VW is setting the Golf-Plus hatchback loose on the roads of Europe and hoping for sales of at least 150,000 units. VW's sales and marketing spokesman was cautious on where the 150,000 sales would come from. "The question is how many new customers will come to VW, and how many who would have otherwise bought a Golf V or Touran decide instead to opt for a Golf-Plus," he said. The Touran is a minivan built off the Golf platform. The new GolfV did not reach ambitious sales goals of 600,000 and VW is now a little gun-shy with their predictions.
