There is little doubt that the darling of this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas will be the Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S twins. Stillen is one of many aftermarket tuners hoping to capitalize on the popularity of these two cars, and, in addition to developing performance parts like a cold-air intake, cat-back exhaust, big brake kit and sway bars, will reveal its first body kit for the FR-S in November at the big show in Vegas. The thing is, while Stillen is working on the performance parts, it wants you to design the body kit.

Stillen is now accepting submissions for a contest to design its new FR-S body kit, and what we like in particular about this competition is that you don't have to be a professional designer to win. Stillen is providing the templates to work with, so all you have to do is draw or render what you think the kit should look like from various angles. The contest rules say not to worry if you don't render 3-D objects for a living; judging will be done on shape and design rather than how well you can arrange 1s and 0s.

Submissions will be accepted until August 14th, after which Stillen will choose the top five entries and let the winner be decided by popular vote on Facebook. That person will get a two-night trip to Vegas to attend the SEMA Show in person where his/her design will be unveiled before it goes on sale to the public.
Stillen wants you to design its FR-S body kit originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 20 Jul 2012 10:00:00 EST.
Steve Millen and has talented team know a thing or two about turning Nissan products into Stillen rockets. The latest project to emerge from the tuning company's garage is the supercharged 370Z you see above. The bolt-on kit is legal in all 50 states thanks to the thumbs-up from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and it comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. You won't care about emissions when you're behind the wheel, though - the supercharger kit means this hotter Z now produces over 500 horsepower.

If you own a vehicle with the VQ37 engine, such as the 370Z or Infiniti G37, you owe it to yourself and your machine to turn it into a sports car capable of embarrassing BMW M3 owners. The heart of the Stillen kit is comprised of a Vortech V-3 supercharger, which is fed via a cast-aluminum intake manifold, has a self-contained oiling system and runs on a V-belt design.

Stillen worked hard to make sure this unit fit under the stock hood, unlike the setup created for the Nissan 350Z. This time around there is no need for an ugly hood hump blocking your line of sight. Click past the jump to see the supercharged Stillen 370Z in action.
Continue reading Stillen supersizes power output of Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 [w/video]

Stillen supersizes power output of Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 [w/video] originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 26 Sep 2011 16:56:00 EST.
Any discussion involving one's favorite racer invariably includes names like Senna, Schumacher, Earnhardt and Andretti. But one name that doesn't come up often enough is Steve Millen. Though brother Rod, a legend in his own right, and nephew Rhys get a lot of ink, it's Steve that deserves some time in the spotlight.

Steve Millen has raced a slew of different vehicles in a variety of motorsports, beginning in 1969 when he took up hill climbing before quickly moving over to a Formula Ford car and after that, rally-racing. During the '80s, Millen switched to stadium trucks where he was the 1986, 1988 and 1989 Mickey Thompson Off-Road Grand Prix National champion. In the process, he also found time to win two Indy Lights races during the inaugural season in 1986. But all that racing is peanuts compared to what Steve got himself into in 1990.

It's been more than six months since Stillen started working on their Nissan GT-R race car and we're happy to report it's finished and already on its way to Eastern Canada where it will compete in the Targa Newfoundland in a few weeks. Before the hopped-up GT-R was loaded on the trailer, Steve Millen and his crew took the car out to the El Toro Marine base for a few shakedown runs. Road and Track tagged along to record some performance numbers that, as you might expect, are nothing short of impressive.

Thanks to a huge list of performance parts, the Stillenized GT-R produces 620 horsepower at 15psi from its dual turbochargers. Perhaps more importantly, several hundred pounds have been removed thanks to a stripped interior, lots of carbon fiber body components and lightweight racing seats. The extra power and weight savings results in a 0-60 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a 1/4 mile pass in a mere 11.0 seconds at 127.9 mph. Lateral grip is a gut-clenching 1.1g. You can see the Stillen GT-R in action in the video after the jump or browse through the high-res gallery below.
Rod Millen is one of the most successful North American rally drivers of all time, and although brother Steve is best known for his road racing exploits, he, too, has participated in off-road racing. Nissan once sold cars under the Datsun brand, and long before the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi EVO, the Datsun 510 was one of the stalwarts of rallying. Since Steve Millen's driving career ended, he has focused his efforts on modifying street cars, particularly Nissans through his company Stillen.

Stillen is now working on a new project that brings all of this heritage together: a rally prepped Nissan GT-R. In this case it's a road rally, specifically the Targa Newfoundland which will run from Sept. 12-19. Millen's team is following the usual practices, including chopping weight out of the car, squeezing more power out of the engine, beefing up the brakes and retuning the suspension. Perhaps best of all, Stillen has a blog where curious fans can follow the development and testing process over the next several months.

[Source: Stillen]
Stillen begins work on rally-ready Nissan GT-R originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 11:29:00 EST.
Steve Millen is very appreciative of his racing successes as a factory driver for Nissan. Since retiring from competition, he hasn't let the automaker forget his gratitude. He does so through his aftermarket parts company and tuning shop, Stillen. Stillen's core market consists of the Nissan/Infiniti enthusiast, while Ford fans round a close second. For the past 12 years the Costa Mesa, CA facility has hosted an annual customer appreciation open house aimed at giving a little something back to those who keep things running. During the event, Nissan and Infiniti owners crowd the streets with their rides for a car show, the shop performs installations under the gaze of spectators and the dyno was available for those that wish to show off more than their vehicle's exterior.

This year's open house event even saw Nissan chipping in with some eye candy as well. A handful of knowledgeable and passionate employees were on hand to show off a pair of 2009 Nissan GT-Rs. One of the cars was the very same GT-R track tested by Mr. Millen for a Road & Track feature. Also taking up space in the parking lot was a 2009 Infiniti FX and a 2009 Nissan Maxima, brought along in order to gauge reception from the crowd. The GT-Rs and Maxima were greatly poked and prodded upon, but the FX received little attention. The lack of interest in the FX did not necessarily speak ill of the redesign, but more so of the crowd's nature. A few trucks and SUVs were in attendance, but the majority of vehicles lining the street were of the 350Z, G35, Sentra and 240SX variety. Take a peak at the photo gallery to see a sampling of what was there.

Had to get up at 4:30 to make the 2 hour trek north into the vast wasteland above L.A. but it was worth it. We got a chance to watch a professional racer run his new car ragged trying to get it dialed in for an upcoming road race... in New Zealand. It all started last Saturday at Crystal Cove. Steve Millen had a wild (a la fellow New Zealander Bruce McLaren) orange Ford GT there and we were curious. Follow the jump if you are too.
Continue reading Crazy fast Kiwi: Steve Millen preps a Ford GT for New Zealand road rally

Crazy fast Kiwi: Steve Millen preps a Ford GT for New Zealand road rally originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 03 Sep 2006 06:55:00 EST.
