John Gilbert of the Budgeteer News is unabashed about his sneak preview test of the new Altima SE-R. I guess we won't feel too slighted but come on. Anyway, Mr. Gilbert gets behind the wheel of a black 6-speed manual SE-R in the wilds of Seattle. The power is bumped up by 10 to 260 in the 3.5L V6 and there are a couple more foot-pounds of torque too. Gear ratios are slightly revised and of course there are larger 18-inch wheels and sticky low-profile tires. In the end Mr. Gilbert seemed to like the SE-R version of the Altima and suggests Nissan had to rise to the challenge the Mazda6 put down when it entered the fray of import sedans last year.
