New automotive taboo word: four-doors

From the same group of people who can't admit to driving a minivan, station wagon or even a sedan comes the new rash four-door coupes. Next on the list is the VW Passat Coupe, which Inside Line reports would be shown at the 2007 Frankfurt International Auto Show. It's VW's way to bridge the gap between the Passat and Phaeton and take on the Mercedes CLS at its own name-game. The Passat Coupe will be hiding one other taboo in the U.S., a hatchback. The sedan will maximize interior space at a price lower than the CLS.
