Here's a shocker for our loyal readers - Volkswagen has just released a special app just for the iPad. Sarcasm aside, the German automaker has released a new consumer magazine for the tablet called the Digital Automotive Space, or DAS. The company plans to publish content on its products via the digital magazine quarterly, and it will be available in five languages. VW says the app will feature plenty of tricks that will be unavailable anywhere else, including unique 360-degree images, videos and other multimedia doodads.

The DAS is free, which is a good thing considering that it's essentially one big advertisement. Be sure to check it out in the Apple App Store and let us know what you think. Hit the jump to see the press release.
