<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/subaru">Subaru</a> worked up something special for fans of the company's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/29/subaru-brz-gt300-set-to-take-on-supergt/">BRZ GT300</a>, releasing a video of the wide-body terror prowling around a race track. As you may have heard, Subaru is retiring the current <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/subaru/legacy">Legacy</a> race car that's competing in the SuperGT series, and the BRZ GT300 will carry the Subaru flag moving forward.<br />
<br />
With its wild bodywork and side-exit exhaust, the BRZ GT300 looks menacing standing still. We can only imagine the thrill of watching it go fender-to-fender with the rest of the field. Subaru says that the BRZ GT300 will join the SuperGT fray early next year. Proud of Boxer, indeed. <a href="/2011/12/03/subaru-brz-gt300-looks-even-better-in-motion/#continued">Hit the jump</a> to check out the video for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/03/subaru-brz-gt300-looks-even-better-in-motion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Subaru BRZ GT300 looks even better in motion</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/03/subaru-brz-gt300-looks-even-better-in-motion/">Subaru BRZ GT300 looks even better in motion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 03 Dec 2011 20:01:00 EST. <br />
Less than five minutes after entering the new home of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tokyo-motor-show/">Tokyo Motor Show</a>, we're greeted with this: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/15/subaru-brz-to-challenge-japans-super-gt-series/">Subaru BRZ GT300 race car</a>.<br />
<br />
Designed to compete in the GT300 class of Japan's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SuperGT/">SuperGT</a> touring car series, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/28/subaru-debuts-production-brz-sport-coupe/">BRZ</a> is set to replace the Legacy B4 that's competed in the series for the last two years. Being a GT300 contender, the BRZ's output will be limited to 300 horsepower and judging by the "Proud of Boxer" stickers flanking the front and rear, it's sure to be packing some manner of flat four, likely displacing around two liters.<br />
<br />
We'll be seeing the BRZ racer take to the track early next year, but in the meantime, scope out the live shots in the gallery above.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/29/subaru-brz-gt300-set-to-take-on-supergt/">Subaru BRZ GT300 set to take on SuperGT</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 29 Nov 2011 20:45:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/subaru">Subaru</a> may have withdrawn from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wrc">World Rally Championship</a> years ago, but the Japanese automaker couldn't stay out of motorsports forever. That's why Subaru has announced that it will campaign a racing version of its hotly anticipated <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/brz">BRZ</a> coupe in Japan's domestic <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/super+gt">Super GT</a> series.<br />
<br />
So far, all we have to go on is the Japanese-language announcement and the teaser sketch above, but what we can tell you is that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/sti">Subaru Tecnica International (STI)</a> will field the BRZ not in the top-tier GT500 category against the likes of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus/lfa">Lexus LFA</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan/gtr">Nissan GT-R</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/hsv">Honda HSV</a>, but in the lower GT300 class. That means it will probably replace the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/subaru/legacy">Legacy</a>-based touring car that STI currently fields.<br />
<br />
That also means, as the category's name suggests, that the BRZ's boxer four will be limited in output to 300 horsepower. But with GT300 regulations as close as they are to GT3 rules in other series, could we be looking at a further assault on overseas series as well?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/15/subaru-brz-to-challenge-japans-super-gt-series/">Subaru BRZ to challenge Japan's Super GT series</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 15 Nov 2011 14:02:00 EST.
