Day 3 & 4
Finally, I got to take the RX-8 out of the city. A bumper-to-bumper ride out to the suburbs on the expressway showed some finicky suspension. While crawling along the car picked up bumps more than it did on pot-hole filled city streets. But once the car got some consistent throttle it smoothed out nicely.
The real fun was the ride home through curvy, and relatively smooth, two-lane roads. Here the perfect 50-50 weight distribution everyone raves about shone through. Tight twisties brought a smile to my face and my sometimes nervous girlfriend said she felt safe in this test car. Even though the car is light at 3,000 lbs, the RX-8 feels rock solid and handles better through these slaloms than on straight-aways. Although I'll admit we did launch from a light and finally hit the 9,000 RPM redline. Hey I needed to turn right and I was in the left lane. So the few hundred yards I distanced myself from the rest of the traffic was purely a safety procedure.Mazda RX-8" hspace="4" src="http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/images/6167418074228375.JPG?0.41705412534956937" width="400" align="left" vspace="4" border="1" />
