<br />
We won't be strolling the aisles of this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/eicma">EICMA</a> show in Milan, and that's nothing short of a crying shame. There's going to be a wide selection of fantastic machines on display, including a very interesting project built on the bones of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/yamaha%20vmax/">Yamaha Vmax</a>. Yamaha Europe has released a teaser for the custom bike, and as it turns out, the project has called upon some of the most renowned builders in the world. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/roland%20sands/">Roland Sands</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/marcus%20walz/">Marcus Walz</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/lazareth/">Ludovic Lazareth</a> have all thrown in a bit of expertise on the project, and the result should be nothing short of stunning.<br />
<br />
The crew calls the project the Vmax Hyper Modified, but details are scarce beyond that. We don't even know if each of the guys on the crew is responsible for an individual bike of their own or whether they've pooled their talents for a final concept. Either way, we can't wait to see the final product. <a href="/2011/10/27/yamaha-calls-on-big-name-talent-for-vmax-hyper-modified-project/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to take a look at the teaser video.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/27/yamaha-calls-on-big-name-talent-for-vmax-hyper-modified-project/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Yamaha calls on big-name talent for Vmax Hyper Modified project</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/27/yamaha-calls-on-big-name-talent-for-vmax-hyper-modified-project/">Yamaha calls on big-name talent for Vmax Hyper Modified project</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 27 Oct 2011 18:59:00 EST. <br />
Anyone who's anyone knows that motorcycles and leather go together like gin and tonic. But usually the leather's on the rider. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/yamaha">Yamaha</a> evidently figured it was time to turn that particular convention on its head, and teamed up with no less prestigious a clothier than <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/hermes/">Herm&egrave;s</a> to pull it off.<br />
<br />
Now as you may recall from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/28/bugatti-releases-new-palette-for-veyron-hermes/">Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes</a> - or for that matter from their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/04/paris-2008-citroen-2cv-by-hermes/">Citro&euml;n 2CV</a> or <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/14/hermes-moves-on-from-veyron-tackles-smart-fortwo/">Smart ForTwo</a> - the French fashion house knows a thing or two about trimming a motor vehicle. So they started with the Yamaha VMax, the very epitome of the muscle bike. With its four-cylinder engine and brushed metalwork, the VMax is about as mean as they come, until Hermes came along and decked it out in fine buffalo skin, covering everything from the head lamp to the exhaust pipe. <br />
<br />
The special VMax was just recently unveiled at a motorbike show in Cologne, Germany. Unfortunately it's a one-off creation at the moment, but it's not the first time the two powerhouses have collaborated: go back fifteen years and you'll find evidence of Hermes having similarly worked its magic on the Virago, the first Japanese V-Twin cruiser to give the likes of Harley-Davidson a run for its money.<br />

Riders fell in love with the VMax, and it has been the quintessential muscle bike ever since. Still, consumers have been hoping to see an update to Mr. Max for quite some time, and <strike>Yamaha</strike> Star Motorcycles has finally made those wishes come true. For 2009, Star will offer just 2,500 VMax's for sale in the U.S. If you want one, the line starts at your nearest Yamaha dealership and will require a $1,000 deposit. <br /><br />Want to know all the details? The V-Max, though, has remained steadfast in its ways, surviving right on through the break off of Star Motorcycles from its Yamaha parent. A look at Star Motorcycle's <a href="http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelhome/23/0/home.aspx">current website</a> shows a V-Max from 2007 that is almost exactly the same as the first edition was all those years ago. That will soon change. Although the official unveiling of the machine that started the muscle-bike category is still a week or so away, the internet has <a href="http://www.motorevue.com/site/les-premieres-photos-de-la-nouvelle-vmax-32333.html">struck out</a> with a few early shots of the new 2009 Max. Early specifications point to around 210 horsepower from a new 1800cc V-Four engine, which ought to have no problem establishing Mr. Max as the new quarter mile king. Just how quick will the new V-Max be? We, along with just about everybody else, predict a trip down the 1320 to take a little over nine seconds. Yeah, it'll be the new bike to be seen on.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-yamaha-v-max-early-shots">2009 Yamaha V-Max early shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-yamaha-v-max-early-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vmax_large_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-yamaha-v-max-early-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vmax_large_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-yamaha-v-max-early-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vmax_large_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-yamaha-v-max-early-shots/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/vmax_large_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motorevue.com/site/les-premieres-photos-de-la-nouvelle-vmax-32333.html">MotoRevue</a> via <a href="http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2008/05/29/2009-vmax-more-photos/#more-1840">The Kneeslider</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/29/web-assisted-early-look-at-the-2009-v-max/">Web-assisted early look at the 2009 V-Max</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 May 2008 16:54:00 EST.
