Ask Autoblog: Best performance tire for under $100?

Happy TGIF Autoblog readers. Coinciding with our series on how to best outfit the Autoblog Project Car we're beginning a new weekly feature called "Ask Autoblog." It won't always have to do with the project car but to start things off we'll ask which tires do you think are best for the 1999 Escort ZX2 for Solo II racing as well as daily driving? Oh, and they have to be under $100 at one of the major retailers like Tire Rack, Discount Tire etc. The tire size has to be 205/55/15. So that limits what type of tires are available. Here's an assortment of what I found at Tire Rack. Since they're the easiest to browse online I used their prices. They are not sponsoring this entry and I may buy the actual tires locally. Remember I live in Chicago so all-season performance might be worth contemplating. And cost is very important. The lower the better. We'd like to hear personal experiences, first hand accounts and just plain old opinions from you.
