Land Rover is still betting on a late 2006 launch, but the collaboration with Jaguar has caused them to rework the rear suspension. The Jaguar crossover needed a new suspension setup that could accommodate a third row of seats, something that was not planned for the Freelander. Other reason for the delay could be a complete redesign so Ford could nestle a gas-electric hybrid powertrain in the new small-SUV. U.S. buyers should also bet on a name change to LR2.
