Ford is launching its Sync 3 connected car system this summer in Europe with support for 14 European languages.
Earlier this year, Adrian Hallmark was appointed to the position of executive director of Saab's global sales efforts. After just seven months on the job, reports are that he has resigned to take a position with Jaguar as the Global Brand Director, effective December 1. Hallmark had taken his position at Saab just two months after the company was purchased by Spyker Cars, from General Motors. Hallmark had held top management positions with Porsche, Bentley and Volkswagen prior to joining Saab.
If such a thing is possible, Volvo 240s have an even mustier image in Australia than they do in the United States. That's good for those of us who know that they're anvil tough and respond well to modifications. Being front engine, rear wheel drive and European, the ingredients for a stormer are there, if you care to do some work. Additionally, 240s are super easy to work on, and there's a decent enthusiast base, especially now with the interweb tubes in full swing.
Included in the cost of every Koenigsegg CCX is the tuition for a high performance driving school. One owner decided to opt out of the school and subsequently wrecked his brand new CCX within 18 hours of taking delivery. The nephew of one of the owners of H&M (a store that sells high end clothing at economical rates) attempted to pass another vehicle, moved into the oncoming lane, lost control and spun, colliding with a garbage truck.
We reported a long while back about Saab's plan to sharply reduce the number of drunk driving cases involving its own vehicles in Sweden and abroad. Called the AlcoKey, this small cell phone size device is basically a breathalyzer with a radio transmitter that tells your Saab whether or not you're fit to be behind the wheel. If you fail the breath test, the car won't start -- simple as that. Not only does it analyze the alcohol content in your breath, it also measures the temperature of your bre
Saab decided to leave well enough alone with the 9-3's exterior for the 2007 model year adding only a few new colors to the car's palette, but the interior received a lot of attention that focuses on the driver's experience inside the cockpit. The center console's button count has been dramatically reduced thanks to the addition of rotary controls for such systems as the HVAC. Take a peek at last year's center console and you'll see how far the 9-3's interior has come in terms of simplicity. The
The Swedes are on the forefront of alternative energy research and Saab has done its part by announcing a new advanced BioPower engine that delivers 14-percent more horsepower and 11-percent more torque when running on E85 rather than gasoline. That translates into 210 ethanol-induced bhp and 229 ft-lbs of torque, versus 185 bhp and 206 ft-lbs on gas. Meanwhile, a trip to 62 mph takes 7.9 seconds on E85 and 8.5 seconds while chugging fossil fuel. The "flexfuel" engine displaces 2.3 liters across
Mona Sahlin, Sweden's Minister for Sustainable Development (How many countries have a position like this? How many will in 10 years?) wrote a detailed opinion column last week about how little Sweden is going to deal with the huge problem of peak oil in the coming decades. Sahlin's call to break all of Sweden's dependence on oil by 2020 – only 14 years from now – is ambitious, but apparently a reachable goal. The country has been reducing energy usage and finding alternative energy s
