New-style hydrogen station opens

There's a lot of hype in hydrogen; proponents forget to mention that producing the zero emissions fuel is not a pollution-free process. In fact, for hydrogen to reach a mass audience in the near future, the energy for conversion would come from… imported oil. For true energy independence and diminished hydrocarbons, you need tens of thousands of small hydrogen production plants using alternative fuels. Although the company doesn't trumpet the fact, ChevronTexaco's new CA hydrogen filling station boasts on-site hydrogen production using natural gas. Now that's what we call progress.
