So, you think the new Forza 3 is pretty awesome, huh? Well that's because it is. But it's about to get a little bit awesome-er thanks to the combined miracles of the holiday season and the internet.

That's right, the internet is the modern equivalent of Santa Clause - just as tangible and bearing more gifts - and here's what it's got in store for us this year: the Hot Holidays DLC Car Pack from Turn 10 Studios, the game company behind the Forza Motorsport franchise.

The package includes ten new cars, and Turn 10's already confirmed eight of them (one for each night of Hanukah, if you ask those dreidel-spinning journalists among us): the 2010 Audi S4, Nissan GT-R SpecV, Ferrari 599XX, Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, Lamborghini Murcielago MP670-4 SuperVeloce, Jaguar XFR and Porsche Panamera Turbo, plus two of the most devastating Le Mans prototypes - the #2 Audi R15 TDI and #007 Aston Martin Lola. (All links go to gallery of screen shots.)

The car pack is downloadable as of today (December 8) for 400 Microsoft Points directly on XBox Live, a magical place (headquartered at the North Pole, we gather) where no one gives a hoot if you've been naughty or nice. Check out the video after the jump and the screen shots in the gallery below, then try to figure out which car you're most stoked about taking for a virtual test drive.

It's said that one hundred monkeys typing for eternity will eventually bang out the complete works of William Shakespeare. However, they will also come up with a whole bunch of other, um... stuff. Including the design brief for this thing. Yes friends, you are looking at a pickup truck designed to take you and several of your friends out into the woods to play video games. No, really. And if you get bored of playing HALO <strike>OCD</strike> ODST, you can go ride around on one of two Cannondale mountain bikes, presumably hucking rocks at the other guy. We would be rue to not point out that ATG comes complete with no less than four Xbox Elite consoles.

We'll hand out a limited number of props (very limited) for chopping out the B-pillars in order to accommodate the giant gullwings. While we didn't see the seats in action, we're fairly sure that the driver and front passenger seats swing out to allow all four peeps play along at the same time. And somehow the front video screen(s) slide into place and/or fold up out of the way. There's also a very large flat screen out back so that others can watch you and your buddies virtually kill each other. And the custom green metallic anthracite paint is the same color on your Xbox.
For the last several months, the folks over at Turn 10 Studios have teased us with previews of the cars that will star in Forza Motorsports 3. The highlights have included Ferraris, American muscle, sedans and SUVs, a variety of Japanese sports and racing cars, the almighty Bugatti 16.4 Veyron, and more. Now with the video game's official release less than a month away, Turn 10 has finally released the complete list of cars that will appear in the hotly anticipated video game. Buyers will be able to choose from more than 400 cars from over 50 manufacturers, all of which can be played using the new cockpit view and customized in the tuning and paint shop. Interestingly, although there are a number of historical Nissan GT-Rs from both street and track, the current car is not included in the roster.

But wait, there's more! In addition to releasing the full list of cars, Turn 10 also announced that those who purchase Forza 3 on launch day will receive a one-time-use token that will allow them to download ten additional cars and two extra tracks. On that list is the '57 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and the '65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, which means we will be officially picking up the game on the first day it's out.

To celebrate both announcements, Turn 10 has also released the official online game trailer that shows all-new game footage. You ready for it? Follow the jump to view the complete list of cars from Forza 3 and to watch the new trailer. Thanks to everyone for the tips!
Here at Autoblog, some of the background chatter re: Forza 3 vs. Gran Turismo 5 reaches Ford vs. Chevy levels of fervor - this blogger and our Editor-in-Chief get into it on IM fairly regularly. You see, Forza is one of few topics that gets our generally mild-mannered Neff all exercised. We usually go back and forth a bit, with Neff touting the virtues of Xbox Live and dissing the PS3 in general. The conversation usually ends after he's asked how many Xbox 360s have died on him (Editor's Note: Only one, thank you very much).

Jibber-jabber aside, one thing that's obvious to all interested parties is that that both games look great, and that car variety won't be a problem. Earlier this week, word circulated that the gull-winged Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG would be one of the cars making the GT5 roster. Today, Daimler released images of the car in-game. Spoiler alert: it looks cool. What's not cool is that Gran Turismo aficionados are likely at least six months away from the promised land. Check out the images in the gallery below, as well as the video embedded after the jump.

Whatever kind of cars you're into, Forza 3 looks like it'll have you covered. The XBox 360 driving game from Turn 10 Studios is quickly emerging to be the best simulator yet, packed with four hundred cars from fifty automakers on a hundred different tracks.

We've recently brought you screen shots and gameplay video footage of some of the most tantalizing machinery under the sun on Forza's virtual circuits - from American muscle cars and sport-utes to Bugattis and Japanese Super GTs - and now Turn 10 has announced a partnership with race organizers Down Under to include Australian V8 Supercars into the game as well. The additional car selection boils down to Holden Commodore VEs and Ford Falcons in a variety of actual liveries, so if you can't make it half way around the world to see the Aussie touring cars go wheel to wheel, you'll soon be able to drive them (virtually) at home. Check out the fresh batch of screen shots in the gallery below.

Gallery: Forza 3 Australian V8 Supercars screen shots

[Source: Forzacentral]

They Come From a Land Down Under: Australian V8 Supercars join in on the Forza 3 action originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 02 Sep 2009 19:00:00 EST.
Getting tired of driving over the same virtual circuits over and over again? Sure, it's a good way to get to know a track, but if can get tiresome. That's why Codemasters - the game studio behind DiRT, Grid and the upcoming F1 series - is releasing Fuel.

The arcade-style racing game boasts a Guinness World Record for the most virtual terrain in any video game: a whopping 5,560 square miles of drivable turf. To design the digital turf layout, developers took the entire Western United States and put the best into the game, encompassing everything from city streets and desert highways to switchback country roads and snowy mountain passes, in all manner of weather conditions.

The paddock of vehicles includes motorbikes, race cars and trucks, but they're all fictitious, so if you're looking for a realistic racing simulator, look elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you're looking for an old-school arcade game with a virtually endless array of tracks, this game's got your name written all over it. So it comes as a special bit of parenthetical news that the hit British BBC show has now become available directly on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Season 10, 11 and 12 are now available on the Microsoft content site, with each 570MB episode costing 160 points (equivalent to $2).

Unfortunately, some edits have been made to the downloadable installments, with licensing concerns forcing them to replace some of the music, and while the 12th season episodes remain in their full 60-minute glory, seasons 10 and 11 have had their episodes trimmed down to 50 minutes (give or take), usually at the expense of the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment and the news (which isn't newsworthy anymore anyway...that's what we're here for). Check it out on the Xbox Live Marketplace for all the details.

[Source: Xbox Live Marketplace via FinalGear.com]
Top Gear episodes now available on Xbox Live Marketplace originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 08:58:00 EST. The software development company responsible for such favorite racing titles as DiRT, Grid and the TOCA series obtained the rights to make the game from Formula One Management, which previously licensed the rights exclusively to EA Sports and Sony. So while previous incarnations of the official F1 game were available only on Playstation systems (PS2, PS3 and PSP), Codemasters' new game will be available across all the major formats. So if you've got a current gaming console at home, you'll have a crack at playing the new F1 sim.

Codemasters has revealed that the game will be released in two stages. First up is F1 2009, a simpler form of the game that will be available for Nintendo Wii and Sony PSP. F1 2010 will follow next year in high-definition format for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PCs, taking full advantage of online gaming communities for head-to-head competition over the internet. Lewis Hamilton, whose contract with Sony expired in 2006 along with their exclusive rights to the game, will be headlining the new Codemasters franchise. look for the game to include all the latest F1 tech, including KERS, slicks, the latest aero rules, and all the latest tracks, including Singapore (above), Valencia and Abu Dhabi.
Fish need water, boys need father figures, and rally games need rally legends. Sadly, Colin McRae, the former world rally champion and the name behind Codemasters' popular DiRT franchise, was tragically killed in a 2007 helicopter accident, leaving big racing shoes to fill. Probably too big for anyone else currently in the World Rally Championship, so for the sequel to the successful video game, Codemasters looked instead to the X-Games and signed Ken Block.

Not to be confused with the Canadian hockey player or the frontman for rock band Sister Hazel, Ken Block is a fixture of the American stunt rally scene. He's also left his mark in skateboarding, snowboarding and motocross, and the extremesportsmeister is co-founder of D.C. Shoe - so whether he can fill McRae's shoes or not, he can craft a pair all his own. Follow the jump to watch the video.

[Source: Joystiq]
Continue reading VIDEO: Ken Block signs on as the face of DiRT 2

VIDEO: Ken Block signs on as the face of DiRT 2 originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 02 Apr 2009 17:58:00 EST.
Electronic Arts, the folks who recently brought us Need for Speed: Undercover, are now working on three (possibly four) new titles in the franchise. According to EA, they're just trying to "keep the game fresh and the players entertained." If you're a cynic, you're getting another plate of something that hasn't tasted good since Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

Your three options will be NFS: Shift, NFS: Nitro, and NFS: World Online. Shift is "built for racers by racers" and will "deliver a true driver's experience that reflects contemporary motorsports." Nitro is an arcade take on the game with "a fresh and unique visual style." World Online is a free web-based player that "takes the race into the largest open world in the history of Need for Speed."

And if you believe the skinny from Eurogamer, EA is working on a fourth NFS that will continue the work of "crafting different games for different audiences and their unique tastes in the driving category." As for the ones we know about, Speed and Nitro will hit shelves this fall, with World Online following in winter. For now, you can can read the press release after the jump, and check out the high-res screenshots below.

Gallery: Need for Speed Shift, Nitro, and World Online

[Source: Joystiq]
Continue reading Need for Speed franchise splitting into trio

Need for Speed franchise splitting into trio originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 02 Feb 2009 19:01:00 EST. Something about knocking a tenth of a second off our best time in the Mazda Demio was as addictive as air. Last Friday we spent an hour in front of the pre-production version of Midnight Club Los Angeles, and we've gotta admit... we're getting the itch for a PS3. Replacing several different cities for one highly detailed rendering of Los Angeles, the new Midnight Club is all about racing wherever you want -- in LA -- and however you want. As you might recall, a Ferrari F430 was harmed during filming. Its closed-course playmates were a Tesla Roadster, SLR McLaren, a '63 'Vette and a sportbike (looks like it could be a Yamaha, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong). Well, today we get news that the final commercial is done. No surprise: it's cool. In other news, I really need to get an XBOX 360.

Thanks to Kardax for the tip. The commercial's embedded after the jump. Go and enjoy.

[Source: DailyMotion]

Gallery: Project Gotham Racing 4

Continue reading VIDEO: Project Gotham 4 hits the airwaves

VIDEO: Project Gotham 4 hits the airwaves originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 09 Sep 2007 12:02:00 EST. The car features a dashboard integrated XBox 360 that pumps its arcade goodness through a projector mounted in place of the rearview mirror. Driver and passenger can then play Forza on the inside of the front-hinged hood that swings up to catch the projector's high-def digital entertainment. Back seat passengers get their own XBox 360, but are forced to play on two roof-mounted LCDs. A full stereo with amps, woofers and the whole bit erase any trunk space, along with an additional 30-inch LCD screen for Halo 2 tailgate parties off the back bumper. The car has also been upgraded with go-fast hardware in the form of a high-flow air intake, cat-back exhaust, sport suspension and better brakes to hasten getaways with your backseat full of stolen XBox consoles.

More shots of the SXBox Concept are hiding out after the jump, along with Suzuki's full press release.

[Source: Suzuki]
Continue reading LA Auto Show: Suzuki SXBox Concept

LA Auto Show: Suzuki SXBox Concept originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 29 Nov 2006 14:02:00 EST. Gamers were given the ability to add three of Caddy's V-Series cars to the already-impressive group of rides included with the game.

This coming weekend, that relationship is going to get some high-profile exposure as the #16 CTS-V SPEED GT racing car will sport a new PGR-themed livery for the Speed World Challenge race at Infineon Raceway. Cadillac is pulling out all the stops to make sure the car does well, as Corvette Racing's Johnny O'Connell will strap in behind the wheel. O'Connell, who along with teammate Ron Fellows has won his last five ALMS races at Infineon, will see if he can work his magic with the Cadillac and finish atop the podium. Reigining SPEED GT champ and Cadillac teammate Andy Pilgrim will join O'Connell on the circuit in the #1 car.

The SPEED GT race is part of this weekend's NASCAR Nextel Cup festivities at Infineon, so a huge crowd and equally huge exposure for the Caddy/XBOX relationship are all but guaranteed.

(Photo, press release after the jump)

[Source: GM]
Continue reading Cadillac CTS-V racer promotes XBOX tie-in this weekend

Cadillac CTS-V racer promotes XBOX tie-in this weekend originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 20 Jun 2006 16:34:00 EST. The winsome blonde counts motorsports among her chief preoccupations, and its hardly the stuff of hanging out in Formula One paddocks as driver arm jewelry. Ms. Kidd is actually becoming increasingly distinguished as a wheelwoman herself, notably for her fastest celebrity lap time on Top Gear, and more recently, for co-driving in a Trofeo Maserati race with Fabio Babani during a Bologna Motorshow event last December (where she finished second). She is also a multiple-Gumball Rally veteran.

Now, Kidd's teaming up to promote Project Gotham Racing 3, 'Game With Fame.' Next Tuesday, May 30, she'll duke it out on the pixilated tracks of the video game, chatting and racing again online gamers around the globe in the PGR100.

The UK's 'Game With Fame' series will also play host to celebrity entrants like Maroon 5, The Strokes, and Kasabian.
