Here's what we know about the redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla: It will have "aggressive new styling" with "available seventeen-inch alloy wheels" an "available touch screen audio" system and "available LED headlights."

We know all of this because Toyota has seen fit to release a small assortment of teaser images of the 2014 Corolla, with those descriptions attached. The latest to hit the web shows LED lighting clusters, which, to Toyota's credit, don't appear to merely mimic designs already seen in the automotive world.

We should point out that the headlights do share a link to the units seen on the Furia Concept that was supposed to foreshadow the next Corolla, though the most interesting bits - namely the honeycomb inner pattern - have been chucked while the somewhat trapezoidal main units remain intact.

Check out all four 2014 Toyota Corolla teasers in our image gallery above, and stay tuned for the live reveal on Thursday.
2014 Toyota Corolla coming Thursday, now with LED headlamps originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 04 Jun 2013 09:32:00 EST.
If we were to paraphrase the opening lines of Kenneth Graeme's Wind in the Willows for our own purposes, we'd write, "Have you heard about Volvo? They never planned a new crossover at all. It was all a horrid low trick of theirs...." To be fair, though, we can't blame them for our own presumption. When the Swedish car company created a site called LeaveTheWorldBehind.com and teased a couple of videos for some kind of collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, we thought the crossover in one of the teasers pointed to a new vehicle on the way.

Turns out that's not the case. It really is 'just' a collaboration with the band on a music video for Swedish artist Lune's cover of their 2009 song, Leave the World Behind.

But there are Volvos in it, and you can watch it below and hear original song alongside. We've also included the press release with more details on why it all came together, and a behind-the-scenes video on the collabo. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "That's all we have to say about that."
Continue reading Scratch that new crossover, Volvo teases ad campaign for XC60

Scratch that new crossover, Volvo teases ad campaign for XC60 originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 26 May 2013 19:02:00 EST.
Aston Martin has released a short teaser video entitled Coming Soon that features the image above near its close. Based on the profile and the hood intakes, the short money is on this being the V12 Vantage S, since the standard model has yet to earn the addition of the 19th letter of the alphabet. It looks like there might also be a new roof treatment on the car in the video, but that could merely be a trick of the light.

It probably won't be long before we get another teaser or the genuine article revealed. For now, there's the video below provided for your sleuthing.
Continue reading Aston Martin teases something very fast

Aston Martin teases something very fast originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 24 May 2013 15:47:00 EST.
The image you see above is just about all we know of the new Volvo crossover that will be revealed at 8:30 pm Central European Time on May 17 (2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time). Volvo released three very short video teasers, all with the tagline "Leave The World Behind," all of which feature a member of the now-defunct band Swedish House Mafia - Axwell sits in a boat in the first, Sebastian Ingrosso walks toward cabin in the second and Steve Angello stares at the sea in a third.

A microsite, www.leavetheworldbehind.com, accompanies the teasers and it's been said that a short film by Lune will feature the band - Swedish Mafia had a hit in 2009 with the song Leave the World Behind. As for the vehicle, theories are that it could be something between the V40 Cross Country and XC60, the new XC90 or something else entirely. We don't have long to wait, and you can watch both teasers below.
Continue reading Volvo teases mysterious new small crossover

Volvo teases mysterious new small crossover originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 16 May 2013 10:45:00 EST.
When amateur spy shots first surfaced of a little blue hatchback roaring down the streets of Madrid, we thought it might be a Renault 5 revival - the sky blue city car did have a big "5" written on its doors, after all. Turns out, though, that it is the TwinFun, followup to the recently unveiled Twin'Z and the final offering in Renault's six-stage concept car cycle.

Last year, Renault introduced the Alpine A110-50 concept at the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix; for 2013 it will be the TwinFun taking the spotlight. A three-sentence press release below tells us that it fulfills the 'play' brief in the "life-cycle design strategy." We just want to find out what kind of engine it's got that makes all that glorious noise.
Continue reading Renault teases followup concept to Twin'Z

Renault teases followup concept to Twin'Z originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 28 Apr 2013 09:00:00 EST. Chevrolet has pulled the covers back ever so slightly on the 2014 Camaro SS, which is scheduled to debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show on Wednesday, March 27. As pointed out by GM in the brief press release below, this is the first meaningful update to the fifth-generation Camaro, minus all the more recent model variants, naturally.

We're not expecting a bevy of exterior modifications - regardless of what you think of its performance, the fact that it's been "the most popular sports car in America for three consecutive years" proves people like what they see - but we can spot a nip here and a tuck there (click on the image above to enlarge). For instance, there's chrome trim highlighting the fascia, and the grille has been restyled with a cleaner look. We're curious to see the rest of the car, especially what's just out of frame in this teaser, like the air intake seen on the current car.

We're also hoping for powertrain updates, including the addition of the LS7 engine, along with an improved interior. And finally, now would probably be a good time to remind you that we have seen some interesting views of what may be a refreshed Camaro already via the set of spy shots you see below. There aren't any guarantees that these spy shots are the finished product, or if it is something other than as SS - it definitely doesn't match the current car or the teaser above - but you're welcome to scroll on through regardless.
Continue reading 2014 Chevy Camaro SS teased

2014 Chevy Camaro SS teased originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 20 Mar 2013 14:57:00 EST.
With Mastretta and its home-cooked MXT-R already softening the beachhead for Mexican-made sports cars, a new company called VŪHL - an acronym that stands for "Vehicles of Ultra-lightweight and High-performance" - is coming to the scene.

The teaser image that you see above shows the VŪHL 05, which is tantalizingly described as a "road-legal lightweight supercar." The details are pretty scarce beyond that, save that we will witness the launch of the 05 at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

VŪHL itself was started by brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, who claim to have picked up their love of high performance cars from their GT and formula car-racing father, Guillermo Echeverria Sr. It is the Echeverria brothers' design firm, Etxe, that has penned the lines for the 05, while the production (of the bodies, at least) will take place in Canada and final assembly will happen in Mexico City. A report by Skiddmark.com indicates that big name suppliers like Magna Steyr, Mutimatic and Ford have a hand in the car, and some funding has come from the Mexican Government, as well. Consider our interest piqued.
Mexico set to get second automaker, and it's a sports car company, too originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 18 Mar 2013 08:01:00 EST.
Land Rover is gearing up for this year's New York Auto Show with a teaser for the company's new Range Rover Sport. The brief clip doesn't reveal much beyond a fender and a quick glimpse at a headlamp (which picks up the flared look of the new Range Rover), but we do get to put an ear on the machine's exhaust note for the first time. Trust us when we tell you you'll want to get friendly with your volume knob on this one. Details are scarce as can be at the moment, but it certainly sounds as if there are eight furious cylinders burbling away in this thing.

The last time we saw the Range Rover Sport in development, it was prancing around in the snow near the Arctic Circle. That peek didn't give us much to go on beyond some suggestion towards a significantly revised lower fascia, though we have heard Land Rover is working on whipping up a seven-passenger version of the Range Rover Sport in addition to the standard five-passenger model. Since previous iterations of the RRS have derived their underpinnings from the seven-passenger LR4, that would seem to be a pretty easy thing to engineer. While you're waiting for the Big Apple reveal, you can check out the new teaser video below.

Continue reading Land Rover releases first Range Rover Sport teaser footage

Land Rover releases first Range Rover Sport teaser footage originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 12 Mar 2013 15:45:00 EST.
Bentley has released another teaser video for its redesigned Flying Spur, and the next generation car is looking less like a grown up Continental GT and more like a junior Mulsanne. A viewing of the first teaser vid revealed a more upright grille, a three-spoke steering wheel, horizontal taillights and quarter panels with angles and curves certifiably lifted from the Mulsanne. After this second video, we can add lower door panels with a more aggressive shape, horizontal vents in the fenders and a rear end with the shape of proper haunches.

The English motorcar maker promises us we'll see more on February 20, when "performance and luxury unite." We'll be there in person when the "Camry for rich people" is revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month. You'll find the videographic appetizer below.
Continue reading Bentley teases new Flying Spur sedan

Bentley teases new Flying Spur sedan originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 18 Feb 2013 10:57:00 EST.
Ferrari has announced the automaker will debut the company's "most powerful HyperFerrari [sic]" at this year's Geneva Motor Show. The news came courtesy of Instagram, where the Italian automaker posted a familiar-looking rendering with a quick note. Details are still remarkably scarce, though Ferrari says the successor to the Enzo throne will be able to "turn into a corner" as quick as a Formula One car thanks in part to the fact that the road-going machine will feature as much downforce as an F1 competitor. From what we've heard so far, the Enzo replacement will boast over 800 horsepower from the combination of a V12 engine and a HY-KERS system.

We've already heard some interesting tidbits about the new machine, including the fact that each model will come with a driver's seat tailor made for the buyer. Ferrari says we can also expect to see a quicker 0-120 mph sprint than the old Enzo with 40 percent fewer emissions. Stay tuned for live photos from the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

UPDATE: After some looking into it, Ferrari does not appear to have an official Instagram account, or at least doesn't list one alongside its other official social accounts. We're of the mind now that what appeared on this Instragram is not officially from the Horse's mouth.
Ferrari F150 Enzo successor is Geneva bound [UPDATE] originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 10 Feb 2013 15:02:00 EST. Last time we saw the 2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur out testing, our only questions about the new car regarded its rear-end styling, and when the car would debut. Well now we know for certain that the car will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, and we're also getting a better idea of what the car will look like thanks to Bentley releasing a brief teaser video.

The easiest-to-spot detail that we see in this Flying Spur video is the car's horizontal taillights - the first such on a Bentley since the 1990s. We can also see that this hyper-luxury sedan will get a more squared-off front end than its Continental GT counterpart. But, from what we can tell, it will receive a similarly laid out interior, including the three-spoke steering wheel.
On the same day Rolls-Royce releases its first official teaser image showing the 2014 Wraith, we also get a look at the car undergoing some cold-weather testing courtesy of some new spy shots. As the coupe version of the Ghost, the 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it's expected to go on sale during the fourth quarter of this year.

Rolls-Royce already confirmed plenty of information in a teaser it released last week, but the latest image shows us a clear shot of what the car's midsection will look like. Comparing this image and the spy shots, we can see that the Wraith will have a pretty sleek - (almost Bentley Continental GT-like) roofline, and, like the Phantom Coupe, it will have rear-hinged doors. We can also tell from the spy shots that it seems to be keeping the same face as the Ghost and taillights, too.

Rolls-Royce is headed to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show with a new addition to its lineup: the Wraith. The ultra-luxury automaker says it plans to start deliveries by the fourth quarter of this year, though details are scarce at the moment. The automaker has contented itself with saying the Wraith will the "most dynamic, powerful and beautiful Rolls-Royce in the company's history." We hear it will be the most modest, too.

Rolls-Royce first began using the Wraith nameplate in 1938. The original car used a tweaked version of the 4.3-liter inline six-cylinder found in the company's 25/30, but its real claim to fame came from the fact that it boasted speed-variable hydraulic dampers. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 85 miles per hour, Rolls-Royce only built 492 examples of the vehicle's chassis.

You can look for the new Wraith to bow at the Geneva Motor Show in March. In the interim, check out the shockingly bare press release below and get ready for a spate of teasers to follow.
Continue reading Rolls-Royce teases Wraith debut in Geneva

Rolls-Royce teases Wraith debut in Geneva originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 18 Jan 2013 11:01:00 EST.
Not wanting to be left out of the teaser fun that comes before the Detroit Auto Show - don't forget amidst all this obscured-view hubbub that the actual show starts next week Monday - Nissan has deposited this partial image of what it is calling the Resonance Concept on its Facebook page. Save for letting us know that the real deal will be unveiled on January 15, no information has been given in concert with the mysterious picture.

Given the distinctly crossover-esque shape of the rendered vehicle, it's a pretty good guess that the Resonance will preview the design direction for either a new Murano or Rogue, with our money being on the former. Expect the concept to feature a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain, and some truly impressive LED real estate on its backside. Much more info to come next week - live from the floor of Cobo.
Nissan teases Resonance Concept, possible Murano successor originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 10 Jan 2013 13:00:00 EST.
Toyota didn't hang any meat on the hook of this teaser image for the Furia concept, so you'll just have to make the most of the hook itself. The concept sedan will be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and we don't know any more about its whats and whys from when it was first teased last month, we know it has ornate, bubble-accented lights and looks very Toyota-y in back.

The press release below drops knowledge on things that have nothing to do with the Furia concept.
Lincoln has released a new video teasing... something. In what looks to be an advertisement for more advertising, the company has worked up a clip featuring everything from a drum solo and a flying hawk to Abraham Lincoln himself. The video shows a few shots of what looks to be an MKZ and promises more news is coming on Monday.

What does the company have up its sleeves? Rumors are bouncing around the web like so many ill-informed ping-pong balls, and cover everything from an alternative powertrain for the MKZ to a new two-door model - noise that is underscored by the presence of a Ford Mustang chassis lurking in the background of the video around the 27-second mark (see screen capture above).

Could Lincoln be considering a rear-wheel drive luxury coupe built on the pony's bones? A move like that seems awfully unlikely, but it certainly wouldn't hurt our feelings. Either way, we'll find out more tomorrow. In the interim, check out the teaser video below for yourself.
Continue reading Lincoln video teases new things to come... but what?

Lincoln video teases new things to come... but what? originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 02 Dec 2012 19:02:00 EST.
Think back to the debut of the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro - a full three years passed between the concept's official debut in 2006 and when the production model launched in 2009, with a whole lot of hype in between. And why would the roll-out of the halo car Corvette be any different? That in mind, we bring you what General Motors is calling 2014 Corvette Trailer 1: Conception.

The video centers around the idea of form following function in performance vehicles, and the short film is full of images showing the new Corvette testing in the wind tunnel, revealing only snippets of the C7. Another key moment is found in the opening five seconds: a profile shot of the 'Vette under wraps, followed by several seconds of design sketches.

All in, there isn't anything too revealing to be found in this trailer. And if you remember correctly, GM did recently release another Corvette teaser, which would technically make this video the second trailer video. It's all moot though, as we probably won't see any sort of full, discernible reveal until the official debut on January 13 - the eve of the Detroit Auto Show. Check out the video below, and stay tuned for more teasers of the Corvette. You know there will be plenty to come.
Continue reading See the C7 Corvette being born in Conception

See the C7 Corvette being born in Conception originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 15 Nov 2012 10:30:00 EST.
Honda has dropped another teaser image for the upcoming 2013 CR-Z, a model set to debut at the fast-approaching Paris Motor Show.

While there are few real details to go with the shadowy hybrid image, Honda says its updated CR-Z will receive power bumps for both its gasoline engine and its electric motor. Said output enhancements will not compromise fuel economy or emissions performance, either.

This dead-on front image of the car makes plain a few of the styling changes, too. The new CR-Z is running a strip of LED lighting under its HID headlights. The new front grille is filled with a honeycomb insert, losing the horizontal upper slats of the current car. The lower front fascia has been altered, as well.

Stay tuned for loads more information about the 2013 Honda CR-Z as we move closer to the September 27 opening day of the Paris show.
2013 Honda CR-Z gets shadowy preview ahead of Paris originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 14 Sep 2012 10:15:00 EST.
McLaren channeled its inner Tron for a new supercar teaser. The quick clip, titled "McLaren vs Aerodynamics" shows little more than a few beams of light skittering around the shape of a car. As you may recall, the company is set to unveil its next model at the rapidly approaching Paris Motor Show. Details are about as scarce as hen's teeth at the moment, but word has it that the P12 may boast an 800-horsepower variant of the same twin-turbo V8 found at the heart of the MP4-12C. In addition to the gasoline mill, the P12 is rumored to make use of a powerful kinetic energy recovery system good for an extra 200-hp bump.

Look for more information to become available once the P12 debuts in Paris on September 27. Until then, check out the teaser video below for a better look.
Continue reading McLaren hints at P12 supercar with novel teaser

McLaren hints at P12 supercar with novel teaser originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 13 Sep 2012 17:30:00 EST.
On September 27, a date that will see us sifting through the action on the Paris Motor Show floor, it looks like the Honda CR-Z will show off its mid-cycle refresh. Honda's Japanese web site has a short slideshow revealing three new features of the next little hybrid hatchback.

The scant bit of text is all in Japanese, naturally, so we don't know how the "Life Design Hybrid" is being pitched. While we couldn't make out any words or characters that suggested the CR-Z will become a widebody twin-turbo V6, some LED DRLs, snazzy new wheels and a button marked "S+" have been given away. The CR-Z already has a Sport setting, so if S+ brings a higher grade of performance, perhaps that could mean a few more hardcore bits and a goosing of its horsepower will come in tow. This is all speculation, though, but now we know we have even more surprises coming in three weeks.
Honda CR-Z facelift teased on Japanese site originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 08 Sep 2012 12:51:00 EST.
