In a move that we don't remember ever witnessing, Consumer Reports removed the Ford Focus from their Best Pick list due to the recent "poor" crash test rating it received from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Focus was the only model from an American manufacturer in the top 10 picks and Consumer Reports couldn't live with themselves. The other models that CR removed because of the tests were the Elantra, Mazda3, Altima, Element, Outlander and Grand Vitara/XL-7. Wow, a flaw in a flawed test, wonder of wonders.
