Cue Radiohead track: airbags have saved 15,000 in last 7300 days

The Associated Press reports that in the two decades since airbags have been made available as factory equipment in passenger cars, they've kept about 15,000 people alive. They have also unfortunately contributed to the deaths of 242. Over 14,000 of those saved lives came after 1989, when driver's side airbags became required by national inviolable law. The first airbag-related death was reported in 1990.
