30John McGuinness makes record-breaking poetry aboard Mugen Shinden San

John McGuinness is a poet like no other. Invoking passion like Neruda using only the twisty, timeworn vocabulary of the Snaefell Mountain Course, the Morecambe Missile can best be heard crafting his boisterous verse during the annual TT races when standing alongside the 37.7-mile asphalt ribbon that weaves its way through the towns and villages of the Isle of Man.

18John McGuinness destroys TT Zero record at 117.366 mph

Tuesday morning on the Isle of Man, John McGuinness didn't merely raise the bar by circling the 37.7-mile Snaefell Mountain Course in 19:17.3 minutes at an average of 117.366 miles per hour during the running of the annual TT Zero. Despite an ailing wrist, he snatched the bar from its moorings and threw it javelin-like into the chilly Irish Sea, adding an additional 7.691 mph to last year's record speed and becoming the first to complete an electric race lap in under 20 minutes. His Mugen team m

10Mugen debuts new Shinden electric motorcycle for TT Zero race

Now includes tech from Mission Motors

To say that John McGuinness will win this year's TT Zero on the Isle of Man, riding the Shinden San for Team Mugen, and that his closest competitor will likely be his new teammate Bruce Anstey, would not be the boldest of predictions. MotoCsysz, the team that's dominated the previous four contests, is sitting out this year and McPint, as he sometimes called because his name bears a close resemblance to that of a certain brewer of fine, dark beer, is often the fastest man around the 37.799-mile S

13Michael Rutter wins third TT Zero, makes it four in a row for MotoCzysz *UPDATE

Michael Rutter has just won his third SES TT Zero, giving MotoCzysz it's fourth-in-a-row victory in the electric motorcycle race on the Isle of Man. But it was close. Damn close. One-point-six-seconds close. In the end, after months of engineering effort, the top spot on the podium – the only position that really matters to these guys – came down to which team was willing to take the most risk.

52013 TT Zero proving to be a MotoCzysz vs Mugen showdown [w/video]

Right now, ten teams are encamped on the Isle of Man during this TT motorcycle racing season with the goal of proving the worth of the electric racing motorcycles they've brought with them. With all three qualifying sessions now complete, markers have now been laid down and the shape of the 2013 edition of the TT Zero is becoming clear. Much like last year, the race on Wednesday looks like it's down to a shootout between Michael Rutter on the thoroughly updated 2013 MotoCzysz E1pc (pictured at r

7Charge electric motorcycle race documentary comes to theaters this week

For lovers of electric bike racing, director Mark Neale's documentary about the first-ever electric motorcycle competition that started on the Isle of Man TT course June 12, 2009, Charge, is now in theaters. The updated film chronicles racing teams preparing for the 2009 race, and their return in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

192012 TT ZERO action, start to finish

Fans of electric motorsport generally have a hard time finding decent event coverage. Typically, it's not offered on TV, and video gleaned from the internet usually comes from either fans or individual teams and often lacks the professional production values we are accustomed to. Now, however, and possibly for a limited time only, footage from Britain's ITV 4 featuring the 2012 TT Zero is available to watch online.

18Rutter breaks electric ton for MotoCzysz at 2012 TT Zero

The electric ton, she is broken. The magical 100 mile per hour lap speed was shattered during the SES TT Zero when Michael Rutter officially completed a circuit of the Isle of Man's 37.73-mile Snaefell mountain course at an average 104.056 mph aboard the 2012 edition of the Team Segway MotoCzysz E1pc. Besides securing a place in history, Rutter and MotoCzysz also collected a check for £10,000 ($15,490 U.S. at today's rates).

25MotoCzysz reveals 2012 E1pc with Kardashian-inspired butt

We are astonished. No, not because Team Segway MotoCzysz has just revealed its 2012 version of the E1pc and it looks pretty amazing. We expected that. Rather, we are somewhat stunned that the cultural impact of certain aspects of Kim and Khloe Kardashian's um, prominent physical attributes has just expanded into the geeky green world of electric motorcycle racing. More on that in a moment.

12History will be made at the 2012 TT Zero. A preview.

Rising out of the chilly waters of the Irish sea, the Isle of Man is paradise for those who consider the world's most dangerous motorcycle racing circuit to be nirvana. Once again, it is also the setting for the TT Zero: a one-lap race around the 37.7 Snaefell mountain course for all-electrics that pushes the edge of what's possible with battery-powered bikes.

AddMugen unveils electric superbike to contest 2012 TT Zero, announces John McGuinness as rider [w/video]

The 2012 edition of the TT Zero just got a whole lot more interesting. Mugen, the Japanese performance firm who, rather significantly, lists some of its main clients as Honda Motor Co., Honda R&D Co., and Honda Motorcycle Japan Co., announced they would enter the SES TT Zero Clean Emissions Motorcycle Challenge on the Isle of Man a couple weeks ago. Now, Team Mugen has revealed both its electric superbike and rider.

If you click on the link to it below, kiss the better part of twenty-three minutes goodbye.

AddElkhart Lake completes American TTXGP as IOM brouhaha burbles in background

While the TTXGP may not be staging a race on the Isle of Man this summer, they do have 13 other events planned and have just announced that the last venue necessary to complete the North American race calender will be the Road America track at Elkhart Lake. The storied four-mile Wisconsin circuit will see electric motorcycle action during the Suzuki Superbike Doubleheader weekend from June 3rd to 6th. The other contests on this side of the pond are at Infineon Raceway May 14-16, Mosport Internat

AddIsle of Man puts the boots to TTXGP, creates the TT Zero

In a press release that acknowledges the success of last year's inaugural TTXGP held on the Isle of Man and thanks that organization for their hard work, the self-governing British Crown dependency's Department of Tourism and Leisure (DTL) has announced that they are taking over the event and have re-named it the TT Zero. Now ain't that a fine how do you do? Luckily, TTXGP officials had plenty of notice so as to make alternate arrangements. To add insult to injury, TTXGP officials only learned o
