<br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/30/video-lamborghini-reventon/">Lamborghini Reventon</a> is a very rare bird, indeed. There are only <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/11/lamborghini-reventon-01-20-arrives-at-vegas-dealership/">20 copies</a> in existence, and the asking price for the king of Lambos is a cool $1.4 million. For that kind of coin, owners have every right to expect world-class speed, but few will ever test the raging bull's ridiculous limits. <br /><br />Admittedly, we now know for sure that one Reventon owner in Saudi Arabia has explored his Lamborghini's top end, though,and we have the video to prove it. Hit the jump to watch the Lamborghini Reventon as it reaches a top speed of 222 mph. The video is lousy and the camera stays fixated on the digital speedometer, but it's worth a watch if only for the reality that is road travel at 356 kmh. <span style="font-style: italic;">Hat tip to Ben!</span><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-lamborghini-reventon/low/">2008 Lamborghini Reventon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-lamborghini-reventon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/reventon_2008_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-lamborghini-reventon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/reventon_2008_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-lamborghini-reventon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/reventon_2008_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-lamborghini-reventon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/reventon_2008_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-lamborghini-reventon/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/reventon_2008_06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_HQryeMx-c">YouTube</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/16/video-saudi-hits-lamborghini-reventon-vmax-of-222-mph/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Saudi hits Lamborghini Reventon vMax of 222 MPH</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/16/video-saudi-hits-lamborghini-reventon-vmax-of-222-mph/">VIDEO: Saudi hits Lamborghini Reventon vMax of 222 MPH</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 16 Apr 2009 14:56:00 EST. <br />The Italian countryside passes by in a blur. At an indicated 265 km/h (164 mph), we have hit the invisible wall. The accelerator pedal has been jammed into the carpet for the last ten seconds, yet the sleek Porsche cannot push the molecules of air away any faster. Thanks to a stiff headwind, simple aerodynamic drag has overcome the 310 horsepower engine and arrested our acceleration a bit shy of Porsche's quoted maximum speed. Regardless of the blustery gusts, the direct-injected flat-six buried in the middle of the chassis continues to wail as it sustains the fight. An approaching curve on the horizon convinces us to reluctantly lift off the gas. <br /> <br /> We're in Sicily testing the new second-generation 2009 Porsche Boxster S. Significantly updated for the new model year, the drop-top coupe continues to impress us. How has Porsche improved its 12-year-old platform? Are the new powerplants significantly different from their predecessors? How does the Boxster compare to the Cayman? <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/30/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-with-pdk/">Follow the jump</a> to find out and take a tour of Italy with the Porsche Boxster in our high-res gallery of images below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-pdk/low/">First Drive: 2009 Porsche Boxster S PDK</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-pdk/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/boxsters_1280_43_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-pdk/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/boxsters_1280_40_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-pdk/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/boxsters_1280_41_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-pdk/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/boxsters_1280_38_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-porsche-boxster-s-pdk/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/boxsters_1280_42_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong><em><small>All photos Copyright </small></em></strong><small><strong><em>(C) 2009 </em></strong><strong><em>Michael C. <br />In its spare time while reinventing the company and settling in with a new owner, Jaguar's boffins somehow found time to take their new XFR to the Bonneville Salt Flats for a top speed run last November.<br /><br />The Paul Gentilozzi-driven XFR had been modified with the appropriate safety gear (roll cage, fire suppression system, etc.), along with a sizable low-mounted rear spoiler and a derestricted ECU that allowed the supercharger to yield around 600 horsepower thanks to a bit more boost. So-equipped, the 503-horsepower sedan blew through the double-ton to top out at 225.675 miles-per-hour, solidly trouncing the previous Jaguar land speed record of 217.1 mph set by an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/18/ebay-find-of-the-day-jaguar-xj220-in-lemans-blue/">XJ220</a> at Nardo back in 1992 with Martin Brundle at the wheel. For reference, the standard XFR is electronically limited to 155 mph.<br /><span name="intelliTxt" id="intelliTXT"><br />Incredibly, the Bonneville run was completed on stock Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, and the Rocketsports-prepared XFR was still registering a bit of wheelspin at that speed.<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span></span><span style="font-style: italic;">Check out the high-res, high-speed gallery below and the press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/12/faster-pussycat-jaguar-xfr-pounces-on-bonneville-hits-225-mph/">after the jump</a>.</span><br /><br /><em><strong>UPDATE:</strong> Video of the XFR in Bonneville added after the jump.</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/">Jaguar XFR Bonneville Salt Flats Racer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/bonneville-jaguar-xfr-stock_0001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/bonneville-jaguar-xfr-stock_0002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/bonneville-jaguar-xfr-stock_0003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/bonneville-jaguar-xfr-stock_0004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/bonneville-jaguar-xfr-stock_0005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/">Detroit 2009: Jaguar XFR Bonneville Salt Flats Racer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/xfrbonnevillelive_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/xfrbonnevillelive_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/xfrbonnevillelive_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/xfrbonnevillelive_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2009-jaguar-xfr-bonneville-salt-flats-racer/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/xfrbonnevillelive_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><small><em><strong>Live photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.<br /><br /></strong></em></small>[Source: Jaguar]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/12/detroit-2009-faster-pussycat-jaguar-xfr-pounces-on-bonneville/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit 2009: Faster Pussycat - Jaguar XFR pounces on Bonneville, hits 225 mph!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/12/detroit-2009-faster-pussycat-jaguar-xfr-pounces-on-bonneville/">Detroit 2009: Faster Pussycat - Jaguar XFR pounces on Bonneville, hits 225 mph!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 13:58:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><small>Click above to see "Canberra Joyride" parts one and two</small></span><br /></div>
<br />Remember the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/27/idiot-drives-lamborghini-murcielago-lp640-219-mph-on-public-road/">guy who took his Lamborghini up to 219</a> mph on an Arizona highway? A Canberra, Australia man has done the same thing with his Kawasaki ZX-750, filming himself blasting up to 200 km/h (124 mph), sometimes in 60 km/h (37 mph) zone, and called it "Canberra Joyride," part of which is set to, of all things, P.O.D. Then he uploaded the video to YouTube and probably waited for the viewers to gush all over themselves.<br /><br />It turns out that some of the viewers were the Canberra police. And they didn't gush; they performed their own top-speed hunt-and-capture mission and charged the man with doing 200 in a 60. We've all broken a law or two, but guys, a word of advice: filming high-speed runs is like filming your conjugal activities... <em>not to be done</em>. If you must, keep it on lockdown like D-Block at Folsom. Otherwise... well, you should know by now what happens. Follow the jump to check out the action for yourself. At the end of one video a caption reads "More videos coming soon." Those will probably be from the yard...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://paultan.org/archives/2009/01/01/man-to-be-charged-for-speeding-200kmh-in-a-60kmh-zone-thanks-to-youtube-evidence/">Paul Tan</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/02/dumb-top-speed-runs-on-public-roads-dumber-uploading-them-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dumb: Top speed runs on public roads. <p><br />We're suckers for speed, so we jumped at the opportunity to attend a press conference for an upcoming top speed shootout on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Unlike the countless speed contests held at locations around the world each year, the Top 1 Oil World Land Speed Shootout is the first single competition originated to decide the fastest wheel-driven cars and motorcycles on the planet. With few rules to limit innovation, some amazingly fast machines will take to the salt at the inaugural event this September 22-26. </p>
<p>At the press conference held at World Class Motoring in Los Angeles, we were lucky enough to check out the <a href="http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/ack-attack/ack-index.html">Ack Attack</a> motorcycle and <a href="http://www.cameltoe.net/">Speed Demon</a> car -- two of the fastest wheel-driven vehicles in the world (with top speeds approaching 400 mph). The sleek machines (aka "Streamliners") are much more sophisticated and technically innovative than their outward appearance would lead you to believe. Under their thin aluminum/composite skins are countless subsystems of hydraulics, electronics, powertrains, and safety equipment... all designed to fit within the tubular aerodynamic confines of each streamliner. Nestled deep within the belly of these awesome machines are the driver/riders who <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/08/motorcyclist-dies-attempting-land-speed-record-on-salt-flats/">risk everything</a> to set the next FIA/FIM-sanctioned record. While the missile-like fuselages were fascinating to look at, hanging out with the teams -- genuine, truly passionate about speed, and brilliant enough to design record holders -- was what left a lasting impression with us. Best of luck guys!</p>

<br /> We recently brought you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/autoblog-first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/">video</a> of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/corvettezr1">Corvette ZR1</a> being manhandled around General Motors' Milford Proving Grounds by our own Sam Abuelsamid. House rules that day made the car a 4-on-the-floor, since invitees weren't allowed to explore any gear beyond fourth. Car junkies over in Europe, however, recently got a chance to ride in the first pre-production ZR1 on The Continent while it was shaken down and then flogged on the Autobahn before heading to Nardo. If you believe the speedometer, the yellow scorcher runs to 315 kph (195.73 mph) before it ran out of clear highway, not out of speed. Looks like we'll have to change the phrase from "blue" to "Fast as <em>yellow</em> blazes..." <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/11/video-corvette-zr1-doing-195-mph-on-the-autobahn/">Follow the jump</a> to check out the full video. <em>Thanks for the tip, Thomas!</em><br /> <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/">First Drive: 2009 Corvette ZR1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-corvette-zr1-1280-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/zr1-1st-drive-1280-46_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-corvette-zr1-1280-28_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/zr1-1st-drive-1280-20_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/zr1-1st-drive-1280-21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.abhd.nl/video/corvette-zr1-autobahn-shakedown/">Autoblog Netherlands</a> (no relation)]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/11/video-corvette-zr1-doing-195-mph-on-the-autobahn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VIDEO: Corvette ZR1 doing 195 mph on the Autobahn</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/11/video-corvette-zr1-doing-195-mph-on-the-autobahn/">VIDEO: Corvette ZR1 doing 195 mph on the Autobahn</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 11 Sep 2008 12:59:00 EST. While his stunts may not be lawful or even sane, he continues to find new territory in which to get his thrills. After being arrested in England and New Zealand, he has finally taken his action off the streets and onto the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/15/top-secrets-v12-supra-heading-to-nardo-for-top-speed-run/">Nardo Ring test track in Italy</a>. Reportedly, the twin turbo V12 Top Secret Supra, driven by Smokey, achieved a top speed of 222 mph (358 km/h) at Nardo. While certainly a mind-numbing velocity, it falls just a tad short of the 248 mph (400 km/h) goal.<br /><br />The Top Secret Supra project is intended to present the Supra as the kind of supercar some feel Toyota <em>should </em>be selling. Its V12 powerplant is sourced from a Toyota Century (a Japanese market luxury sedan), and extra power beyond its stock 276 horses, many airflow aids have been added. These range from custom plenums and piping to dual HKS GT2540 turbochargers. All in all, the engine's output has been tuned somewhere north of 1,000 hp. According to our friends over at the GTChannel, the GT-R's integrated computer limits the vehicle's speed in Japan to 111 mph (180 km/h), but once the GPS system detects that you've arrived at a domestic circuit, it removes the top speed limiter for all-out track assaults.<br /><br />In the U.S., they've bumped up the electronically-limited top speed to 156 mph (250 km/h), but there's no integration with the GPS here in the States, meaning that anyone that wants to go faster on track has to have the ECU modifed. Nissan has made several overtures that the GT-R's ECU will be a tough nut to crack, but we're sure that enterprising tuners both here and abroad will be able to coax a few extra ponies out of the twin-turbo'd 3.8-liter mill and remove any electronic nannies that go with it.<br /><br />[Source: GTChannel]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/22/nissan-gt-r-recognizes-tracks-via-gps-removes-speed-limiter/">Nissan GT-R recognizes tracks via GPS, removes speed limiter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 22 Dec 2007 12:31:00 EST. <p>Going fast can't be rushed. It sounds downright oxymoronic, but it might as well be the golden rule when it comes to breaking top speed records.</p>
<p>9ff is one of those outfits that bridges the gap between aftermarket tuning house and specialty manufacturer. Their latest project, dubbed GT9, has been a long time coming, and we've been <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/9ff-gt9-could-unseat-veyron-with-254-mph-top-speed/">eagerly awaiting</a> the very special car's attempt at unseating the likes of the SSC Aero, Koenigsegg CCX and Bugatti Veyron from their respective places at the top of the speed-trial time sheets. 9ff has yet to take the GT9 to Nardo for its official run, but have in the meantime given us an appetizer to keep our mouths watering.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/18/more-on-the-9ff-gt9-and-its-veyron-beating-record-attempt/">As you may recall</a>, the GT9 starts with a Porsche 911 GT3, and goes to work on it like a Tarantino character with a razor blade and "Stuck in the Middle" playing on the radio. A new rear subframe is fitted from carbon-Kevlar, mounting the 987hp 4.2-liter twin-turbo flat-six in the middle instead of the rear, and stretching the custom body by 300 mm (about a foot) while chopping the sleek roofline by 120 mm. </p>
<p>The near-record-ready GT9 was on display at the Essen motor show when it was apparently revealed that the asking price has jumped from an anticipated &euro;400k to nearly &euro;600k. But with the Porsche Carrera GT long since out of production, 9ff shouldn't have any trouble selling the limited run of 20...so long as it meets its ambitious performance goals.</p>

(The Bugatti Veyron has reportedly gone 253 mph in an unofficial run.) <br /><br />Winding Road recently spoke with Junus Khan, SSC's marketing director, who claims that the Ultimate Aero TT hit 241.4 mph during a transmission temperature test on May 22. At the time, the driver was reportedly using only 71 percent of the car's available throttle, which implies it's got plenty of reserve to break the official record of 242 mph. With 1,183 bhp on tap behind the driver's head, we're sure the SSC Ultimate Aero TT will shatter the record soon once the company organizes another official attempt. Khan says they'll be going for it in the "very near future."<br /><br />[Source: Winding Road]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt/low/">SSC Ultimate Aero TT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/ultimate-aero-nv-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/ultimate-aero-nv-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/ultimate-aero-sponsors-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/ultimate-aero-nv-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/blueblackwhite_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/30/ssc-ultimate-aero-tt-closes-in-on-record-with-241-mph-run/">SSC Ultimate Aero TT closes in on record with 241 mph run</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 May 2007 15:27:00 EST. That was what we were told at SEMA where the twin-turbo '87 Chevy Silverado, nicknamed Greasel, was unveiled. The truck made its record run at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in California over the weekend and the results were less than impressive. On its first attempt, Greasel and its driver reached a face-melting speed of 82 mph (Please, sense the sarcasm). On subsequent runs the press release reveals it reached a top speed of "Almost 100 miles per hour!" Whoa there, PR people. I personally know at least three people who have WVO Jettas that can break triple digits on surfaces other than compacted salt. But it seems that since the Sourthern California Timing Association was on hand to officially record the runs, the Greasel goes down as the fastest grease-powered vehicle on earth. Clearly something went wrong, as were told the initial runs would be at least be above 160 mph, with subsequent tinkering hopefully pushing the Greasel past 200 mph, even potentially reaching 240 mph. The only press release we could find, however, seems written by a uneducated PR lacky who isn't aware that 3,000 horsepower and a top speed of "Almost 100 miles per hour!" don't belong in the same sentence together. <br /><br />[Source: Marketwire]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/13/video-3-000-hp-greasel-falls-flat-on-record-run/">VIDEO: 3,000 HP Greasel falls flat on record run</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 13 Nov 2006 13:27:00 EST. It seem Bugatti just never got around to scheduling an official high-speed run that could be officially considered by Guinness. In late October, Bugatti plans to rectify that and make an official top speed run at the <a href="http://perljam.net/google-satellite-maps/id/8823/Germany//Wolfsburg/Ehra_Lessien_Test_Track">Ehra Lessien test track</a> near VW's headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany. The track has an unbroken straight of 9 km (5.6 miles), which should offer ample room to reach the Veyron's "unofficial" top speed of at least 253 mph. Currently the Veyron only holds the record for the <a href="http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=43463">Most Powerful Production Car</a>. <br /><br />If the official fastest production vehicle isn't the Veyron, then what is? The answer is the Koenigsegg CCR, the 806-hp super Swede that has been officially clocked at 245 mph. The Veyron may not be king of the hill for long, however, as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/29/track-day-number-1-with-koenigsegg-ccx/">CCX</a> that Autoblogger Frank Filipponio got to pilot can theoretically reach 258 mph. <br /><br />[Source: Motor Authority]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/12/making-it-official-bugatti-veyron-going-for-fastest-production/">Making it official: Bugatti Veyron going for fastest production car</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 12 Sep 2006 18:44:00 EST. The fact that the Veyron's terminal velocity is already being contested is
proof positive that the supercar segment is once again healthy enough to support some friendly competition.<br /><br
/>Perhaps the only production car in the world that won't resign its life to the rearview mirror of the Veyron will be
this car, the Koenigsegg CCX that debuts in Geneva next week. <br /><br /><a
href="http://davidnaylor.org/blog/2006/02/koenigsegg-ccx-gets-900-bhp.html">David Naylor</a> received some <a
href="http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=114332">inside info</a> on the CCX that reveals Koenigsegg is aiming for
900bhp and a top speed greater than 400 kmh, or 248.5 mph.
