The cute little DaimlerChrysler smart brand will be coming to the U.S. in a few years but it won't be bringing the current small furtwo model known for its small size and large mileage numbers. Even though there are companies hoping to import the fortwo this year, modifying it enough to meet American safety standards, they won't be able to import that many and the cost will be a few thousand over what the cars sell for overseas. Americans will get the larger formore SUV in 2006. The size will be comparable to a Toyota Rav-4 or Honda CR-V. Bringing a high quality small SUV as your first vehicle in the U.S. isn't a bad move. It will introduce people to the style and name of smart and it the brand won't be initially associated with a tiny "walnut" shaped car.
