<br />Karvajal Designs has been displaying its Chevrolet Corvette-altering wares for some time, and it's finally giving up the details on its line of C6 exterior and engine modifications. The ZX-1 Stage One package includes a completely redesigned body kit that widens the 'Vette's haunches to 80-inches (with all the requisite ducting and panels), along with front and rear LEDs, custom exhaust, rear diffuser and 18-inch HRE aluminum wheels.<br /><br />In addition to the other ZX-1 bling (aluminum sill plates, floor mats, flat-bottom steering wheel, alcantra swathed race seats, etc.), a performance package is available that includes Baer brakes, a Pfaft coil-over suspension, anti-roll bars, full under-body aero package and - most importantly - a Magnuson supercharger tuned to produce over 600 horsepower. If that isn't enough, all of the exterior bits can be had in carbon fiber and coated in a hue of your choosing. For all the details, head over to <a href="http://www.karvajaldesigns.com/">Karvajal's website</a> or the <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-ZX-1-Karvajal-Designs-Corvette-widebody-1-of-300_W0QQitemZ350195506613QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item5189475db5&amp;_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&amp;_trkparms=65%3A3|39%3A1|240%3A1318">eBay listing for the very first of ZX-1</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/karvajal-designs-zx-1/low/">Karvajal Designs ZX-1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/karvajal-designs-zx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/01-karvajal-designs-zx1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/karvajal-designs-zx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/02-karvajal-designs-zx1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/karvajal-designs-zx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/03-karvajal-designs-zx1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/karvajal-designs-zx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/04-karvajal-designs-zx1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/karvajal-designs-zx-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/05-karvajal-designs-zx1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/21/karvajal-designs-zx-1-gives-chevrolet-corvette-z06-the-widebody/">Karvajal Designs ZX-1 gives details on its Chevrolet Corvette widebody</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 21 May 2009 10:01:00 EST. <br />Leave it up to Geiger Cars to build a lime green, 890-horsepower Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The force behind flamboyant creations like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/17/tuner-tuesdays-gulf-wing-hummer-gt-by-geigercars/">Gulf-Wing Hummer</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/12/05/geiger-cars-does-the-h2-santa-style/">Santa-style H2</a> have turned their attention to American muscle once again and have introduced an abundance of new performance parts for the Z06 featured in this over-the-top Vette. <br /><br />The bi-turbo package includes an increase in displacement to 7.6-liters and upgraded cylinder heads, valve springs, cams, a larger mass air meter, and a less-restrictive exhaust system in addition to the dual turbochargers. The result is an impressive 890 horsepower and 694 lb-ft torque, as well as a reported top speed of 220 mph. The drivetrain has been beefed up accordingly with a sturdier twin-disc clutch and a carbon fiber driveshaft. <br /><br />This being a Geiger effort, the car in question also features the company's body kit, adjustable coilovers, and larger brakes both front and rear. Did we mention it's lime green? More details in the distinctly German press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-corvette-z06-twin-turbo/low/">Geiger Corvette Z06 Twin-Turbo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-corvette-z06-twin-turbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/geigercorvettez06_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-corvette-z06-twin-turbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/geigercorvettez06_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-corvette-z06-twin-turbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/geigercorvettez06_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-corvette-z06-twin-turbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/geigercorvettez06_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geiger-corvette-z06-twin-turbo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/geigercorvettez06_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Geiger Cars]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/20/geiger-gives-chevrolet-corvette-z06-the-twin-turbo-treatment/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Geiger gives Chevrolet Corvette Z06 the twin-turbo treatment</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/20/geiger-gives-chevrolet-corvette-z06-the-twin-turbo-treatment/">Geiger gives Chevrolet Corvette Z06 the twin-turbo treatment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 20 May 2009 09:28:00 EST. <br />While the Anteros Roadster made its debut a few years at SEMA, we got our <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/corvette-based-anteros-hits-the-market/ ">first look at the coupe</a> just a few months ago. Now, n2a Motors, which builds the Corvette-based sportscars has announced that it is taking orders for both the coupe and convertible, priced at $149,500 and $154,500, respectively. <br /><br />Based on the chassis and running gear of a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette, each car features a carbon composite body, hand-stitched leather interior, three-piece aluminum wheels, and a custom exhaust. Under the hood is the Corvette's LS3 V8 putting out 430 horsepower and 424 lb-ft torque, complete with Chevrolet's 100,000 mile powertrain warranty intact. Customers can also choose to have the Z06 used as a base vehicle, and upgrades between 525 and 1000 horsepower are available at additional cost. <br /><br />The transformation from Corvette to Anteros takes approximately 800 hours, and no two cars will be alike (hence the name n2a). Along with the press release that can be seen after the jump, n2a Motors has also released dozens of new photos of both the coupe and convertible that can be viewed in high resolution in the gallery below. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/n2a-motors-anteros-coupe-and-roadster/low/">n2a Motors Anteros Coupe and Roadster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/n2a-motors-anteros-coupe-and-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/n2aanteros_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/n2a-motors-anteros-coupe-and-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/n2aanteros_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/n2a-motors-anteros-coupe-and-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/n2aanteros_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/n2a-motors-anteros-coupe-and-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/n2aanteros_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/n2a-motors-anteros-coupe-and-roadster/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/n2aanteros_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: n2a Motors]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/04/n2a-motors-now-taking-orders-for-anteros-roadster-and-coupe/">n2a Motors now taking orders for Anteros Roadster and Coupe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 04 Feb 2009 15:30:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the STS C6 Z06</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The <a href="http://www.ststurbo.com/home">Squires Turbo Systems</a> twin-turbo C6 Z06 gives the former most-powerful Vette model a boost to 700 horsepower at a very reasonable 7 pounds of boost, which, depending on how sorted the Bilstein-shocked suspension is, could give it a good shot at sticking with a stock ZR-1. The most unique thing about this car is that STS mounts the turbos remotely, at the rear of the car. That placement keeps the engine bay freer and adds a host of technical perks like lower temps under the hood and cooler oil going to the turbo. And according to STS, some customers have even gotten better gas mileage. Strangely, though, for all of that new performance, the brakes look untouched. Check it out in the gallery of high-res photos below.<br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/">SEMA 2008: STS Twin Turbo C6 Covette</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-covette/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_sts_tt_c6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/06/sema-2008-sts-twin-turbo-c6-corvette-a-matte-monster/">SEMA 2008: STS Twin Turbo C6 Corvette a matte monster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 13:29:00 EST. <br />I received an Indy 500 poster on my birthday in 1986 that featured a Yellow C4 Corvette pace car leading the pack. My dad hung the poster above my bed, and I can honestly say that I stared at it every night for years. The Corvette was my dream car for my entire childhood, but as an adult I turned my attention to European rides like the Porsche 911 and the Ferrari 360 Modena. <br /><br />When the C6 Corvette hit the scene for the 2005 model year, the Bow Tie brand's halo vehicle again had me pining for some General Motors muscle. GM gave the base Vette the same 400 horsepower as the C5 Z06, and I figured it was all the power I could ever want. That is, until the 2006 Z06 came along. The Z06 was kicking ass on the track and in enthusiast magazines, and it was toppling competition that far exceeded the Corvette's $70,000 price of entry. We never had the Z06 in the Autoblog Garage, so we were more than happy to take it off Chevy's hands for a week. Hit the jump to see if the Z06 met our lofty expectations from childhood.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-corvette-z06/low/">Review: 2008 Chevy Corvette Z06</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/03_vettez06garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/05_vettez06garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/00_vettez06garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_vettez06garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_vettez06garage_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>All photos copyright (C)2008 Chris Shunk, Sam Abuelsamid/Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/06/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-chevy-corvette-z06/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2008 Chevy Corvette Z06</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/06/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-chevy-corvette-z06/">Review: 2008 Chevy Corvette Z06</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 06 Oct 2008 11:57:00 EST. <p>It's been more than a decade since the "recession-proof" <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/pics-aplenty-2009-corvette-z06-gets-new-color-and-wheels/">Chevrolet Corvette</a> had to endure a production cut due to excess dealer inventory, but that's apparently the case once again. Citing slow sales related to the ongoing automotive recession, GM will turn off the Corvette's factory lights during the week of October 6th. When Vette assembly resumes the following week, production will be scaled back to 15 cars per hour (normal speed is 18.5 cars per hour). Unfortunately, GM says layoffs will accompany the new schedule at the Bowling Green facility, with up to 75 workers losing their jobs. While surprising, the news isn't entirely unexpected. Corvette sales were down 8.5 percent for the year through August of 2008. They only rebounded after GM included the model in its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/03/gm-extends-employee-pricing-for-another-month-adds-most-09-mod/">employee pricing sale</a>... and we all know a shot in the arm like that won't hold out over time. </p>

But who's going to complain about looking at new high-res photos of the 2009 Chevy Corvette Z06? Sure, it's not the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ZR1/">ZR1</a>, but it's still a damn fine car and for 2009 is getting a few tweaks that might be noteworthy to some. The first that's immediately evident is the Cyber Gray Metallic paint color, which is also joined by Blade Silver Metallic. With the deletion of Machine Sliver Metallic, the Z06 exterior color palette now stands at nine colors. Also new are 'spider'-design 10-spoke wheels exclusive to the Z06, and they look damn good framing those large rotors and red calipers. Less exciting is the new bright surround around the Corvette logo on the hood and redesigned Z06 sill plates, though owners of the '09 model will get a standard power hatch pull-down, Bluetooth as an option and the 10.5-quart dry sump oil system from the ZR1. There's some more new stuff in GM's own words after the jump, but we're too busy looking at the pics to tell you what they are.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevy-corvette-z06/low/">2009 Chevy Corvette Z06</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevy-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/x09ch_cr111_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevy-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/x09ch_cr112_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevy-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/x09ch_cr113_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevy-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/x09ch_cr114_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-chevy-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/x09ch_cr115_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: GM]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/pics-aplenty-2009-corvette-z06-gets-new-color-and-wheels/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pics Aplenty: 2009 Corvette Z06 gets new color and wheels</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/13/pics-aplenty-2009-corvette-z06-gets-new-color-and-wheels/">Pics Aplenty: 2009 Corvette Z06 gets new color and wheels</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Jun 2008 15:58:00 EST. The special edition C6 comes with with Crystal Red Tintcoat, new exclusive wheels, a titanium-colored leather interior, 427-embroidered seats and floor mats, and Z06 sill plates. Pedestrians will know how special your car is when they see the "427" badges and graphics adorning the exterior. Inside, <a href="http://rfyd.org/cooksey.html">Wil Cooksey</a>, the soon-to-retire Bowling Green Corvette plant manager of 15 years, will personally sign each model's armrest.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-427-limited-edition/641330/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/427vettewheel_215.jpg" alt="" /></a>Chevy will only build 427 of the cars for the North American market and another 78 for everyone else, for a total run of only 505. That is, not coincidentally, the horsepower rating of this American sports car. Buyers will have to come up with $84,195 to park one in their garage -- about a $13,000 premium over the mass-production <a href="http://autos.aol.com/cars-Chevrolet-Corvette/overview">Z06</a>. Why, a boat, of course! You're not going to want to step out of your C6 into some aluminum row boat with a 5-horsepower Evinrude hung off the back. A 2-stroke buzz can't hold a candle to the barrel-chested rumble of an LS V8. <a href="http://www.malibuboats.com">Malibu Boats</a> has introduced its latest Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V speedboat to solve your problem. The Corvette's most prominent styling cues have been lifted from the car and rendered in V-hull form. There's authentic Corvette seats, a dashboard that emulates the four-wheeled version, and even roll-down windows.<br /><br />There are two different versions of the Sport-V, the Coupe and the Z06. The Coupe isn't lacking in anything, with 400 horsepower from its own V8, but the Z06 is just that much more over the top. There's not only 105 more horsepower on tap, but it also includes a lexan engine hatch to show off the LS7 engine and a two-tone interior and dash. To haul the Z06 around, it comes with a trailer that even uses Z06 wheels. General Motors approves, and the Sport-V speedboat will ease the pain of separation when you leave your 'Vette in the parking lot at the marina. <br /><br />[Source: 4wheelsblog]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-boat/low/">Malibu Boats Sport-V speedboat</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-boat/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/chevrolet-corvette-boat-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-boat/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/chevrolet-corvette-boat-7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-boat/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/chevrolet-corvette-boat-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-boat/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/chevrolet-corvette-boat-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/corvette-boat/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/chevrolet-corvette-boat-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/30/corvette-boat-updated-to-c6-spec/">Corvette boat updated to C6-spec</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 30 Nov 2007 14:21:00 EST. As a result, you now have the opportunity to own a lightly-used 2006 Corvette Z06 with a legit celebrity connection for what amounts to fair market value. The car's basically stock save for its powder-coated wheels and has a "Buy It Now" option set at $60K. More interesting than the Z06, however, are some of the other cars in Tim's garage, as you can see above. The old Bronco's cool for sure. Ditto the Road Runner and the matte black Nova next to it. In one of the shots, it looks like he's got a GT350H in his stash, along with a couple of Ferraris of diverse vintage, too. But the one that's got us really interested is that white <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_RS200">RS200</a>. That'd make in-person pickup of the Vette (or the <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-A8-TIM-ALLENS-2007-AUDI-A8-L-W12-QUATTRO-AT6_W0QQitemZ270187137997QQihZ017QQcategoryZ6005QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem">A8 W12</a> Tim's also selling) a must if we were the auction winners. Heck, we'd pay a little extra on the Vette just for a ride in the super-rare Ford. <br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Ryan!<br /><br />[Source: eBay via <a href="http://www.celebritycarsblog.com/2007/11/for-sale-tim-allens-corvette-z06.html">Celebrity Cars Blog</a>]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/low/">Tim Allen's 2006 Corvette Z06</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/timallen_z06-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/timallen_z06-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/timallen_z06-(3)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/timallen_z06-(4)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/11/timallen_z06-(5)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/25/ebay-find-of-the-day-tim-allens-2006-corvette-z06/">eBay Find of the Day: Tim Allen's 2006 Corvette Z06</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 25 Nov 2007 14:07:00 EST. <p> </p>
<p>One of the most exciting recent developments in the industry, by this writer's account at least, is the re-emergence of the coachbuilding industry. Cars like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/23/first-fisker-finds-a-home/">Fisker Latigo</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/22/zagatos-ferrari-575-gtz-unveiled/">Zagato Ferrari 575 GTZ</a> have heralded a revival of the long-lost segment that inherently gives birth to some of the most unique automobiles on the road. It was only a matter of time until the Italians picked up where they left off by crafting unique Corvette-based sportscars.</p>
<p>Italian coachbuilder Castagna Milano, originally founded way back in the 1850s and revived in the 1990s, has created a number of bespoke models, including the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/02/20/carrozzeria-castagna-to-show-gran-tourer-sport-concept-in-geneva/">Imperial Landaulet concept</a> and a slew of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/03/13/geneva-auto-show-wrapup-castagna-tenders-crossed-up-minis/">custom Minis</a>. The carrozzeria's latest offering, the Castagna Aznom, was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/22/supercar-ad-nauseam-castagna-aznom/">previewed</a> in skeletal form back in April at Monaco's <em>Top Marques </em>show, and the firm has now released further details and images. </p>
<p>Based on the Corvette Z06, the Aznom also draws on retro Corvette styling elements, blended with thoroughly modern design features to create a heart-stopping supercar. The egg-crate grille is drawn from the original '53 Vette, slab-sided flanks from the '58 Stingray and fenders from the '56 SR-2 Sebring race car. On the contemporary side of things, LED rear lights, retracting rear wing, three-section rear diffuser and F1-style fender-mounted carbon-fiber wing mirrors round out the design. Those sharp five-spoke wheels measure 20 inches, shod in 285/30 and 335/30 Pirelli PZero rubber front and rear respectively, housing 356mm cross-drilled discs with six-pot calipers fore and 340mm discs with 4-pot calipers aft. The cockpit even features a Google Earth-powered sat-nav system.</p>
<p>Whether you love or hate the unique styling, the Aznom has the "go" to back up the "show". Castagna has thoroughly massaged the Z06's 7-liter V8 from 500 horsepower to a whopping 750, and with the use of carbon fiber, aluminum and magnesium bodywork, has trimmed the weight down to 1,400 kg. With that magical formula of more power and less weight, the carrozzeria puts the performance figures at 0-60 in a scant 3.4 seconds on its way to a claimed top speed of 217 mph.</p>

<p>Want a 2007 Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Corvette Z06, but the $80K you need to get it is currently tied up in pork futures? The fine folks at <a href="http://www.vettecollectibles.com">www.vettecollectibles.com</a> can get you something that will do in the meantime. To go along with the 399 full-sized versions of the car, they are offering 399 1/24-scale die-cast editions. The models have a metal chassis, and opening hoods, doors, and trunks. Each one is also numbered, like the actual car, but will only run you $35 in this case. And honestly, short of the autograph on the $80K car, it'll put you just about as close to Ron Fellows as the people who bought the life-sized version.</p>

Well, not so fast. These two vehicles have similar weight and length, both vehicles boast more than 600hp, front-engine layouts, and both companies employ the same magnetic damping from the embattled Delphi corporation.</p>
<p>In fact, the folks over at Straightline think Z07 engineers are testing their configuration of the magnetic shock absorbers against the best the world has to offer. Hey, if you want to make a world-beater, the 599 GTB Fiorano is a hell of a measuring stick <br /></p>

We were so excited about the upgraded Vette, we flew out to Bowling Green Kentucky on 24 hours notice <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/27/2008-chevy-corvette-revealed-with-new-6-2l-ls3-v8-and-up-to-436/">just to get pictures</a> of newest iteration of GM's affordable supercar. We feel the 2008 Corvette is worthy of travel within the continental United States, but for the much-rumored Z07, we'd fly to Mars.<br /><br />We'd been hearing rumors about the vaunted <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/spy-shots-corvette-ss-blue-devil-will-it-debut-in-new-york/">Blue Devil</a> Corvette for well over a year now, and when we saw that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/09/detroit-auto-show-2008-dodge-viper-with-extra-bite/">2008 Viper</a> would have a domestic-best 600 HP, we knew an even more powerful Corvette was as inevitable as death and taxes. The folks over at Corvette Fever have published nine terrific shots of Chevy's most anticipated vehicle, and it's looking pretty darned close to being ready for production. <br /><br />The Z07 is lower to the ground than even the Z06, and the tires and rims are larger, which kicks out the wheel wells by a few inches. There is also a huge chunk of plastic on the hood, which is probably helping to cool the beast's 7.0L, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/13/2009-corvette-ss-blue-devil-in-final-stage-of-tuning/">Supercharged V8</a>. Blogger Bob pegged the horsepower of the blown V8 at between 600 and 700, which we gather would be good for 0-60 times faster than that of the Ford GT.<br /><br />After 55 years of production we think the world is finally ready for a $100,000 Corvette, and we're looking forward to taking one for a spin.<br /><br />[Source: Corvette Fever]<br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Dave!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/01/spy-shots-2008-corvette-z07/">Spy Shots: 2008 Corvette Z07</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 01 May 2007 08:27:00 EST. <p><a href="http://www.castagnamilano.com/">Castagna</a>, the Milanese atelier for cars run by an architect, used the <a href="http://www.topmarquesmonaco.com/index.shtml">Top Marques Monaco</a> show to debut its new supercar. Known for its work with all things Mini (check out the outlandish <a href="http://bridger.us/mini/castagna_brochure.pdf">Mini Crossup</a>), this is a departure for the coachbuilder that got its start in 1849, and was formerly known for its unique creations during the Jazz Era.</p>
<p>The car is called Aznom, and in coachbuilt tradition utilizes the rebodied chassis from a Corvette Z06. Laid over that is a carbon fiber body that brings the entire car in at under 3,080 lbs. It probably looks much more elegant sitting on its wheels than it does on jacks, but it appears absolutely mean from any angle. A grill reminiscent of the first Corvette gapes beneath a waspish-looking front end flanked by monumental wheel arches. From there, the curves, lines, vents and scoops don't stop until the 3-piece rear diffuser. Not apparent in the picture, the silhouette of the car on the Castagna site has mirrors mounted on the fenders on stalks.</p>
<p>No matter what you think of the looks, if Castagna's telling the truth, the Aznom is going to be excruciatingly quick: 700 hp, 701 lb-ft of torque, a 218 mph top speed, 3.4 seconds to 62 mph, and 9.5 to 124. You can expect the price to likewise be excruciatingly high. An official launch is slated for May. </p>

That level includes a 600 HP motor, along with a thorough reworking of almost every component that makes up GM's blue-collar supercar.<br /><br />To begin with, the "Street Attack" LS7 gets dismantled and then stuffed with forged 11:1 pistons and titanium con-rods. While the engine was cracked open, Katech replaced the valve springs, camshaft and retainers, along with porting the cylinder heads. All those modifications boost output an additional 100 HP, a figure that will supposedly be reached by the rumored Blue Devil 'Vette -- except this Z06 doesn't have to rely on forced induction.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/13/katech-answers-the-question-can-you-improve-the-z06/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Katech answers the question: Can you improve the Z06?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/13/katech-answers-the-question-can-you-improve-the-z06/">Katech answers the question: Can you improve the Z06?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2007 13:32:00 EST. The Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06 and Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car edition are both only trim packages with stock mechanicals, yet the visual impact of any Vette in Atomic Orange or the ultra exclusive Arctic White is breathtaking.<br /><br />The Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06 was developed to celebrate the first man to win an ALMS race in the C5.R back in 2000. The Fellows Z06 is even more exclusive than the Indy 500 Pace Car replica, with only 399 cars being built. In our eyes, it's the better looking of the two (that's why we took more pics of it), with an exclusive coating of Arctic White paint accented by subtle red and silver fender badging. The Z06 wheels are coated in chrome and the windshield's adorned with a full-width Corvette banner, just like the C5.R. <br /><br />The Indy 500 Pace Car edition is a capable vehicle already by virtue of being a Corvette Convertible with the Z51 performance package. As such, the car will need hardly any modfications to pace the Indy 500 in May. Chevy will be offering 500 of these replica cars to the public, which, along with the radioactive color, includes many Indy 500 logos on the car's exterior and interior, new aluminum split-spoke wheels, and a rear spoiler from the Z06. To be honest, we'd be way more into this car without all the Indy 500 badging, but we're sure Chevy will find 500 people (collectors?) who won't mind it.<br /><br />GM hasn't made a big deal about these cars at the show, and it's true they're just trim packages for a car we're already very familiar with. Nevertheless, there always seems to be a crowd of journalists hanging around these jewels.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/">2007 Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-chevy-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/low/">2007 Chevy Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car edition</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-chevy-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_indy500-vette---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-chevy-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_indy500-vette---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-chevy-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_indy500-vette---08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-chevy-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_indy500-vette---07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-chevy-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_indy500-vette---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/08/chicago-auto-show-special-edition-corvettes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago Auto Show: Special edition Corvettes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/08/chicago-auto-show-special-edition-corvettes/">Chicago Auto Show: Special edition Corvettes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 08 Feb 2007 10:26:00 EST. Fellows drove the C5.R to its first race victory in 2000 and won the American Le Mans Series GTS-class championship in 2002 and has remained an instrumental part of the perennial-champion Corvette Racing team right through today.<br /><br />To honor Fellows' important role in shaping Corvette Racing into the premier outfit it is, Chevy has created the Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06 (that, my friends, is a mouthful of a name worthy of a JDM vehicle). Only 399 cars will be built, and they all get finished in Arctic White with Monterey Red and Victory Silver accent graphics on the front fenders. The red elements incorporate a maple leaf to acknowledge Fellows' Canadian heritage, and his name and the team's championship seasons are also also featured in Victory Red. A full-width race spoiler, "CORVETTE" windshield graphic and chrome rims complete the special edition's look.<br /><br />[Source: GM]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/">2007 Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/chi07_ron-fellows-z06---08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/01/chicago-preview-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chicago Preview: Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/01/chicago-preview-ron-fellows-alms-gt1-champion-corvette-z06/">Chicago Preview: Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 01 Feb 2007 12:29:00 EST. As you've seen from some of our other posts from Scottsdale, there were a large number of paired vehicles auctioned off this week. Seven sets were sold together as matching pairs. We're not sure how well the pairing of lots works out for the sellers, but in some cases it was almost as if the second car was free for the buyers. <br /><br />Perhaps the best deal of the bunch was the set of 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Tankers. In addition to its famed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/22/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-last-sting-ray/">"Last"(tm) Corvette Sting Ray</a>, <a href="http://www.proteamcorvette.com/">ProTeam Classic Corvette Collection and Sales</a> of Napolean, OH offered this pair of ultra rare and desirable Corvettes. The red 327/250hp V8 (Lot #1280) and 327/360hp FI V8 (Lot #1280.1) Split Window Coupe Tankers has extensive documentation, including race history. Lot #1280 also has a Powerglide transmission and the rare combination of power steering and brakes, air conditioning and the "tanker" 36-gallon fuel tank that gives these models their names. The sister car, lot #1280.1, was a similar Tanker 'Vette, but had a 4-speed transmission and the Z06 race package.<br /><br />These lots had a lot going for them. 1963 was the only year for the sought-after split rear window models, they're both Riverside Red, only 63 Tanker cars were built in total, only 199 Z06 packaged 'Vettes were sold, and they both have NCRS Top Flight certification. The significance of these models is well explained by this <em>Sports Car Market</em> tidbit: "Purchasing a 'big tank' Corvette typically required the approval of General Motors executives and was an opportunity that was limited to Corvette racers. Consequently, the big tanks are seldom found on cars that do not also feature the Z06 or race package options, as ProTeam's air conditioned big tank coupe." Some estimates had them at a million bucks, so the $510,000 final gavel price seems almost a bargain. <br /><br />[Sources: Barrett-Jackson and Sports Car Market]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/low/">2007 Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale: Tanker Corvettes</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/corvette-tankers---1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/corvette-tankers---2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/corvette-tankers---3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/corvette-tankers---4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/corvette-tankers---5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/22/2007-barrett-jackson-scottsdale-tanker-corvettes/">2007 Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale: Tanker Corvettes Sold at $510,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 22 Jan 2007 16:30:00 EST.
