Opel dumps 4,500 jobs, halfway done

GM has offered 4,500 German Opel employees severance packages, and they've accepted, as part of a cost cutting plan that will see 9,000 total positions at Opel go bye-bye. The General needs to bring the money-losing brand back into the black and jobs are the first step. The other Euro-GM brands shouldn't feel too safe as their Opel brothers and sisters are sent packing. There are plans for job cuts at Vauxhall and Saab too.
