<br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/model/lfa">Lexus LFA</a> supercar might not be in dealerships for another year or more, but the two prototypes are getting quite a workout. After driving the car in Miami, we heard the white one was shipped off to Europe while the black one took up residence in its new home: a trailer. The car has made a few appearances around the country, most recently at SEMA and a private showing in the Los Angeles area. Next stop on the LFA tour appears to be the LA Auto Show, but apparently it couldn't stand to be cooped up too long.<br />
<br />
Along with a handful of other Lexus show cars, it showed up at our favorite Saturday morning car meet. The handler fired it up several times so the crowd could marvel at that V10 shriek. Reactions were mixed, mainly where price was concerned. We heard more than one person say that if it had a Supra badge and sub-$100K pricetag, it would be a killer. At four times that price, the Lexus badge just doesn't seem to win as many people over. One thing almost everyone loved was that changeable display with the sliding center gauge.<br />

Go figure.<br />
<br />
<em>Autocar</em> came across a patent filing showing a few diagrams depicting this unique door setup. What sets it apart is the fact that the new Ferrari door includes part of the front fender and hinges upward like the butterfly door from a LeMans racer. Apparently the opening is large enough and shaped in such a way that "occupants can place their foot directly behind the front wheel."<br />
<p>According to the patent application, that will make ingress and egress much easier for passengers in low-slung supercars, though the new door design is said to work just as well on front engined cars as it does for vehicles with their engines mounted aft or amidships. Even better, this design and its unique hinges are reported to be "easy and cost-effective to make," which should make it easier for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/08/sema-2009-worst-of-show-this-car-stinks/">Dodge Chargers of SEMA</a> circa 2012 to get in on the fun too.<br />
<br />
We're still seeing an issue with the A-pillar and windscreen, but it looks interesting. We'll be sure to keep an eye out for any photos of these funky doors, but for now we're stuck wondering how hard it was for Ferrari engineers to use the supplied British sports car diagram in order to submit their application form.<br />

<br />
So you like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/08/pics-aplenty-lamborghini-murcielago-lp670-4-superveloce/">Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV</a>, but you're struggling to justify the price. After all, it may be just as fast as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/11/seven-of-20-lamborghini-reventons-for-sale-on-one-website/">Revent&oacute;n</a>, but it only costs a third of that range-topping bull. You like that it's the latest limited-edition hypercar from Sant'Agata Bolognese, but will everyone think you're slumming by not getting the most expensive bull in the barn? Come to think of it, maybe you can hold out for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/15/frankfurt-2009-lamborghini-reventon-roadster-is-bonkers/">Revent&oacute;n Roadster</a>, which should easily surpass the coupe as the <em>ne plus ultra</em> in the Lambo lineup. Of course, you could just stick with your <em>ordinary</em> LP640-4 or <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/first-images-of-lamborghini-murcielago-lp-650-4-roadster/">LP650-4 Roadster</a> a little longer and wait for the Murcielago replacement in a year or two.<br />
<br />
When that so-called <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/04/rumormill-lamborghini-working-on-short-wheelbase-v12-jota-reve/">Jota</a> finally debuts, it will bring with it a new carbon fiber chassis and an equally new direct-injected 6.0-liter V12 thought to be good for at least 700 horsepower. Yeah, that's probably the way to go. After all, the economy isn't exactly the best right now and plunking down $1.5M for a new car might make others unnecessarily envious. Haters. Of course, if you wait too long, you might find yourself debating waiting a little longer still for the Jota-besting halo car from Lamborghini, the rumored Urus.<br />
<br />
CARS UK is quoting "a source close to Lamborghini" when they talk about this new halo vehicle, which is expected to take on all comers, especially that "<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/04/spy-shots-ferrari-enzo-successor-fx70-spotted/">FX70</a>" Enzo-replacement coming out of Maranello. Using a modified Jota chassis, the Urus will go on an even stricter diet to make it a <strike>featherweight</strike> lighter heavyweight. It will drop the few bits of aluminum that are expected to be used on the Jota and go all carbon fiber. That, active aerodynamics, and a nearly 800 horsepower version of the Jota V12 in its engine bay should allow the Urus to challenge even the Bugatti Veyron with a sub-3-second 0-60mph time. The real question becomes -- Can you wait until 2012 for the Urus or will you buckle a year earlier and pop for the Jota in 2011? You know what, just get both.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Veritas RS III - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
After an eight-year buildup, the Veritas RS III has finally slithered into series production in Grafschaft-Gelsdorf, Germany. Just like the Dutch firm Spyker, Vermot AG has resurrected the post-war German racing marque that sold a few road-going versions of their racers to a handful of lucky enthusiasts. Now, the new company is doing less racing and more street scorching, and the RS III is its first foray into the world of production cars.<br />
<br />
In Monterey this past August, we caught our first glimpse of the finally-ready-for-production <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/18/monterey-2009-face-to-face-with-the-veritas-rs-iii/">Veritas RS III</a>. With its newly revised front end (now with 50 percent more serpent!) it looks even more like a BMW Z8 on acid. Which is totally appropriate, because this retro rocketsled is powered by the same 5.0-liter V10 engine found in the M5 supersedan. With 500 hp propelling a scant 2,400 pounds, the 30 <strike>insane</strike> lucky folks who plunk down <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/13/veritas-rs-iii-priced-at-nearly-half-a-million-w-video/">a million bucks</a> for one of these can look forward to a 0-100km/h dash of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of more than 215 MPH.<br />
<br />
That's Enzo-like performance for an Enzo-like price, but it offers ten times the exclusivity -- not to mention Veritas started operating the same year as Enzo Ferrari in 1947. The difference is that this serpent lay dormant for almost 50 years, getting ready to strike. Vermot has released a slew of new photos and additional details about the car, which you can find in the press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/19/veritas-rs-iii-roadster-ready-for-production/">after the jump</a>.<br />

<div align="center"><strong><em><small>27th Concours d'Elegance at the St. Regis, Dana Point - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></em></strong></div>
<br />
For its 27th iteration, Orange County's most prestigious classic car show returned to the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, and finally dropped the "Newport Beach" from its name. No longer would it be known as the Newport Beach Concours d'Elegance, instead adopting the Concours d'Elegance at the St. Regis moniker. The title may have changed, but the quality of the entrants hasn't. Still benefiting the <a href="http://www.hoaghospitalfoundation.org">Mary &amp; Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital</a> and the <a href="http://www.atsc4kids.org/">CSP Assessment and Treatment Services Center</a>, the field of classic cars at this concours was once again stunning. <br />
<br />
This year's featured marque was Mercedes-Benz, and the automaker was represented by some truly spectacular models, aided in no small part by the show's proximity to the Mercedes Classic Car Center, the factory-backed restoration shop for vintage Mercedes vehicles. Besides the beautiful Benzes, the roughly 3,000 attendees got to see about 300 other classic and exotic vehicles spread out around the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort and the adjacent Dana Point Sea Terrace Park. Read on to learn what else we found during our day in Dana Point and don't forget to check out the huge gallery below.<br />

Tech specs are hypothesized to be a high-pressure turbocharged inline six cylinder with 400 hp that would use either a mechanical valve system or BMW's VANOS system, and run through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Along with electronic stop/start aids, there would be technology to turn exhaust gasses into electricity. With the use of plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum, the car is meant to weigh no more than 3,080 pounds.<br /><br />Even though it hasn't stopped Ferrari and Lamborghini, lead BMW designer Adrian Van Hooydonk thinks it might be hard to sell the Z10 with a supercar body in a global recession. Most importantly, though, he wants the car to be a symbol of the future, and to offer an "exciting dynamic experience." We can't imagine the sketch is anything go by, unless he also wants the car to try and eat you.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/BMW-Z10ED/238716/#">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/rendered-speculation-bmw-z10-ed-to-tackle-audi-r8/">Rendered Speculation: BMW Z10 ED to tackle Audi R8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 18:58:00 EST. <br />Although muscle cars are usually in the spotlight at Barrett-Jackson, there were quite a few interesting supercars that caught our attention as well. First up was a Saleen <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/1301813/">S7 Twin-Turbo</a> done up in stunning Beryllium custom paint. This particular car served as a press vehicle for Saleen and was featured in the movie <em>Redline</em> (who cares?), and <em>Iron Man</em> (cool!). Did we mention it also has the one-and-only 1,000-horsepower upgrade done by the factory. The winning bidder took the car home for $412,000. For a little more than half that much, another bidder took home one of the ultimate supercars of the last decade, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/1301821/">1993 Jaguar XJ220</a>. Other examples sold in the past few years have gone for a mere fraction of the original list price, and we think this car was well sold at the coincidental price of $220,000, perhaps due to its DOT/EPA certification. For those looking for a supercar on a budget, there was a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/1301817/">1996 Vector M12</a>, one of only 14 built with just 6,388 miles, that sold for a mere $94,600. Other exotics that crossed the block included a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/1301828/">Hennessey Venom 700R</a> that sold for $115,500 and an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/1301832/">Ultima Can-Am</a> purchased for $51,700.<br /><br />Don't forget to check out this past weekend's complete coverage of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/barrett-jackson">2009 Barrett-Jackson Auction</a> in Scottsdale by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/barrett-jackson">clicking here</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/low/">Barrett-Jackson 2009: The Supercars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/supercarsbj09_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/supercarsbj09_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/supercarsbj09_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/supercarsbj09_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/supercarsbj09_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 </small></strong><small><a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/"><strong><small>Drew Phillips</small></strong></a><strong> / Weblogs, Inc.</strong></small></em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/barrett-jackson-2009-the-supercars/">Barrett-Jackson 2009: The Supercars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 14:58:00 EST. Although next year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/23/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-nissan-gt-r/">Nissan GT-R</a> will <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/20/nissan-drops-launch-control-from-2010-gt-r/">reportedly (maybe) lose launch control</a>, it will get five more horsepower after a few electronics tweaks, going from 480 PS (473 hp) to 485 PS (478 hp), according to an official statement from Nissan UK. It will also be stickier thanks to the stock fitment of Dunlop SP Sport 600 DSST tires - the same troublesome rubber that earned the GT-R its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/01/gt-r-drops-ring-time-down-to-7-29/">7:29 'Ring time</a> and the continued <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/porsche-accuses-nissan-gt-r-of-cheating-the-ring/">public complaints of Porsche</a> - and altered spring rate settings. <br /><br />Aesthetically, the Premium Edition GT-R gets rims in Gun Metal Grey, and the Black Edition wears the same wheels in black. And in a development straight out of a marketing roundtable, Pearl White simply wasn't cutting it as an exterior color, so it's been replaced by a "deep" white called "Storm."<br /> <br />Of course, all of this will cost you more and you'll have to wait longer: the base GT-R jumps 3.8-percent in price up to &pound;56,795, and you can tack on &pound;1,300 more for a Premium Edition or &pound;2,600 for the Black Edition. And then you can wait until 2010 for your car to arrive.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/">Review: 2009 Nissan GT-R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Nissan]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/08/european-nissan-gt-r-specs-released-with-more-power-grip/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>European Nissan GT-R specs released, now with more power, grip</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/08/european-nissan-gt-r-specs-released-with-more-power-grip/">European Nissan GT-R specs released, now with more power, grip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 08 Dec 2008 16:59:00 EST. The folks over at Auto Express have a cutaway view of the NSX's gizzards, and what lurks beneath the creased and chevroned skin of the next do-it-all-faster supercar could be good for a few extra heartbeats. We do hope, however, that these exterior renderings are quite a ways off. Otherwise, it might not be so bad if Acura offers a cutaway version of the actual car so that you don't have to see its body, because even under the camo, the new NSX is shaping up to be um, homely.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/231327/under_the_skin_of_allnew_nsx.html">Auto Express</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/under-the-skin-of-the-2010-acura-nsx/">Under the skin of the 2010 Acura NSX</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 19 Nov 2008 09:30:00 EST. </small> <br />As much as we love its tires, we are really upset with Michelin. Where is the annual supercar lovefest that has been the Michelin SEMA booth? <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/01/sema-2007-michelin-supercar-display/">Last year's display</a> was an incredible assortment of stock, tuned and race vehicles from Audi, Chevrolet and Porsche. The year before that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/03/sema-gallery-greatest-supercar-display-ever-from-michelin/">Michelin booth</a> had a Caparo T1, Koenigsegg, RUF, Saleen S7, McLaren F1, Bugatti Veyron and Pagani Zonda. Those are tough acts to follow for supercar fans, so Michelin just decided to stop trying and didn't show this year. In all fairness, a lot of companies are absent or here with a much smaller setup. Something about the economy. Although it's a little tougher now, it's still possible for a SEMA showgoer to get a healthy dose of supercar exposure, though. It just takes a little more shoe leather or a click of your finger to see some of this year's supercars in our gallery below. In it you'll see cars from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144035/">Mosler</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144037/">Spyker</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144038/">Ferrari</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144033/">Lamborghini</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144043/">Chevy</a>, Factory Five, Porsche, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/1144039/">Aston Martin</a> and more. There were also quite a few race cars scattered around the halls this year that we thought you might like to see, as well.<em> Check out the huge gallery by clicking on any image.</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/">SEMA 2008: Supercars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-supercars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semasupercars---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/">SEMA 2008: Racecars</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2008-racecars/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/semaracecars---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong>Photos copyright (C)2008 Frank Filipponio/Weblogs, Inc.</strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/sema-2008-supercar-sightings/">SEMA 2008: Supercar sightings from show floor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 14:58:00 EST. These are subtle alterations, with LED daytime running lights, bigger intakes, a new air dam lip up front and revised taillights out back. The bigger news is that the GT3 RS will get more power with the addition of direct injection, and even faster gear changes when equipped with the PDK gearbox. And that means even faster acceleration, because you can never get enough of that. The car should start making its rounds around the auto show circuit next year.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/2010-porsche-911-997-gt3-rs-facelift-spotted/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/23/spy-shots-porsche-gt3-rs/">Spy Shots: Porsche GT3 RS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 08:29:00 EST. <br />Such is the logic of luxury economics: charge tens of thousands of dollars more for the same product, sell fewer of them and boost the balance sheet and your brand's long-term viability. That is what Aston Martin's considering for the next phase of its business plan, which runs from roughly 2011 to 2019 and will see the launch of DB9 and Vantage successors, the Rapide, and the renewed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/10/aston-martins-lagonda-s-class-fighter-coming-in-2012/">Lagonda</a> brand.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/29/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/">Vantage</a> and DB9 are big sellers for Aston, but the company might be unsure of how to sustain the momentum. One option is to move the price of the $113,000 Vantage closer to the $171,000 DB9, and move that latter car closer to the $265,000 DBS, sell fewer of them but make more money. The DB9 does strike us as a (relative) bargain - it's cheaper than a Bentley GT -- but pricing the Vantage closer to the DB9 would seem to wreck its business case as a 911 fighter. Another option could be to replace the Vantage or DB9 with a mid-engined sports car, which could be drool-worthy and well worth the price bump... but perhaps un-Aston-like.<br /><br />AutoWeek also appears to report that the One-77 <em>isn't</em> sold out, writing "Although Aston has said that it would make a maximum of 77 cars, insiders privately say the market is closer to 25." We don't know how that could be, unless a bunch of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/14/aston-martin-one-77-already-sold-out-and-then-some/">100 people who applied to buy</a> the car were just kidding... <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/">First Drive: 2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/01_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/02_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/03_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/04_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-aston-martin-v8-vantage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/05_astonmartin_v8_vant_fd_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081020/FREE/810179994/1023/CARNEWS">AutoWeek</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/21/aston-martin-to-move-further-upmarket/">Aston Martin to move further upmarket?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 21 Oct 2008 17:29:00 EST. Other winners, like the ZR1 for Bang for the Buck and Continental Flying Spur Speed for Performance Sedan, make up the usual murderers' row of marques and models. What isn't usual is that in just one year, the total price of all the cars jumped 200% to $4.5 million because of a certain Bug and a Koenigsegg, and that the total horsepower climbed 57%, from 4,276 to 6,723.<br /><br />Oddly, though, duPont says that the era of hi-po supercars may have peaked, and things could be going green - but neither the list nor the facts on the ground bear it out. Of the eleven cars, only the Tesla and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/14/sema-08-preview-ronn-scorpion-hydrogen-injected-supercar-to-de/">Ronn Motors Scorpion</a> could be considered green, and one of them doesn't even exist yet. As for the rest, we don't know what the opposite of green is, but none of the nine other cars are expected to have less horsepower in their follow-up guises. Which means there's still time to get some thrills in, as long as you've got at least $110,000 to spend... Check out the full press release after the jump.<br /><br />[Source: duPont Registry]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/09/dupont-registrys-11-best-of-cars-set-horsepower-price-record/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>duPont Registry's 11 "Best of" cars set horsepower, price records</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/09/dupont-registrys-11-best-of-cars-set-horsepower-price-record/">duPont Registry's 11 "Best of" cars set horsepower, price records</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 09:30:00 EST. Even America's sports car, the Corvette, is not exempt, with CAFE regulations clouding the view inside the 'Vette Nation's crystal ball. <br /><em><br />Motor Trend</em>, commenting on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/23/corvette-c7-in-holding-pattern-due-to-cafe-regs/">C7 Corvette's delayed arrival</a>, has said that the new coupe won't appear until the 2014 model year at the earliest. The mid-engined route has also been scrapped, since it would simply cost too much to re-engineer the entire car for the purpose of easier integration of fuel saving tech like cylinder deactivation. <br /><br />That means <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/20/enter-the-rumormill-2012-c7-corvette-zr1-with-twin-turbo-v6/">a six-cylinder is still being talked about</a> -- by GM outsiders only, at this point -- as an option for the C7. If we take the Camaro as an example, that 2014 introduction date could mean late 2012, but that still only gives you four years to mentally prepare for a budget- and economy-minded V6 Corvette. Get cracking. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2008/112_0812_c7_chevrolet_corvette_update/index.html">Motor Trend</a>]</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/07/no-future-for-the-mid-engine-corvette/">No future for the mid-engine Corvette</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Oct 2008 14:28:00 EST. One thing that can be gleaned from the rendering on the <em>TG</em> microsite is the headlight layout, with an inner row of LEDs leading back to an array that includes at least one additional cluster of LEDs. The front end still looks a tad overwrought to us - and a little reminiscent of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/paris-2008-the-gt-by-citroen-no-the-whole-thing-this-time/">GTbyCitroen</a> - but we suppose we'll just have to get a copy of <em>Top Gear</em> before we vote with our thumbs.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.topgear.com/content/magflash/1300/">Top Gear</a> via <a href="http://motorgears.blogspot.com/2008/10/magazine-revels-aston-martin-one-77.html">Motor Gears</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/06/top-gear-magazine-sorta-reveals-aston-martin-one-77/">Top Gear Magazine (sorta) reveals Aston Martin One-77</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 06 Oct 2008 07:58:00 EST. <p>Certain cars encourage a response that is as routine and predictable as the reaction to a stoplight, and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/29/mercedes-benz-reveals-slr-mclaren-roadster-722-s/">Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 S Roadster</a> is one of those cars. This is what happens every time someone gets in one, irrespective of their age, sex, or nationality: she snuggles into the seat, looks into the footwell to make sure her feet are placed just so on the pedals, slides her hands around the steering wheel for a couple of seconds to find just the right position, snuggles into the seat again... and then she just sits there, staring off into the distance. She might flip the paddles once or twice, or check out the center console. Then it's back to the thousand yard stare at the wall in front of her. She gets her picture taken, notices the line of people waiting to do the same thing, and it's all repeated again and again. And for good reason - the SLR McLaren 722 S Roadster is topless testosterone-topped terrificality. 650 horsepower from a supercharged 5.5L V8 and a convertible soft top that'll stay put above 208 mph deserves the attention. You can check out the specs after the jump, or better yet, go straight to the gallery of high-res images below that we snapped in between the line of people waiting to sit in it.<br /></p>

<div align="center"><strong><em><font size="1">Click above for high-res gallery of the 2009 Corvette ZR1</font></em></strong></div>
<p align="left">The car that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/15/top-gear-reviews-zr1-cant-get-past-corvette-looks/">Top Gear liked to drive</a>, if not exactly to look at, has a price they definitely won't want to pay. At an on-the-road price of &pound;109,000, the ZR1 costs nearly &pound;48,000 pounds more than a Z06 in the UK. As if that weren't problematic enough, that price puts the left-hand-drive-only ZR1 &pound;8,000 past the 911 Turbo and a colossal &pound;55,000 beyond the <a href="http://www.nihoncar.com/en/news-751-Nissan+UK+Puts+a+Price+on+the+GT-R.html">GT-R Premium Edition</a>. True, that's still the base GT-R, but Nissan has a whole lot of room to play with when it prices the V-Spec. <br /><br />True as well, the price of the ZR1 also includes a driver training course and a 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty, which should count for something. Perhaps not &pound;55,000, though. Luckily for Chevrolet UK, it will only have to sell two of them this year, and single digits in the years to come. You can read the full press release after the jump, and then decide if you'd rather have one lump of incredible American metal or a GT-R and a Swiss bank account.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/">First Drive: 2009 Corvette ZR1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-corvette-zr1-1280-05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/zr1-1st-drive-1280-46_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/2009-corvette-zr1-1280-28_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/zr1-1st-drive-1280-20_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/08/zr1-1st-drive-1280-21_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://media.gm.com/gb/corv/en/news/pk/pk_1222340455_FASTEST/index.html">GM</a>]<br /><br /><br /></p><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/29/corvette-zr1-to-cost-109-000-in-uk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Corvette ZR1 to cost £109,000 in UK</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/29/corvette-zr1-to-cost-109-000-in-uk/">Corvette ZR1 to cost £109,000 in UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 29 Sep 2008 10:58:00 EST. <p align="left">As we all know, there are supercars, and then... there's the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. It has been called old and overweight, it has been called impractical and overpriced, it has been called out for its propensity to make 10-year-old boys lick its windows. When we got word that the LP640 would be stopping by the Autoblog Garage for a weekend, it was our chance to see if the childhood dream was still potent enough to answer adult desires. We've driven the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/28/first-drive-bugatti-veyron/">Bugatti Veyron</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/28/in-the-autoblog-garage-bentley-continental-gt-speed/">Bentley Continental GT Speed</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/06/pinch-us-autoblog-drives-the-2008-porsche-gt2/">Porsche GT2</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/19/autoblog-first-drive-2009-corvette-zr1/">Corvette ZR1</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/08/first-drive-2008-dodge-viper-srt10-acr/">Dodge Viper ACR</a> and even Lambo's own <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/19/first-drive-2009-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4/">Gallardo LP560</a>, and they were showstoppers. But when we finally met this Lambo, we had only one thing to say: Great googlymoogly!<br /></p>

The fractional bit of additional horsepower didn't mean much to him, but he did say the brakes were more capable, and, surprise, the car is quite wide and people like to stare at it. After six hours on Italy's B-roads, that basically sums up his impressions. Since he didn't have too much to say in print, we really do hope he's saving the zingers for the show...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autofiends.com/index.php/2008/08/lamborgini-reventon-first-drive-impression-by-tanner-foust/">AutoFiends</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/31/tanner-tests-his-top-gear-skills-on-the-lambo-reventon/">Tanner tests his Top Gear skills on the Lambo Reventon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 31 Aug 2008 13:53:00 EST. However, he can't take up the position at McLaren until he finishes his "gardening leave," a mandatory vacation between sensitive jobs that aims to prevent employees from taking their inside knowledge with them. <br /><br />McLaren says that the car won't look anything like the sketches that made the rounds last year. That's not such a bad thing -- while a good looking car, the sketches were uninspiring and a bit derivative. We expect that the man who has had a hand in everything from the BMW X5 and MINI to the Ferrari F430, Maserati Quattroporte and MC12 probably has a few good ideas left lying around. Unfortunately, the arrival of the P11 has been pushed back a year due to the redesign, to probably mid-to-late 2010.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.aspx?AR=234580">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/27/mclaren-p11-supercar-goes-back-to-the-drawing-board-in-two-mo/">McLaren P11 supercar goes back to the drawing board... in two months</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 27 Aug 2008 12:02:00 EST.
