AddReport: Toyota to mass produce electric vehicle for Chinese market by 2012

Toyota's devotion to hybrids is unmatched, but now the company is reportedly branching out to mass produce an electric vehicle (EV) by 2012. Before you gear up and get ready to buy this battery-powered vehicle, note that this EV will not be for U.S. consumption. The Nikkei newspaper reports that Toyota, through its joint venture with FAW Group Corporation, will test the waters by introducing a Chinese-built EV based on the subcompact Toyota Vios, but it will be marketed under a different brand.
