<br />
Ford has been pushing its EcoBoost engines hard since they came out of the gate, with almost as many commercials touting its twin-turbo technology as we've seen all other Blue Oval spots combined. And all that marketing mojo appears to be paying off, as the Ford Motor Company has told <em>The Detroit News</em> that EcoBoost has really taken off on the showroom floor. <br />
<br />
Ford just started offering EcoBoost in July, but the early returns show that customers are very interested in Ford's promise of V8 performance with V6 fuel economy. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/mks">Lincoln MKS</a> sales have been 30 percent EcoBoost, while the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/taurus+sho">Taurus SHO</a> is currently accounting for 20 percent off all sales of Ford's new large sedan. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/first-drive-2010-lincoln-mkt-ecoboost/#4">MKT</a> has only been on the market for a month, but early returns show that over 40 percent of customers want 355 horsepower in their giant crossover. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/flex">Ford Flex</a> is seeing a 13 percent EcoBoost take rate, nearly double the expected 8 percent figure. <br />
<br />
In fact, Ford says all four EcoBoost-equipped vehicles are exceeding expectations to date, and the engine tech also appears to be bringing in conquest customers at an accelerated rate. For example, an impressive 44 percent of Taurus buyers come from another OEM, while the number jumps to 54 percent with the EcoBoost-equipped Taurus SHO. The MKT has a similar 10 percent conquest boost courtesy of turbo power. And those conquest wins at the dealership also add to Ford's bottom line, as EcoBoost-equipped vehicles carry a $5,000 to $10,000 MSRP bump versus their naturally aspirated counterparts.<br />
<br />
While the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine looks like an early success, the real turbo test comes when other, higher volume EcoBoost engines hit the market. Some future boosted Ford engines will come in 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter displacements, and the DetNews is reporting that a much smaller, 1.0-liter three-cylinder version is on the way for applications like the new Fiesta and Focus. Engines as small as 1.0-liter are sure to be an efficiency boon for the Blue Oval, with potential paybacks in the high 40 MPG range in the EPA highway cycle.<br />
<br />
The next vehicles to receive EcoBoost will reportedly be the F-150 and Ford Explorer toward the end of next year. Ford is hoping to push the engine tech on 90 percent of its models within the next few years, with up to 1.3M global EcoBoost sales.<br />

<br />
We've never been fond of blatantly pimping the sites of our colleagues, but if (like us) you've been jonesing for tech-rich features and import performance stories after the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/source-interlink-kills-i-sport-compact-car-i-laying-off-115/">unfortunate demise of <em>Sport Compact Car</em></a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/31/rumormill-turbo-and-high-tech-performance-magazine-gets-the-axe/"><em>Turbo</em></a>, <a href="http://motoiq.com/">MotoIQ</a> has stepped up to fill the void.<br />
<br />
Headed up by Mike Kojima and featuring the insightful scribblings of Eric Hsu, Sarah Forst and Dave Coleman, MotoIQ's first few months of publication have erred on the Nissan-centric side. But recently they've added both a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SubaruWRXSTI/">Subaru WRX STI</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/MitsubishiEvolutionX/">Mitsubishi Evolution X</a> to their stable of project cars, along with documented the progress of their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SciontC/">Scion tC</a> Speed World Challenge racer and work on a Honda motorcycle.<br />
<br />
Thanks to Kojima, it's overly geeky (which we like) and Coleman's return to the world of writing has provided plenty of laughs around Autoblog HQ. If sport compact performance is your thing, it's worth checking out. We wouldn't lead you astray, would we?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/29/motoiq-provides-sport-compact-geeks-a-port-in-the-storm/">MotoIQ provides sport compact geeks a port in the storm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 Oct 2009 09:00:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Porsche 911 Turbo - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
With its new-for-2010 direct-injected, 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/07/porsche-unveils-facelifted-2010-911-turbo-packing-500-horsepower/">upgraded 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo</a> has fired a shot across the bow of the world's supercar armada. Promising better performance, better fuel economy and better emissions, this tweaked 997 should hold the fort until the 998 appears in a couple of years.<br />
<br />
With 20 extra horsepower motivating the lightened (by 55 pounds) all-wheel drive coupe, it should be noticeably quicker than its 2009 counterpart. How much quicker? <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/243973/"><em>Autocar</em></a> is reporting that it's a full ten seconds faster around the Nurburgring Nordschleife than a 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo. That means the new Turbo just breaks into the 7:30s at 7m 39sec.<br />
<br />
That still puts it behind the rival Nissan GT-R at 7:28 after former Formula One driver, Toshio Suzuki, went out and shaved more than a second off the car's previous best. Of course, Porsche still has a possible <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/26/rumormill-porsche-911-turbo-s-coming/">Turbo S</a> model in the works and already produces a wicked <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/15/frankfurt-2009-2010-porsche-911-gt3-rs-is-pretty-dang-sweet/">911 GT3 RS</a> that can probably close the official gap between them and Godzilla.<br />

The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/07/porsche-unveils-facelifted-2010-911-turbo-packing-500-horsepower/">2010 Porsche 911 Turbo</a> differs from the Six Million Dollar Man in one crucial way; while it's better, faster, stronger, it can also be much, much yellower if you prefer. However, the last thing you want to be is yellow if you plan to explore the Turbo's capabilities. These 500 hp respond best to firm commands, the new Porsche Torque Vectoring responds to firm inputs, and the Coupe's $132,800 price tag ($143,800 for the Cab) respond to a bank account with the firmest of foundations. Perhaps our favorite thing about the car: no gas guzzler tax. That's hot for so many reasons. Not to diss yellow, but we'll stick with a manual black-on-black Coupe with the center-lugged wheels. The one on the Frankfurt show floor wouldn't be a problem, either.<br />

<br />
To be honest, there have been points at which it felt like this new Saab 9-5 would never see the light of day. To say that the outgoing model had grown long in the tooth would be a colossal understatement, and in the hyper-competitive market that is the globe's entry-level premium segment, the 9-5 had become something of a placeholder, playing second fiddle to the automaker's newer, more dynamic 9-3. So with its own cheaper sibling playing the role of upstager and parent General Motors in the throes of bankruptcy, we didn't exactly have faith that Saab would ever launch this new sedan. But after an arduous development process and a new owner in the form of supercar maker Koenigsegg, the future looks - if not bright - at least markedly less dim.<br />
<br />
If we sound like we're damning the 2010 9-5 with faint praise, we're not - after sitting in the car today at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a> and talking extensively with members of Saab's team, we're actually rather optimistic that the perennially underweight automaker may yet emerge from its funk and put some rouge back in the 'ol Griffin. But until we drive it, we're going to reserve judgment before we break out the akvavit and reindeer steaks - we've been here before.<br />
<br />
One thing's for sure - this new, larger 9-5 looks incredibly crisp in the metal. With clean flanks, a distinctive, cantilevered roofline paired with wraparound-look glass and handsome head- and tail lamp detailing, this is an attractive, cohesive design sans adornment - no gaping ducts, fender vents, or protruding aero addenda are in evidence anywhere. Very much in the Scandinavian mold, the 9-5 pulls design elements from the showstopping Saab Aero-X concept coupe and puts them in a real-world package. Similarly, like Scandinavian furniture, the design won't be to everyone's tastes.<br />
<br />
Inside, there's gobs more space than in the outgoing car both front and rear, and the design has been tastefully updated in a driver-centric way that honors the marque's quirkiness (Night Panel button, eggcrate grid air vents, etc.) without becoming a caricature of Saabs past. Reinforcing the aeronautically-minded "Born From Jets" theme that had become something of a punchline with distractions like the 9-7x SUV, Saab has adopted new features like an optional heads-up display and a novel altimeter-like digital speedometer readout in case you aren't interested making use of the clear analogue gauges.<br />

<div align="center"><em><strong><small>Ford FG Falcon G-Series - Click above for image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Ford made news this week when it <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/21/ford-announces-2-0-liter-ecoboost-and-dual-clutch-gearbox-for-20/">officially announced</a> its four-cylinder EcoBoost engine; an engine that promises V6 performance with four-banger efficiency. The company's twin-turbo technology is expected to infiltrate almost every part of its lineup within the next few years, and it'll be available just about everywhere on earth, including Australia.<br /><br />To that end, Ford has just announced that it will be adding the 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine to Australia's Falcon lineup. The new engine will give Australian customers a more fuel efficient option in the popular sedan, while also packing nearly the same punch as the V6-powered Holden Commodore. Ford says the Falcon will be the first rear-drive vehicle to receive an EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which means the Mustang won't receive the 2.0-liter turbo until late 2011 at the earliest (and possibly never).<br /><br />Ford is investing $230 million overall to improve the efficiency of its Australian lineup, with the EcoBoost 2.0-liter, a 2.7-liter diesel unit for its Territory crossover, and a new LPG engine for its fleet offerings. The Australian government is pitching in, too, as they are giving Ford $42 million as part of the nation's Green Car Innovation Fund. Local Victoria government officials are also pitching in an unspecified amount of money, helping ease costs for the Blue Oval.<br /><br />Ford has also announced that it will not build the next-generation Focus in Australia, opting instead to import the popular small car from Thailand. Ford Australia was planning to build 45,000 Focuses a year, with 15,000 units destined for export. Ford says no jobs will be affected by the change of plans. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/24/ford-australia-adds-four-banger-to-falcon-opts-not-to-build-foc/">Hit the jump</a> to review the company's officla press release.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-fg-falcon-g-series/low/">Ford FG Falcon G-Series</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-fg-falcon-g-series/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/000fgfalcong_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-fg-falcon-g-series/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/001fgfalcong_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-fg-falcon-g-series/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/002fgfalcong_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-fg-falcon-g-series/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/003fgfalcong_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-fg-falcon-g-series/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/004fgfalcong_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Ford, <a href="http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?articleID=64516">Drive</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/24/ford-falcon-to-be-first-rwd-four-cylinder-ecoboost-application/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford: Falcon to be first RWD four-cylinder EcoBoost car. <div align="center"><strong><em><small>2010 Acura RDX - Click above for image gallery</small></em></strong><br /></div>
<br />Last week, we <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/14/leaked-is-this-the-2010-acura-rdx/">showed you a few photos of what looked to be the 2010 Acura RDX</a> that had begun floating around the interwebs. A subsequent call to Acura confirmed that they were, in fact, the real deal. Now, without any fanfare, the updated compact crossover has appeared on the company's website, complete with specification changes and pricing.<br /><br />As shown earlier, the RDX is indeed on the receiving end of the corporate shield grille rhinoplasty, and also gets new fog lamps and air inlets. The rear end has been cleaned up as well, with new hexagonal exhaust inlets with stylized cutouts and a mesh insert in the fascia's lower reaches.<br /><br />The big news for 2010 is the availability of a front-drive version, which helps shed weight and parasitic drag to increase fuel economy. At an EPA estimated 19 miles-per-gallon city and 24 highway, the RDX still strikes us as behind the curve, but perhaps not as much as the (unchanged) 17/22 figures of the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) version. <br /><br />Predictably, this least-complex RDX is also the cheapest, ringing up at $32,520 plus delivery. If you do want the foul-weather security of all-wheel drive, you'll have to pay a minimum of $34,520. Plump for the technology package (which includes traffic- and weather-linked sat-nav, premium Acura/ELS surround sound, and so on), you're looking at $35,620 in front-drive guise, and $37,620 for all-wheel drive.<br /><br />We see no mention of streaming audio as hinted at earlier, but Bluetooth telephony is still part of the mix. Further, a rearview camera will come standard, even if one doesn't pony up for the Technology pack with navigation.<br /><br />No matter which model you choose, the RDX continues to be motivated by the same turbocharged, intercooled 2.3-liter four-cylinder, giving 240 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. <br /><br />We'll keep our eyes peeled for an official press release and a full complement of high-res images, but for now, enjoy our screencap'd gallery below. <em>Thanks for the tip, Trevor!</em><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx/low/">2010 Acura RDX</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx_580-main1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-stock_-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-stock_-(10)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-stock_-(11)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-stock_-(12)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.acura.com/ModelLanding.aspx?model=RDX&amp;modelYear=2010">Acura</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/24/confirmed-2010-rdx-peeks-out-on-acura-website/">CONFIRMED: 2010 RDX peeks out on Acura website</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 24 Jul 2009 10:27:00 EST. <br />
Just a year after the Ford Flex first appeared, the Blue Oval has revamped its lineup in ways that make the 2010 model quite different from its forebearer. First among the changes is the Blue Oval's EcoBoost engine, which packs 3.5 liters of displacement and a duo of turbochargers to produce V8 power with V6 fuel economy. Autoblog went to the Colorado hinterlands to spend some with with the Flex and its new powerplant, and as we found out, there's more to Ford's boxy crossover than boosted performance and fuel economy.<br />

<br />The first shots of what is allegedly Acura's pending 2010 RDX have hit the web, and unsurprisingly, the small performance crossover appears to have received the Japanese automaker's controversial corporate shield-shaped grille. Other changes to the restyled nose include dramatically reshaped fog lights, restyled bumper air inlets with matte black surround, and so on.<br /><br />Out back, from what we can see from the limited photographs shown here, hexagonal exhaust outlets have taken up residence (the old pipes were round), and there appears to be an aggressive new rear bumper fascia with a more stylized surround to the exhausts and a mesh insert.<br /><br />In addition to the tweaked front end, website SatoAuto reports that the upcoming RDX will also mark the availability of a new two-wheel drive version (front-drive, presumably) to give buyers a less costly, more fuel-efficient alternative to the current Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) model. The website says the new package features revised gearing and is expected to weigh about 200 pounds less than the grips-at-all-paws version - good news considering that package only manages 17 miles-per-gallon city and 22 on the highway in the 2009 model.<br /><br />Inside, new available features on the sporty crossover include USB iPod integration, Bluetooth audio, a revised backup camera with guide lines, ambient lighting, and so on. For buyers who don't opt for the navigation system, there's apparently a new stand-alone option for a reverse camera that displays what's behind the vehicle through the rearview mirror. Finally, those who do plump for the navigation system will get AcuraLink Real-Time weather, dynamic traffic routing, and an enhanced XM satellite radio. <br /><br />The rest of the 2010 RDX's drivetrain figures to be unchanged, SatoAuto says, so count on the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder returning with 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque as before. Check out the not-so-high-res gallery and then click on the link.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx-leaked-images/low/">2010 Acura RDX Leaked Images</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx-leaked-images/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-leaked-photos-_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx-leaked-images/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-photos-(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx-leaked-images/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-photos-(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-acura-rdx-leaked-images/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/2010-acura-rdx-photos-(3)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://satoauto.com/cblog/index.php?/archives/180-The-2010-RDX-is-Coming-Soon.html">SatoAuto</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/14/leaked-is-this-the-2010-acura-rdx/">LEAKED: Is this the 2010 Acura RDX?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 14 Jul 2009 16:58:00 EST. <br />For one reason or another, we've always thought that if you delved deep enough into the history of Subaru, you'd discover the Japanese automaker is, in fact, Swedish. One can imagine rifling through the company's dusty archives, only to discover that at some point in time, through some quirk of fate - or perhaps a common love of fish - Subaru was born in Scandinavia, yet it ended up turning Japanese (I really think so). Just look at the evidence: Quirky styling? Check. Steadfast adherence to left-field drivetrains? Check. Time-honored emphasis on honest utility? Check. Willfully different clientele base? Check. Good in winter? Uh-huh. Sound like any Swedish automakers we know?<br /><br />There's one key difference between the Nipponese automaker and its kindred spirits over at Saab and Volvo, and it's a biggie: Subaru is making money, and they're picking up share. Year-to-date, Subie has lost just 1.8% of its sales year-over-year in America's wretched, turd-down-the-toilet economy. In this "flat is the new up" market, that's a stellar performance - far better than any other mainline automaker, including current industry darlings Hyundai/Kia. And after a day's drive in the firm's new-for-2010 Legacy, we think they're poised for even greater success. Follow the jump to find out why.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy/low/">First Drive: 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/legacyfd000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/legacyfd001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/legacyfd002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/legacyfd003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/legacyfd004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2008 Chris Paukert / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/29/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy-improves-commercial-appeal-reta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First Drive: 2010 Subaru Legacy improves commercial appeal, retains character</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/29/first-drive-2010-subaru-legacy-improves-commercial-appeal-reta/">First Drive: 2010 Subaru Legacy improves commercial appeal, retains character</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 29 Jun 2009 11:55:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Despite the departure of controversial lead designer Chris Bangle, BMW is showing no signs of returning to the "One sausage, three-sizes" styling brief that it once adhered to. The latest proof of this is the announcement of the production 5 Series Gran Turismo, which, as expected, looks little changed from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-bmw-5-series-gran-turismo-is-one-luxurious-automoti/">the concept that set tongues wagging in Geneva</a>, save for a few details like smaller wheels, more conventional interior fabrics and real-world-sized side mirrors.<br /><br />The genre-blurring 5 Series GT is, in the words of BMW, meant to combine "the characteristic features of a prestige saloon, a modern, highly versatile Sports Activity Vehicle, and a classic Gran Turismo" - outwardly, at least, we'd say that they've succeeded in meeting that goal, although the final judgment on whether this amalgam of characteristics is a even a direction worth pursuing will ultimately be made by consumers.<br /><br />In the meantime, we can focus not only on the five-door hatchback's design, but also its internals, as BMW has released specifications and pricing for its European market models.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/2029944/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" class="right border" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/p90045868_imageb_opt_opt.jpg" /></a>In the main, BMW has disclosed that Europe's gasoline model range will be composed of the 306 horsepower, 3.0-liter 535i Gran Turismo (a derivative of the fabulous dual-turbo inline-six seen in the engine bays of the 1, 3, and 5 Series) and the 550i Gran Turismo, which relies on a stonking dual-turbo 4.4-liter V8 good for 407 horsepower, an engine that promises to be just the thing when you're running late for your squash court appointment. Finally, there's the 530d Gran Turismo, which offers a 3.0-liter, 245 horsepower I6 diesel powerplant and a tidy C02 rating of 173 grams per kilometer. Regardless of which engine the buyer chooses, the sole gearbox offering will be the eight-speed automatic gearbox borrowed from the 760i luxury sedan. The cog-happy unit should not only help with overall fuel economy, but it makes any model in the range a sprightly performer, with BMW quoting 0-62 mph times of 6.3 seconds for the 535i GT, 5.5 seconds for the 550i GT, and a thoroughly respectable 6.9 seconds for the 530d GT (which also achieves 43.5 miles per imperial gallon, or around 36 mpg US).<br /><br />It isn't yet clear what models will come to the States, but we're hearing that the 550i will be the first to make the journey, and it is likely to arrive carrying a price tag of around $70,000, which would represent around a $10,000 premium over the less-powerful 550i sedan. Check out the official video and complete press release after the jump, as well as the massive high-res gallery below. <em>Thanks to everyone for the tips!</em><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/low/">2010 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/5_gt_ab_gally20090522_49_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/5_gt_ab_gally20090522_48_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/5_gt_ab_gally20090522_44_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/5_gt_ab_gally20090522_42_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/official-bmw-5-series-granturismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/p90045867_imagea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: BMW]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/22/officially-official-bmw-drops-the-details-on-its-2010-5-series/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Officially Official: BMW drops the details on its 2010 5 Series Gran Turismo [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/22/officially-official-bmw-drops-the-details-on-its-2010-5-series/">Officially Official: BMW drops the details on its 2010 5 Series Gran Turismo [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 22 May 2009 11:28:00 EST. <br />We hope to have our very first driving impressions of Ford's new EcoBoost powertrain technology for you later today, but in the meantime, the Blue Oval has just announced that the first vehicle to rely on EcoBoost motivation, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/12/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-latest-to-get-ecoboost-v6/">2010 MKS</a>, now has a price tag: $47,760 (<span style="font-weight: bold;">*</span>excluding destination and delivery charges).<br /><br />In the case of the MKS, the 3.5-liter direct-injection twin-turbo V6 generates 355 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque - the latter delivered in billiard table-smooth fashion from 1,500 rpm to 5,250 rpm. Paired with a six-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the force-fed MKS promises lots of gumption to go along with the MKS' already impressive interior tech offerings.<br /><br />Ford says that the EcoBoost MKS will arrive carrying 19-inch alloys, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive HID headlamps with automatic high-beams, an ambient lighting array, and a power rear sunshade. For those looking for more visual differentiation, however, you'll have to wait a bit for the "late availability" MKS Appearance Package (pricing TBD) which includes visual go-faster bits including 20-inch alloys, a different grille, revised aero pieces, and different badging. Inside, the frosting amounts to package-specific seating (sienna with charcoal black seams, black stitching and logo'd headrests), a leather-wrapped wheel, and dual-color backlit sill plates. We'll relay the complete pricing information and options list as it becomes available, but for now, check out the high-res galleries below and the official press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/15/new-2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost-to-start-at-47-760/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/">Detroit 2009: Lincoln MKS with EcoBoost</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboostlive_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboostlive_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboostlive_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboostlive_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboostlive_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/">2010 Lincoln MKS with EcoBoost</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboost_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboost_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboost_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboost_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/mksecoboost_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Live Photos copyright (C)2009 </small></strong><small><a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/"><strong>Drew Phillips</strong></a><strong> / Weblogs, Inc.</strong></small></em><br />[Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/15/new-2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost-to-start-at-47-760/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New 2010 Lincoln MKS with EcoBoost to start at $47,760*</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/15/new-2010-lincoln-mks-with-ecoboost-to-start-at-47-760/">New 2010 Lincoln MKS with EcoBoost to start at $47,760*</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 15 May 2009 08:57:00 EST. <br />The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is already winning praise from the motoring press, and enthusiasts are itching to get their hands on the RWD Korean 2+2. While some are seeking out the uplevel 300-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6 model, many tuners are itching to get their hands on the entry 2.0T powerplant. At 211-hp, the base model isn't going to win many street races, but countless mods promise to produce tremendous amounts of power with less weight. <br /><br />Tuner<em> Beyond Redline</em> took apart the 2.0T to see exactly what Hyundai gave tuners to work with. For starters, the block is evidently sourced from the Mitsubishi Ralliart, which is different from the more structurally sound EVO X block. <em>Beyond Redline</em> expects the engine's sturdy components and 86mm stroke and bore to make 400 wheel-horsepower and rev to 8,000 RPM with the proper mods and a stock block. While the 2.0T gives modders plenty of room for overclocking, the engine's open deck block means that too much boost could warp the cylinders. Block guards can be used to reinforce the cylinder walls, but that means additional work and cash to really kick the 2.0T into high gear. <em>Hat tip to Andrew</em>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-genesis-2-0t-teardown/low/">Hyundai Genesis 2.0T Teardown</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-genesis-2-0t-teardown/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/beyond-redline-disassembles-20t-motor-with-pic-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-genesis-2-0t-teardown/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/beyond-redline-disassembles-20t-motor-with-pic-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-genesis-2-0t-teardown/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/beyond-redline-disassembles-20t-motor-with-pic-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-genesis-2-0t-teardown/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/beyond-redline-disassembles-20t-motor-with-pic-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hyundai-genesis-2-0t-teardown/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/beyond-redline-disassembles-20t-motor-with-pic-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.genesisdriven.com/2009/03/05/beyond-redline-disassembles-20t-motor-with-pictures/">Genesis Driven</a>]<br /><em></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/09/beyond-redline-dissects-hyundai-genesis-coupes-new-2-0t-motor/">Beyond Redline dissects Hyundai Genesis Coupe's new 2.0T motor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 09 Mar 2009 16:55:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2010 Audi A4 Allroad</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Audi has rolled out its new 2010 Audi A4 Allroad here at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a>, and while the turbocharged stiltswagon wasn't originally expected to reach U.S. dealerships, <a href="http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090304/ANA02/903039899/1164">word coming out of the show</a> from <span style="font-style: italic;">Automotive News</span> is that this is under discussion. As you may recall, Audi's very first Allroad, the A6-based softroader, was sold from 2000 to 2005 in the U.S, but the second-generation range (currently on sale in Europe) never made it to America because of the initial model's slow sales. <br /><br />The flared-fender A4 Allroad goes on sale in Europe as you read this (base price: 37,100 Euros - about $46,700 USD), carrying under its hood a 211-horsepower, 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder or one of two TDI diesels - either a 2.0-liter (170 hp) or a 3.0-liter (240 hp). Presumably, if America gets the A4 Allroad at all, it will receive the gas engine variant only where it would match up as a premium-price alternative to the Subaru Outback and forthcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-2010-saab-9-3x-ideal-wagon-for-lingonberry-picking/">Saab 9-3X</a>. Of course, Audi may decide to once again import the A6-based Allroad instead - or pass on both altogether, so stay tuned. <br />Most stock components in a production car can only be pushed so far. Keep adding horsepower and torque, and eventually...well, something is going to break. Some people, however, are all about exploring the limits. Take Tym Switzer, for example. His tuning company, Switzer Performance Innovation of Oberlin, Ohio has come up with a bolt-on tuning package for the Porsche 997 911 Turbo that offers<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/28/first-drive-bugatti-veyron/"> Bugatti Veyron</a> aping performance. So, how much power can the stock internals in Stuttgart's 3.8-liter flat-6 take? Apparently, quite a lot. <br /><br />The shop has recorded 850 horsepower and 727 lb-ft of torque on the rolling dyno, equating to over 1000 horsepower at the crank. Real world performance should be mind boggling, with the car reportedly reaching 60 miles-per-hour in the mid two second range, blowing through the 1/4 mile in just 9.79 seconds at 146 mph. Pricing looks to be just as fierce, with the Sledgehammer package retailing for $<span style="font-style: italic;">49,990</span>. While that's a lot of coin for a suite of bolt-ons, the performance would appear to speak for itself. <span style="font-style: italic;">Videos of both the dyno run and the 1/4 mile pass can be viewed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/09/tuner-creates-1000-horsepower-porsche-911-with-bolt-ons/">after the jump</a> as well as SPI's official press release. </span><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spi-sledgehammer/low/">SPI SLEDGEHAMMER</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spi-sledgehammer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sledgehammer_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spi-sledgehammer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sledgehammer_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spi-sledgehammer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sledgehammer_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spi-sledgehammer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sledgehammer_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spi-sledgehammer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/sledgehammer_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.switzerperformanceinnovation.com/">Switzer Performance Innovation</a>]<br /><a target="_blank" href="http://swizterperformanceinnovation.com/"></a><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/09/tuner-creates-1000-horsepower-porsche-911-with-bolt-ons/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Tuner creates 1000-horsepower Porsche 911... with bolt-ons.</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/09/tuner-creates-1000-horsepower-porsche-911-with-bolt-ons/">Tuner creates 1000-horsepower Porsche 911... with bolt-ons.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 09 Jan 2009 20:32:00 EST. <br /> As the current Saab 9-5 heads into the waning days of its life-cycle, General Motors' Swedish brand will be launching a new limited edition model at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>. <br /><br />This time around, the 9-5 Griffin is set to do duty as the most luxurious Saab yet. While one might expect the most premium edition of the 9-5 to use a six cylinder engine like the 2.8-liter turbo from the Turbo-X, it actually uses a 260-horsepower version of the corporate 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbo. The Griffin receives matte chrome trim in the front, unique five-spoke 17-inch alloys, a rear spoiler and special badging. <br /><br />The interior receives minimal changes, including gloss trim, piping on the carpets, and accent-colored stitching on the steering wheel, hand brake pull, and standard leather seats. <br /><br />The Griffin will be available with either two- or three-pedal transmission configurations and four door sedan or wagon ("SportCombi") body styles. <br /><br />The big question remains is that at $42,775 for the sedan and $44,045 for the Sportcombi, will anyone outside of Saab's most faithful really care? GM has already acknowledged that the Swedish brand is under review and the possibility of sale or shutdown looms large. <br /><br />Click <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/detroit-preview-2010-saab-9-5-griffin-edition/">on the jump</a> for Saab's official press release.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-saab-9-5-griffin/low/">2010 Saab 9-5 Griffin</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-saab-9-5-griffin/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/x09sb_n5007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Saab]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/detroit-preview-2010-saab-9-5-griffin-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit Preview: 2010 Saab 9-5 Griffin Edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/detroit-preview-2010-saab-9-5-griffin-edition/">Detroit Preview: 2010 Saab 9-5 Griffin Edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 23 Dec 2008 09:29:00 EST. </small> <br />We just told you about <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/17/spy-shots-2010-nissan-patrol/">Nissan's next-gen Patrol</a> SUV and the fact that it might be coming to North America. While rumors have the engine options including a first-ever V8 for the model, the big news is the diesel engine co-developed with Renault that's slated to put out 405 ft-lbs. of torque. While that sounds enticing, apparently that won't be good enough for a certain impatient Dubai businessman. He went to tuner HKS and had them turn up the wick a bit on a current-generation Patrol while he's waiting for the new one.<br /><br />The result is more than 1,000 PS, or roughly 1,000 HP. And the best part is that the exterior remains mostly stock looking, though the giant hood scoop is admittedly a tipoff. We'd suggest tracking down some Pirelli Scorpions at least, though they're not likely to be as useful for track duty. Sure, a Bugatti Veyron might be more stylish and yes, it has about the same horsepower. Heck, it even has all-wheel drive, but it doesn't have nearly the ground clearance or the cargo room as this Patrol, so the decision was obvious. Apparently, this stealth bomber SUV was just featured in an issue of <span style="font-style: italic;">Option Magazine</span> in Japan. If anyone has more details, please share. Until then, check out the gallery and the video <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/video-stealth-1-000-hp-nissan-patrol/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hks-nissan-patrol/low/">HKS Nissan Patrol</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hks-nissan-patrol/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/hkspetrol02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hks-nissan-patrol/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/hkspetrol03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hks-nissan-patrol/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/hkspetrol04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hks-nissan-patrol/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/hkspetrol05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hks-nissan-patrol/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/hkspetrol01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http:// http://www.bespokeventures.com/blog/2008/12/05/hks-1000hp-nissan-patrolsafari-pics-and-video-delivered/">The Real JDM</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/video-stealth-1-000-hp-nissan-patrol/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Stealth 1,000 HP Nissan Patrol</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/video-stealth-1-000-hp-nissan-patrol/">VIDEO: Stealth 1,000 HP Nissan Patrol</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 18 Dec 2008 14:56:00 EST. The Dutch pub released the image and details on the sedan after <em>Auto Motor und Sport</em> supposedly broke the Monday embargo. More details will be released late Sunday night, but in the meantime, let's look at the reported specs.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/PorschePanameraGranTurismo/">Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo</a> is 16.3 feet long, 6.3 feet wide and 4.66 feet tall, with a wheelbase of 9.6 feet. Weight hasn't been disclosed, but its roughly two tons. The most striking detail on the profile shot is the indentations leading from the front fenders, aft of the wheels, into the doors, but the jury is still out on the Panamera's bulbous back end. The slippery shape and low profile gives the sedan a drag coefficient of 0.29, while an electronically actuated rear spoiler will keep things planted at speed.<br /><br />An electronic air suspension is part of the package, along with an LSD, and power can be sent to either the rear wheels, or all four, depending on the trim level. Motivation will be provided by a range of engines, beginning with 3.6-liter V6 putting out 300 hp, and continuing upwards with the 400 hp, 4.8-liter V8 Panamera S and the Panamera Turbo, packing a twin-turbocharged version of the same bent eight putting out an estimated 500 hp. Power will be sent to Porsche's new PDK dual-clutch gearbox and although a diesel model has been ruled out, a V6-hybrid variant with 350 hp will come along at a later date.<br /><br />Porsche aims to sell approximately 20,000 units of the Panamera each year, with the automaker estimating that 20% will be the range-topping Turbo model. The Panamera will only be available in S and Turbo guises at launch, with the V6 model following shortly thereafter. Once established, Porsche hopes demand will increase to 50,000 units annually, with sales beginning in the U.S., Europe and Asia next year. <em>Thanks for the tip, Jelle!</em><br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/22/more-porsche-panamera-pics-surface/">More photos</a> have surfaced.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-gran-turismo/low/">Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-gran-turismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/3330649c_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-gran-turismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/1568747d_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-gran-turismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/1568747c_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-gran-turismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/1568747b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-panamera-gran-turismo/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/3330649d_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.telegraaf.nl%2Fautotelegraaf%2F2593912%2F__Alle_details_Porsche_Panamera__.html%3Fp%3D21%2C1&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;sl=nl&amp;tl=en">AutoTelegraaf</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/21/porsche-panamera-image-and-details-leak-out/">Porsche Panamera image and details leak out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 21 Nov 2008 19:50:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the STS C6 Z06</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The <a href="http://www.ststurbo.com/home">Squires Turbo Systems</a> twin-turbo C6 Z06 gives the former most-powerful Vette model a boost to 700 horsepower at a very reasonable 7 pounds of boost, which, depending on how sorted the Bilstein-shocked suspension is, could give it a good shot at sticking with a stock ZR-1. The most unique thing about this car is that STS mounts the turbos remotely, at the rear of the car. That placement keeps the engine bay freer and adds a host of technical perks like lower temps under the hood and cooler oil going to the turbo. And according to STS, some customers have even gotten better gas mileage. Strangely, though, for all of that new performance, the brakes look untouched. According to <em>CAR</em>'s sources, the V8 has been fitted with twin turbochargers and output is estimated at somewhere north of 600 hp. The rationale behind using the Volvo's lightweight eight is primarily centered on emissions, allowing the low-volume automaker to sell the M600 throughout the world.<br /><br />According to our source, the Noble hit a top speed of 202 mph at Bonneville before traversing Death Valley and winding up the Firebird Raceway in Arizona, where <em>CAR</em>'s shooters captured the N400 in photos and video.
