Now that the 9-3 sedan and cabrio have made their ways into the wide, scary world, Saab has another bun in the oven in the form of a 9-3 sport wagon. The concept was unsheathed at the most recent Frankfurt Motor Show, with lines made familiar by the 9-3X concept, which Saab whored out all over the place and never really did anything about— but they had time to rebadge a Subaru and a Chevy, didn't they? Sure they did. Anyway, the sport wagon, with the wildly original name Sport-Hatch, isn't as angular or radical or cool as the 9-3X, but the five-door "fastback" will be a welcome return to the wicked practical clamshells of old. A 2.0 liter turbo engine peaking at 250 hp will handle propulsion duties. Look for the 9-3 Sport-Hatch in late 2005, just when your perennial dread of the impending holidays really starts to set in.
