Update: Another story on the Governor's new H2H.
General Motors, in clear retaliation to Hummer's constant picking on by Prius owners, has created a Hummer H2 SUT that runs on hydrogen called the H2H. And where is this dreamy combination of brawn and environmental friendliness going? Straight to the office of the Governor of California, where else? The vehicle is part of a joint state government and GM project aimed to: "demonstrate the economic and technical viability of hydrogen," says California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's still weird every time I type that title. Arnold went on to say, "Californians invent the future and the H2H shows that a vehicle of today can run on the fuel of tomorrow." You tell 'em Arnie. On to the technical stuff lifted from the press release: "The H2H is a HUMMER H2 that has been extensively re-engineered to operate on gaseous hydrogen fuel, with its main tailpipe emission being water vapor. The truck uses a supercharged version of the truck's original Vortec 6000 (6.0-liter V-8) internal combustion engine. The H2H is not intended for production." It's not for production, it's purely so the governor can drive a Hummer and get reelected at the same time.
