Oh wait, I'm already at work. Indeed, today, Wednesday the 22nd of September, is World Car-free Day, as proposed by the World Car-Free Network and celebrated around the world by activists hoping to show people what it's like to live without automotive transportation. Notoriously progressive cities like Portland, OR and Madison, WI have their own car-free websites with hints for how to enjoy your car-less 24 hours. The Competitive Enterprise Institute, however, thinks this whole car-free business is big steaming pile because it ignores the needs of "the handicapped, the elderly, parents with kids, or anyone who lives outside of a central city."
