Geneva: Volkswagen says US pickup is back on the table
    1394036400

Volkswagen doesn't normally consider General Motors to be a prime competitor in the US, but it's keeping a keen eye on the company's new midsize pickup models, eager to see how they perform in the market. That's because the German automaker is reevaluating its truck strategy, and it's closely watching the reception of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon ...

Exclusive: Bentley considering diesel engine for new SUV
    1394026200

Turns out, in case you didn't know, the rich are just like regular people. They too are concerned about the environment, even when tooling around town in their super-luxurious Bentleys. So the automaker is weighing the idea of offering a diesel engine in its SUV offering, which could help satisfy customers' demands for more fuel-efficient ...

Geneva: 2014 Volkswagen Scirocco still looks hot, still not coming to the US
    1394017140

Ever since its debut in 2008, we've been lusting after the mean-faced, squat-stanced Volkswagen Scirocco. And while there are still no plans to bring the car to the US, folks in other markets are being treated to a slightly updated version of The People's (Other) GTI. The Scirocco formula hasn't changed – no increase in dynamism here. Engine ...

Geneva: Volkswagen Golf GTE is mean, green eco machine
    1394011800

I have this theory that keeps coming up when recommending new cars to people: "Just buy a GTI." Seriously. It's a perfect little hot hatch, with a comfortable, well-appointed interior, and the sort of dynamics that make it a nice everyday driver while still offering gobs of fun when the roads get interesting. It's basically the perfect car to me. But ...

    1393964460

After generations of Passat sedans designed more to European tastes and needs, Volkswagen finally let loose in 2011 with a larger and less costly model engineered specifically with the North American market's tastes in mind. The Chattanooga, TN-built four door launched well on the strength of a couple of awards and serendipitous supply problems for VW's ...

Official: Volkswagen T-Roc Concept unveiled with an eye toward production
    1393885740

After being uncharacteristically flat-footed in reacting to the auto industry's seemingly unquenchable demand for new crossovers, the Volkswagen brand is investigating a raft of new softroader models to build out its portfolio. At present, VW only offers its premium-minded Touareg and aging Tiguan, but more product is in the pipeline: the long-expected ...

Official: VW bringing high-riding T-Roc concept to Geneva
    1393542060

Volkswagen is no stranger to building crossover concepts. In just the past few years it has debuted the three-row CrossBlue, midsize Cross Coupe and tiny Taigun, and it has yet one will bow at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show: the sporty, compact T-Roc concept. The little CUV rides on the company's flexible MQB architecture, just like the Cross Coupe concept, ...

    1392917400

It used to be that if you wanted a Golf-based hot hatch, you only had to know three letters: GTI. But these days, Volkswagen seems intent on offering a much broader array. There's the Golf R, the GTD and now this, the GTE. Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show (now less than two weeks away), the new Golf GTE joins as the fifth type of propulsion to ...

Official: VW updates Scirocco with revised styling, new engines
    1392580680

The Scirocco is undoubtedly one of the better-looking models in the Volkswagen lineup, but introduced back in 2008, it's now been on the market – some markets, anyway – for the better part of six years. VW is said to have an all-new replacement in the works, but before that arrives, the German automaker has announced a facelifted version with ...

Chicago: 2014 Volkswagen Passat Sport does its best GTI impression
    1391786160

In the past, buyers that desired a sporty Volkswagen were rather limited in terms of choice. You could have a GTI, a Jetta GLI or a Golf R. If you wanted to move beyond the compact segment, you were stuck looking elsewhere. For 2014, though, VW decided to try and sportify it's big Passat sedan. With a 170-horsepower, 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, ...

Look familiar? It should, since the vehicle you see above, which is the latest version of the Volkswagen Taigun Concept, was first seen in October of 2012 at the São Paulo motor show. Sure, there have been a few minor updates, most notable of which is the externally mounted spare wheel and tire, but it's quickly becoming clear what the small 'ute ...

If a report in Auto Express is correct, a lighter, faster brother to the Volkswagen Golf R will be shown to the world at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Said to be called the Golf R Evo, the even harder hot hatch would be unveiled as one of those concepts that's practically a de facto presentation of the genuine thing. Detroit: 2015 Volkswagen Golf R is an even hotter hatch

I had a lovely first date with the Volkswagen Golf R a couple of years ago, blasting through the French Alps just before attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. I loved that car, and I'm super stoked to get behind the wheel of this new, 2015 model. Why? This R is based on the lighter seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf, or more importantly, the sweet new ...
