About a year ago, Bill McGraw of The Detroit Free Press bought a Saturn Ion. After reading a vicious anti-gourmet coffee rant, McGraw decided to see how much cash he would have saved if he hadn't given his money to GM's disconcertingly amorphous sub-brand. We're talking parking tickets, gas, insurance, parking tickets, depreciation and parking tickets. I won't reveal the exact figure, but McGraw reckons he spent between $7000 and $7006 dollars enjoying the benefits of personal mobility. Not surprisingly, the scribe figures the money would have been better spent on public transportation or… gourmet coffee. Would that be fair trade coffee Bill?
