Total drunk drives Jeep into river; falsely claims victims

Butch Iler, who at 22 already had two drunk driving offenses under his belt, picked up a third along with a gamut of other charges when he crashed his 2004 Jeep Liberty into the Sandusky River in Ohio. After running a stop sign and driving down an embankment into the aforementioned body of water, Iler climbed out and claimed that he had eight passengers, including one "not accounted for." Both police and fire departments responded, as well as the Sandusky County Dive Team, but the search for survivors was called off after Iler's story kept changing and it was confirmed that all eight people named by Iler were at home at the time of the crash, which transpired at 4:47 AM.
