At the 2004 Chicago Auto Show I noticed something interesting on the license plates of the Ford Vehicles. In imprinted steel were the phrases "Made in Detroit" and more surprisingly "Made In Chicago." Having lived in Chicago for a few years I was surprised they were building cars here. In fact one of the company's oldest factories is in Chicago. Ford's plant on the South Side of the city built Model T's back in the day and will now help produce the slightly more stylish Ford 500, Ford Freestyle and Mercury Montego. Local media was invited to tour the plant yesterday but not Autoblog. Where's the love?
