Ford has completed their complete (and rather embarassing if you ask me) withdrawl from Formula One with the sale of it's racing and automotive electronics sector, the Pi Group. ChampCar co-owners Gerry Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven, who purchased Cosworth Racing in November, acquired the Pi Group for a reported $10-million. The ChampCar co-owners purchase of the Pi Group, bundled with their purchase of Cosworth Racing, will give the struggling series added stability in the coming years giving them a continued supply of engines and electronics. Their purchase has already taken its toll on the IRL, with the Chevy/Cosworth pulling the plug on the Cosworth produced, Chevy branded IRL V8.
