222Chevy Olympics ad that shows same-sex marriage in the spotlight [w/videos]

Chevrolet has launched a new ad campaign set to air throughout the 2014 Winter Olympics called #TheNew. Part of a 14-commercial run, the first ad for #TheNew aired during last week's Opening Ceremony, and has drawn attention for a small part of its 60-second run time. The three to four-second cut showed a same-sex marriage celebration, which Forbes believes is the first time Chevy has ever featured a gay family in one of its ads.

It's not all unfinished hotel rooms and unconventional toilet situations at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. During the broadcast of the opening ceremony tonight, BMW is going to introduce the American TV audience to its plug-in i brand of vehicles. Of course, since we have things like Twitter and YouTube (which the Russian hosts might not be too happy about), you can already see the first spot below.

BMW might be a German brand, but that isn't keeping its US branch from helping out Team USA as the 22nd Winter Olympics gets set to kick off in Sochi, Russia next month. We last reported on BMW's partnership with Team USA's bobsled team in November of 2012, but with barely a month until the opening ceremony, it's about time we hear something new about the team's progress.

Audi's got a thing going with its Truth in Motion films. The first installment took a lush, slow-motion look at what it took to win the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans, and this second installment charts the U.S. ski team's snow-and-drama-covered run to the 2010 Winter Olympics. Like that first doc, it is now available free in iTunes in both regular and HD resolutions.
