Give a Lexus LFA to an auto journalist and there's going to be an attempt to drift it. Give that same LFA to the gents at Blendtec and they're likely to see if it, or at least a piece of it, will blend. Then turn that LFA over to Tony Hawk to use for his birthday and he will, naturally, line the thing up outside of his office and see if he can ollie it.

Sure, he had the help of a generous ramp, but we can't blame him. The LFA is $375,000 of sensitive parts that wouldn't react well, nor inexpensively, to flying skateboard trucks. Scroll down to see the 44-year-old Hawk do what he does best.
Continue reading Tony Hawk jumps Lexus LFA on skateboard

Tony Hawk jumps Lexus LFA on skateboard originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 16 May 2012 16:59:00 EST.
Lance Krall, Tony Hawk and Lee Majors. Three names with seemingly no connection, except for the fact that these men are working on a pilot related to the lives of folks in the stunt industry. We would've said the lives of stunt men, but there are clearly (very clearly) women in this industry as well.

The pilot is called Crash & Burn... and it's hilarious. The producers for the pilot are skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and actor Lance Krall, who you probably recognize as the Karate instructor from an episode of the Office where Michael and Dwight take each other on. Maybe. Either way, Krall portrays a stunt "actor" looking to get into the industry, and he appears to be learning the ropes from far more seasoned vets.
Tony Hawk will be in attendance at the Telstra 500 V8 Supercar race in Sydney next weekend, where he'll demonstrate his undiminished skills on the Monster Vert Ramp. As part of his welcome to the Antipodes, the locals have built him a 'skateboard' powered by a 630-horsepower V8 Supercar engine. Unlike the race cars, with their fancy roll cages and steering wheels, Tony just gets a throttle and a panic button. We'd love to see him run the ramp with it, but we'll settle for him going just a little faster than the guy in the video after the jump. Hat tip to Allan

2010 Long Beach Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race - Click above for high-res image gallery

The annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach just wouldn't be the same without the rough-and-tumble slugfest known as the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. Even though the actors, singers, pro athletes and television personalities who compete could probably care less, they have actually been driving safety-modded Scion tC street cars (StopTech brakes, window netting and roll cages) instead of Toyotas ever since the Celica went the way of analog television. No matter, Toyota is still the title sponsor of the whole shebang, even though there are no Toyotas in any of the racing classes tearing up the nearly two-mile street course in downtown Long Beach. Renaming it the "Scion Grand Prix..." just doesn't have the same ring to it anyhow.
According to Wikipedia, he's starred in commercials for Apple Computer, Burger King, Bagel Bites, Got Milk?, GoSnacks, The Colorado Tourism Board, and Domino's Pizza. If we knew how to edit a Wikipedia entry, we'd add Jeep and Sirius Satellite Radio to that list. Here the Birdman can be seen doing a rail slide with a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, no doubt made possible by the Unlimited's extra-long wheelbase. It's pretty funny and has that oh-so-popular viral video feel, but if we see Tony Hawk on either YouTube or the boob tube one more time pimping somebody else's products, well let's just say we can't be held accountable for our actions.

There's two more DaimlerChrysler commercials after the jump for the same Sirius Satellite Radio deal if you're interested.

[Source: YouTube]
Continue reading VIDEO: Product whore Tony Hawk shilling Jeeps and Sirius

VIDEO: Product whore Tony Hawk shilling Jeeps and Sirius originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 10 Nov 2006 19:49:00 EST.
