Detroit Auto Show: Dave sits in a Smart

To answer all the critics I decided to sit in a Smart. The Roadster of course. This thing isn't too cramped inside, it's the equivalent to sitting in the Lotus Elise. Of course the exterior sure isn't. But this is the coolest of the bunch. The four-door (what is it the ForFour?) next to the roadster looked like it could make it in the U.S.

But when I got out of the Roadster I almost fell out. Embarrassing for sure. The Lotus Elise may be worth this kind of contortion but I doubt the payoff in the Smart Roadster will be the same.
