39Trident Iceni stakes claim to world's fastest diesel sports car, will come to US

It was back in 2006 when we first came across Trident and its plans to create a diesel-powered sports car. The prototype was up and running a couple of years later, and it debuted at the Salon Privé in London a few years after that. It's now been the better part of two years since its debut – and eight years since the project first surfaced – but Trident Sports Cars says it's finally ready to launch the vehicle it called Iceni.

17Britain's Trident Iceni Grand Tourer headed to Salon Privé... on diesel power

After looking at the new Trident Iceni Grand Tourer, it's obvious that Europe gets all the cool cars. Sexy styling? Check. Amazing performance? Yup. Torquey, fuel-efficient diesel engine? Unequivocally, yes! This built-to-order coupe apparently has it all for the performance enthusiast who wants it all, and the car will be on display at the Salon Privé 2012 next month in London.

We have a hard time imagining anyone would find the Smart ForTwo uncomfortably large or the Scion iQ too big for their needs, but a group of businessmen in the UK believe there's a market for even smaller transportation. The group has resurrected the Peel brand, and the manufacturer is now accepting orders for both the P50 and the Trident. Both models will launch with a 49 cc two-stroke gasoline engine making just 3.35 horsepower, but buyers will also be able to choose one of two electric motors

21Guadalajara taxi service ups its game with Ferrari and Porsche

Trident gave a few unsuspecting taxi passengers the ride of their lives in Guadalajara. In a promotion for the company's new Twist gum, Trident swapped out one taxi company's standard Nissan Sentra/Tsuru cabs with a Ferrari F430 Spider and a Porsche Panamera. Both vehicles were suitably decked out in yellow with a field of checkers. The cabs even came equipped with all the right lights to be legal, though seeing a cabbie wearing a full-on race helmet would give us a moment's pause before hopping

4After many delays, $150,000 biodiesel-powered Trident Iceni ready to launch

Back in 2007, Trident Performance Vehicles unveiled its Iceni, a biodiesel-burning two-seat sports car with a monstrous 6.6-liter V8 engine under its bonnet. Back then, Trident aimed to launch the Iceni at a price of £60,000 ($96,918 U.S. at the current exchange rate). Needless to say, that launch was delayed.

5REPORT: GP2 mechanic placed into coma after pitlane incident at Spa
