Get your Flux Capacitors right here!

Filed under: Gadgets, Time Warp, Etc., Toys

Okay, let's get this straight. Back to the Future movies: cool. Making your DeLorean into a replica of the movie car: incredibly lame. Halfway between would be a reproduction flux capacitor. If you did buy this thing, you could certainly attain full lameness by installing in in your non-DeLorean.

There were talented people working in the entertainment industry to dream up those iconic vehicles of the 1980s like KITT, the BTF DeLorean and the A-Team van. Those cars have staying power with a generation of enthusiasts, but dressing up your car to match a prop is akin to putting on your C-3PO finery to go see Episode III. If you must have it for your '96 Neon, climb the stairs from your basement lair and ask your mom for $220 for what equates to a couple of lights in a box. Hey, Christmas is coming, if you jump up and down and stomp like you did in '85, you'll find this thing under the tree.

Boston hotel offers million-dollar Valentine's Day package, Bentley included

Still looking for a way to impress that special someone with that million dollars burning a hole in your pocket? How about this, the "Prelude to a Kiss" Valentine's Day package at the Taj Hotel in Boston?

The whole shebang includes an overnight stay in the presidential suite, a romantic six-course dinner for two, plus a few extra perks including a diamond necklace with matching earrings for her, a set of gold cufflinks for him, and a Bentley Continental GT in black with red leather interior thrown in just for good measure. It also includes breakfast in the morning, rose petals on the bed, and ballroom dancing lessons.

The package will cost you $1,069,000, of which $193,000 pays for the Bentley and some $866,000 goes towards the bling. "Prelude to a Kiss" is right... if that doesn't do the trick, we don't know what will.

Want more information? Click here for a PDF on the full package.

Thanks for the tip, Stu!

Dutch Treat: Spyker to unveil production SUV and concept four-door at Geneva

Filed under: Concept Cars, Coupes, Sedans/Saloons, SUVs, Geneva Motor Show, Crossovers/CUVs

Those zaney Dutchmen over at Spyker have a couple of tricks up their sleeves for us at next month's Geneva show. The quirky exotic carmaker currently offers only one model, the Audi-powered C8 sportscar, but after acquiring their own F1 team with Ferrari-supplied engines, they're ready to triple their range by introducing two new model lines.

The first new Spyker model expected to be unveiled at Geneva is the production version of the – ahem – interesting D12 Peking-to-Paris exotic sport-utility vehicle (pictured), the finalized version of the concept car they showed in Geneva last year.

The bigger news is the four-door coupe Spyker is working on to compete with the upcoming Porsche Panamera and (if the new owners, whoever they may be, decide to build it) the Aston Martin Rapide. Reports are speculating that, with the sportscar called C and the sport-ute D, the four-door model would be labeled E (though we suspect Mercedes might have something to say about that). Rumor has it that famed Italian designer Zagato was commissioned for the design.
