<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann/">Wiesmann</a> has long been forbidden fruit of the very tastiest variety for car fans here in the US, and the boutique German sports car maker continues to concoct varieties of its GT that we long to drive. For <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">this year's Geneva show</a>, that means this flaming orange Wiesmann GT MF4-CS.<br />
<br />
It's the last two letters of that name that are the most stirring, as they signify that this is the raciest-yet "Clubsport" version of the GT. With just 25 examples being built worldwide, the GT MF4-CS wraps a sparse interior with the same lascivious bodywork that we've come to expect from Wiesmann. The cockpit has shed such niceties as navigation, air conditioning and even a radio, in search of a lower curb weight (down to 2,976 pounds, unladen). The interior also features an integrated roll cage, racing seats and a fire extinguisher, so it's ultimate track aspirations should be clear from the first time you get behind the wheel.<br />
<br />
As ever, the motive force of this Wiesmann comes courtesy of a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/">BMW</a> engine and gearbox; in this case its front-mounted, naturally aspirated, 4.0-liter V8 making 420 horsepower, and connected to your choice of a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Wiesmann specifies a top speed of 182 miles per hour, and a 0-62 mph sprint of 4.4 seconds. Further, large, 275-section rear rubber (245 at the front) on 19-inch wheels and a locking differential should help to keep all of that power flowing to the tarmac.<br />
<br />
You'll find a full press release regarding the Wiesmann GT MF4-CS as you continue on <a href="/2013/03/05/wiesmann-gt-mf4-cs-geneva-2013/#continued">below</a>, and galleries of both <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf4-cs/">live</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf4-cs/">stock</a> images for your happy browsing, as well.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/05/wiesmann-gt-mf4-cs-geneva-2013/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wiesmann GT MF4-CS offers track-ready forbidden fruit, par excellence</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/05/wiesmann-gt-mf4-cs-geneva-2013/">Wiesmann GT MF4-CS offers track-ready forbidden fruit, par excellence</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 05 Mar 2013 14:41:00 EST. <br />
German sportscar maker <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> has announced it's bringing the GT MF4-CS to say "Tag" to the world at the <a href="http://autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show">Geneva Motor Show</a>. The last two characters in that letterlicious name stand for "Club Sport," making this the stripped-down track-day version of the <a href="http://www.wiesmann.com/en/models/gt_mf4/gt_mf4-s">Wiesmann GT MF4-S</a> - that being the Sport version of the plain-old GT MF4.<br />
<br />
Now that we're clear on that, let's also be clear that we know nothing more about it. Its base vehicle, the 3,014-pound GT MF4-S, uses a V8 with 420 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and takes 4.4 seconds to get to 62 miles per hour from a standstill. It offers the choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and it has a locking rear diff.<br />
<br />
The Club Sport treatment should make things go faster in more ways than one, since Wiesmann says there will only be 25 made. We'll be on the floor in Geneva to take a look at one of them, there's a three-sentence press release below to entertain you in the meantime.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/23/wiesmann-teases-geneva-bound-gt-mf4-cs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wiesmann teases Geneva-bound GT MF4-CS</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/23/wiesmann-teases-geneva-bound-gt-mf4-cs/">Wiesmann teases Geneva-bound GT MF4-CS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 23 Feb 2013 15:03:00 EST. <br />
German automaker <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> teamed up with fashion house Sieger to give its <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/mf3">MF3</a> roadster a fitting send-off after 18 long years on the market. The duo came up with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/31/wiesmann-gives-the-mf3-a-colorful-goodbye/">18 unique designs</a> - one for each year the car was on sale - and one of those cars is currently on display at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>.<br />
<br />
Besides being the perfect ride for a University of Michigan alum, this machine, like all MF3 models, is powered by an inline six-cylinder engine. In this guise, that mill sends a total of 343 horsepower to the rear wheels.<br />
<br />
We're not certain how many of the 18 special edition machines are still available, but we imagine that if yellow and blue just aren't your cup of tea, you've got other options. Like maybe one that's scarlet and gray?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/07/wiesmann-mf3-final-edition-geneva-2012/">Wiesmann MF3 Final Edition is a technicolor dream car</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 07 Mar 2012 16:59:00 EST. <br />
The term "<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/batmobile/">Batmobile</a>" is one that gets thrown around a lot in automotive circles. Pretty much anything black and sinister is described as the Dark Knight's new ride. But aside from the handful of custom vehicles made for the various TV shows and movie installments over the years - ranging from campy to badass - few have been truly worthy of the name. Enter the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> MF5 Black Bat.<br />
<br />
Starting with the top-of-the-line V10-powered MF5 retro roadster, customizers SchwabenFolia and Dahler have produced the closest thing to a genuine Batmobile this side of the Tumbler... particularly when photographed against the backdrop of a rather Wayne Manor-esque gothic mansion. They've wrapped it in matte black, blacked out the chrome and given it a set of noir BBS 20-inch alloys with polished rims.<br />
<br />
There's even a little Batman logo on the back, but the party piece is the ECU reflash and new exhaust that have brought output up from the 507 horsepower featured in the old <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/m5">BMW M5</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/m6">M6</a> to a nice, round 600. Six-piston Brembo calipers keep the power in check, but with that much bat-juice under hood, we wouldn't expect to see this beast sitting still for long - so you'd better check it out in the high-res image gallery if you want to catch a glimpse.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/15/wiesmann-mf5-roadster-channels-caped-crusader-with-black-bat-spe/">Wiesmann MF5 Roadster channels Caped Crusader with Black Bat special</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 15 Nov 2011 16:01:00 EST. <br />
Some cars reach the end of their production cycle, and we miss them when they're gone. But then some we won't. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> MF3 Roadster falls into the latter category.<br />
<br />
You see, it's not that we don't like the Wiesmann. In fact we think it's one of the coolest cars out there, if you're into the retro thing. But the MF3 variant specifically - one of several engine options available on the roadster - is being phased out in favor of more potent powertrains. But not before the niche German automaker gives it a fond farewell.<br />
<br />
For the special task, the company brought in fashion house Sieger to prepare 18 unique special models that are collectively called the Final Edition. We caught up with a rather striking and deliciously striped example here on the floor of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, and are glad to present you with the results.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/14/wiesmann-mf3-final-edition-frankfurt-2011/">Wiesmann and Sieger show us how stripes are done with MF3 Final Edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 14 Sep 2011 05:58:00 EST. <br />
The thing about retro styling is that, since it's anchored not in the contemporary but in the classical, it doesn't age. So you may be as surprised as we were to discover that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> Roadster has been on the market for 18 years now.<br />
<br />
The first version of the retro German sportscar was the MF3, the six-cylinder model that is now being discontinued in favor of bigger engines after nearly two decades of service. But before bidding goodbye to the car that put it on the map, Wiesmann has teamed up with luxury brand Sieger to send it off with a special run of eighteen unique models.<br />
<br />
Each of the blogger's dozen (yeah, we just made up that term) gets a completely unique color scheme both inside and out, and only one of each will be made, bearing names like Panther, Rocket and Chocolat.<br />
<br />
One will be displayed at the rapidly approaching <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt</a> show, and we'll have more for you then, but in the meantime you can delve into the <a href="/2011/08/31/wiesmann-gives-the-mf3-a-colorful-goodbye/#continued">press release after the jump</a> for more details and check out the full spectrum by clicking the quartet above.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/31/wiesmann-gives-the-mf3-a-colorful-goodbye/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wiesmann gives the MF3 a colorful goodbye</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/31/wiesmann-gives-the-mf3-a-colorful-goodbye/">Wiesmann gives the MF3 a colorful goodbye</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 31 Aug 2011 17:32:00 EST. <br />
We're not going to call it attractive. And it's far from revolutionary. But the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Wiesmann/">Wiesmann</a> Spyder concept ticks off all the right boxes for the minimalist speed freak.<br />
<br />
The styling - supposedly cribbed from the Wiesmann brothers' earliest designs - won't stand your hair on end, but everything attached and hidden underneath the blue amorphous bodywork adds up to an uncompromised driving experience.<br />
<br />
Wiesmann claims the Spyder comes in under 2,200 pounds and can accelerate to 62 mph in a scant four seconds before topping out at face-melting 180 mph. There's no windscreen, no doors and nothing but a steering wheel-mounted LCD to keep tabs on the 420-horsepower front-midship V8.<br />
<br />
Wiesmann is calling this a design study for now, but word is that a production model could go on sale as early as 2012, with yet another BMW powerplant under-hood. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/01/wiesmann-spyder-geneva-2011/#continued">Follow the jump</a> for more official details, and examine this thing from every angle in our high-res galleries below.<br />

<br />
We mentioned <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/20/wiesmann-promises-new-spyder-model-for-geneva/">last weekend</a> that German niche sports car manufacturer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Wiesmann/">Wiesmann</a> was bringing a new concept to Geneva to gauge interest in a possible production version, and here it is. Color us very interested. Full details on the Wiesmann Spyder are yet to be released, but judging by the photos, it should impress.<br />
<br />
Our team in Geneva will have more details and plenty of live photos of the Spyder concept once the exposition officially gets underway. Until then, head over to Autogespot check out one more angle of Wiesmann's sports car.<br />

<br />
Niche manufacturers rarely offer more than a single model line. In <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a>'s case, that line consists of the GT, with its various <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw">BMW</a>-sourced <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/21/wiesmann-upgrades-all-v10-models-to-twin-turbo-v8/">propulsion options</a>, and its Roadster counterpart (pictured above). But like fellow German exoticar maker <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/gumpert">Gumpert</a>, Wiesmann will roll into <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva</a> with a new model for our consideration: the Weismann Spyder.<br />
<br />
Few details are available at this point, but the Wiesmann Spyder will be stripped down, lacking even doors or a windscreen. We assume it'll be based on the current Roadster, but Wiesmann stresses that it has not yet approved the Spyder model for production, and is bringing it to Geneva to gauge public opinion. We'll be watching, and you can follow the jump for the official statement.<br />

<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Wiesmann/">Wiesmann</a> was in a bit of a pickle when <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/17/report-wiesmann-mf5-exiting-production-as-bmw-v10-supply-dries/">BMW announced it was no longer producing its V10</a>. In addition to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/m5">M5</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/m6">M6</a>, the high-revving 10 was used to power the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/16/frankfurt-2009-wiesmann-mf5-roadster-gets-its-lipstick-on/">Roadster MF5 and GT MF5</a> and we assumed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/12/spy-shots-wiesmann-coupe-prototype-looking-sinister/">Wiesmann would make the switch to the new 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine</a>. We were right. What we didn't guess is that it would be sticking the new mill under the hoods of both the Roadster MF4 and GT MF4. The Wiesmann MF3 will retain its 343 horsepower six-cylinder engine.<br />
<br />
No word yet on how much power the twin-turbo will produce when utilized with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/03/geneva-2010-wiesmann-gt-mf4-s-gives-em-something-to-talk-about/">MF4</a>, but when stuffed into the engine bay of the MF5 it's set to produce 555 horsepower, allowing it to run from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds, hit a top speed of 193 mph and become the most powerful Wiesmann ever produced.<br />

<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann/"> Wiesmann</a>, builder of exotic sport coupes that boast <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a> power, has been working out a problem. The issue is that its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/17/report-wiesmann-mf5-exiting-production-as-bmw-v10-supply-dries/">sporty two-door MF5 and GT MF5 both featured V10 Teutonic muscle</a>, but that engine has since been put to sleep. Apparently, they've now figured out what mill they want to place under their cars' long snouts. Spy photographers in Germany managed to capture a blacked-out Wiesmann GT MF5 taking a cruise and stopping for fuel.<br />
<br />
Wiesmann have stated that even though the V10 has gone away, the MF5 will not. New versions will be produced utilizing an as-yet unannounced BMW engine. Our guess? The new 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that will be found in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/07/spy-shots-bmw-m6-convertible-takes-to-the-track/">next-generation BMW M5/M6</a>. That would be a nice jump in power for the Wiesmann MF5, since the V10 was rated at 500 horsepower and the new twin-turbo V8 is rated closer to 560 hp. <br />

<br />
It's not easy to build a car without an engine. Shocking news, we know, but it has major ramifications for small boutique automakers that don't have the resources to design and manufacture powerplants of their own. One such company is <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/weismann">Wiesmann</a>, which has historically relied on engines from German automaker <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/bmw/">BMW</a>.<br />
<br />
As you may know, Wiesmann's top-level <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/mf5">MF5</a> borrows the same V10 engine that BMW uses in its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/m5">M5</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/m6">M6</a>. As good a choice as any other, no? Problem is, those models are currently being phased out and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/07/bmw-m5-production-comes-to-an-end/">production has just come to an end</a>... and that includes those V10 engines we were just talking about.<br />
<br />
And without an engine... well, you know the rest. It's not entirely clear what Wiesmann is going to do moving forward - and our trusty Google Translator is having a hard time deciphering exactly what our <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=de&amp;u=www.focus.de/auto/news/bmw-liefert-keine-v10-motoren-aus-fuer-wiesmann-top-modell_aid_541483.html&amp;ei=aDNpTMi_BM2nnAeM-rHBBQ&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=translate&amp;ct=result&amp;resnum=1&amp;ved=0CBQQ7gEwAA&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3Dwww.foc">German source</a> is trying to say - but it seems the specialty car company may either cancel its MF5 entirely or attempt to switch over to BMW's new twin-turbo V8. We'll see.<br />
<br />
<strong>*Update:</strong> <em>Wiesmann reports back the following: Yes we stop producing the MF5 with the V10 engine but we will not stop the MF5 model. We are currently in discussion which engine we will take. It will surely be BMW but the details have not been decided yet.</em><br />

<br />
With all the hullabaloo - yes, hullabaloo - about the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/sls+amg">Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG</a>, it would've been all too easy to assume the new gullwing is the only retro German sportscar on the market. But forgetting the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> GT would be a cardinal sin and capital offense, because the niche-market sportscar is among the most tantalizing on the road. While the design may be decidedly old-school, Wiesmann works tirelessly to keep it fresh with successive updates to propel this time-machine well past the requisite 88 miles per hour and out from the past and into the present. <br />
<br />
At this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, the small German outfit rolled out the modestly updated GT MF4-S. New bi-xenon headlamps show the way home and a new automatically- or manually-actuated retractable spoiler keeps the tail planted. Under the hood, the MF4-S is treated to the same 4.0-liter, 420-horsepower V8 as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/bmw/m3">BMW M3</a> from which it's sourced and, more poignantly, the MF4-S Roadster. All in all not major changes, but then who ever said the Wiesmann needed much changed?<br />
<br />
The Wiesmann GT MF4-S will push you to highway speeds in four seconds flat and cost 133,000 euros (equivalent to about $175k). If that's too rich for your blood, you can take a gander in the galleries below and browse the details in the press release after the jump.<br />

<br />
Here at Autoblog, we loves us some Wiesmann. The voluptuous, retro-styled German roadsters and coupes win us over with their classic proportions and their BMW powertrains - and color palate aside, this new MF5 looks to be just what the doctor ordered. <br />
<br />
Brandishing a full 507 horsepower (evocative number for a roadster with a Bimmer heart, don't you think?) from its 5.0-liter V10, the MF5 reportedly clips 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and will tickle your follicles to the tune of 192 mph. <br />
<br />
Wiesmann says they'll make just 55 examples, so chances are this will be the only enamel white example with screaming red trim and a bloodbath of an interior. We're fine with that. Wiessman, we still love thee, but at 189,500 Euros ($278,000+ USD), we'll take a subtler color combo. Check out our high-res live shots below and the official press release after the jump.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Weismann MF5 Roadster - Click above for high-res image</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Wiesmann's made an all-out drop-top assault in 2009, beginning with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-is-so-black-it-casts-no-shado/">367-hp V8-powered MF4 Roadster</a> unveiled at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in March. As reported earlier, the retrotastic automaker hailing from Dulmen, Germany is bringing another open-aired creation to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, and it's finally released a teaser shot to whet our appetites ahead of the big day.<br />
<br />
Powered by the BMW M5/M6-derived V10, Weismann says the 507-hp MF5 Roadster hits the magic 60 MPH mark in 3.9 seconds - the same as its fixed roof sibling - and can blast to a top speed of 192 mph. <br />
<br />
Aside from the cloth roof, the body remains unchanged and all the standard equipment carries over to the Roadster, including the dual airbags, ABS and stability control. Pricing is expected to crest the $250,000 mark, but with Weismann only planning to produce 55 examples, we have little doubt they'll find their way into enthusiastic collector's garages. Make the jump for the official release.<br />

<br />
No, really. Well, more like during some of the Wiesmann engineers will put the finishing touches on a GT MF4 during the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a> introduction of the brand's new BMW V10-powered GT MF5 Roadster. But still, that's different. Why are they doing this? "<span lang="EN-GB">Only this way we will be able to show our manufacturing skills and our productive efficiency to the exhibition-visitors, the customers, and the media-exponents. Like in Duelmen [where Wiesmann's factory is located] everyone can take a look at our work in Frankfurt." So says business manager Friedhelm Wiesmann. Hey, why not?<br />
<br />
We'll be there to watch the build live, but in case you can't make, <a href="http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/iaa-2009-wiesmann-baut-den-gt-mf4-live-vor-publikum-1388347.html"><em>Auto Motor und Sport</em></a> will be streaming the event live on the web. Hey, again, why not? Full press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/27/wiesmann-will-build-a-car-live-at-the-frankfurt-auto-show/">after the jump</a>, which includes the highly memorable line, "</span><span lang="EN-GB">the Duelmen manufacturer will mount a car during the car-exhibition."</span> Oh, those kinky Germans. <br />

<br />With the international auto show rolling in to Frankfurt only once every other year, you can bet that Germany's automakers will be there in full force to show off their latest wares. And in between the new Porsches and BMWs, niche automaker Wiesmann will also be showcasing its new limited production MF5 Roadster.<br /><br />Taking the best attributes from the MF4 Roadster and the MF5 GT, the MF5 Roadster packs the 507-horsepower V10 engine from the BMW M5 and M6 and packs it into a lightweight retro roadster frame for what promises to be an exhilarating drive. The sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) comes in just 3.9 seconds before topping out at a claimed 310 km/h (192 mph). <br /><br />Only 55 examples will be built, and sold at a list price of &euro;189,500 (circa $313k USD). You can check out the details in the press release after the jump, and while Wiesmann hasn't released images of the MF5 Roadster specifically, you can check out its MF5 GT and MF4 Roadster stablemates in the galleries below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf5-pre-preview">Wiesmann GT MF5: Pre-preview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf5-pre-preview/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/mf5_b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf5-pre-preview/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/mf5_c_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf5-pre-preview/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/mf5_d_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf5-pre-preview/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/mf5_e_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-gt-mf5-pre-preview/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/mf5_f_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4">Wiesmann Roadster MF4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Wiesmann]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/19/wiesmann-to-unveil-limited-production-mf5-roadster-in-frankfurt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wiesmann to unveil limited production MF5 Roadster in Frankfurt</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/19/wiesmann-to-unveil-limited-production-mf5-roadster-in-frankfurt/">Wiesmann to unveil limited production MF5 Roadster in Frankfurt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 19 Aug 2009 11:00:00 EST. <br />The 2009 FIA GT Championship kicked off this weekend at England's stoic Silverstone circuit, and with it a number of new racing machines - including competition versions of the Nissan GT-R, Audi R8 and Ford GT - started their bid for the crown. But at the front of the field was another beast entirely. While other racing series tend to go with more mainstream, albeit high-end vehicles to set the pace at their events - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/01/chicago-auto-show-corvette-indy-500-pace-car-edition/">Corvettes at Indy</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/12/setting-the-pace-bmw-x6-m-debuts-as-motogp-safety-car/">Bimmers at MotoGP</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/27/mercedes-benz-sl63-amg-returns-as-f1-safety-car-for-2009/">Mercedes AMGs at F1 grands prix</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/18/mercedes-offers-up-c63-amg-as-official-safety-car-of-dtm/">DTM</a> - the FIA GT Championship has opted to go with something decidedly more obscure: the Wiesmann MF5.<br /><br />The niche retro sportscar is made by small German exotic automaker Weismann, and is differentiated from the stock GT by the motivation of one of the most lauded engines in autodom: the high-revving V10 from the BMW M5 and M6. With over 500 horsepower under the hood, the MF5 hits 60 in less than four seconds, giving it the pace it needs to stay ahead of the field.<br /><br />[Source: Wiesmann]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/03/safety-first-wiesmann-mf5-sets-the-pace-for-fia-gt-championship/">Safety First: Wiesmann MF5 sets the pace for FIA GT Championship</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 03 May 2009 10:11:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the Wiesmann MF4 Roadster</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Since its inception back in 1985, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Wiesmann">Wiesmann</a> has been busy building beautiful retro-themed coupes and convertibles, and to celebrate its 20th anniversary (of what, exactly, we're not sure) the automaker has just released its MF4 Roadster at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a>. We love the old-school looks, especially the soft top that collapses on the rear parcel shelf as it does on classic British and German roadsters. The running gear, though, is thoroughly modern and highlighted by a modified version of the BMW M3's 4.0-liter V8, in this case tuned to put out 367 horsepower. <br /><br />If you want one, you'd better act fast. Wiesmann only plans to assemble between 250 and 350 units this year, and they are only available in Europe for now. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-weismann-roadster-mf4">Geneva 2009: Wiesmann Roadster MF4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-weismann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-gen-09-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-weismann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-gen-09-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-weismann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-gen-09-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-weismann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-gen-09-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-weismann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-gen-09-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4">Wiesmann Roadster MF4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-roadster-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-w-mann-gt4-roadster_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/05/geneva-2009-wiesmann-roadster-mf4-is-so-black-it-casts-no-shado/">Geneva 2009: Wiesmann Roadster MF4 is so black it casts no shadow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 14:57:00 EST. The first 20th Anniversary Model from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/28/the-konga-line-forms-here-wiesmann-celebrates-with-special-edit/">Weismann is the MF4-S GT</a>, and the follow-up model will be a convertible version of the V8-powered coupe.<br /><br />The Wiesmann MF4 Roadster loses its roof but will gain a soft-top, with power provided by the same BMW-sourced 367hp, 4.0-liter V8. A MF4-S Roadster is also in the works, packing a 4.8-liter V8 putting out 420 hp.<br /><br />Wiesmann plans to increase output from 250 to 350 units this year, but for the time being, sales will remain exclusively in Europe.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-mf4">Wiesmann MF4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/wiesmann_mf4s_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/wiesmann_mf4s_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/wiesmann_mf4s_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/wiesmann_mf4s_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/wiesmann-mf4/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/wiesmann_mf4s_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://209.85.173.102/translate_c?hl=en&amp;sl=de&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/wiesmann-der-mf4-roadster-debuetiert-in-genf-967176.html&amp;prev=_t&amp;usg=ALkJrhhuAJAUIx-ZgJK9q-7uHF3ofEiCXw">Auto Motor und Sport</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/geneva-preview-wiesmann-mf4-convertible-teased/">Geneva Preview: Wiesmann MF4 convertible teased</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 14:58:00 EST.
