The premise has the show's two hosts, Tom Stuker and Roe Hubbard, swooping in with just five days to turn lackluster sales into a success story.

So far, the network has eight episodes planned under the tentative title "Car Lot Cowboy." Sure, the world needs another reality TV show like it needs more famine, but we'll reserve judgment until the show airs sometime next year. Still, something tells us this isn't likely to enjoy the same success as the interminable "Survivor" franchise.

Spike TV is an MTV property, and is responsible for such gems as "Deadliest Warrior," "Manswers" and "Repo Games." "Car Lot Cowboy" should fit right in.
Spike TV readying reality show about turning around car dealers originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 27 Sep 2011 07:57:00 EST.
The repo business is tough, therefore America needs a bunch of unwatchable TV "reality" shows about it. Spike's trying to put an intriguing spin on this unfortunate genre with its new game show, Repo Games, in which contestants have a shot at keeping their about-to-be-confiscated rides.

It's not without its risks. As production wrapped on a recent episode, a nearby resident decided he was sick of waiting for the crew to move a vehicle. He told them move along, using a few more colorful words. Apparently, the crew didn't act quickly enough.

A gun was pulled, shots were fired, and fortunately, no one was hurt. To the likely delight of the producers, however, the incident was caught on tape. Check out the clip by clicking past the jump.
Continue reading Repo Games backfires when hosts get shot at

Repo Games backfires when hosts get shot at originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 23 Jul 2011 16:01:00 EST.
We've never had a car repossessed, but we imagine it's a painful ordeal. That doesn't mean that it won't make a great game show, however, as the producers of Jersey Shore have created Repo Games. The premise is simple; real repo guys are taking real cars, but with a twist. If a vehicle owner/contestant answers three out of five questions correctly, the vehicle isn't towed, and the winner gets to keep the vehicle outright.

Tru TV, which will air the show, says that people from all walks of life sometimes have trouble making their car payments. Still, we're guessing that many of the show's contestants will be hard-luck types. Hit the jump to watch the three-minute promo video. Many of the questions from the clip appear to be absurdly simple, though the answers aren't always that easy to come by.
Spike TV has opened up the voting for its Video Game Awards, and the finalists are down to four: DiRT 2, Need for Speed: Shift, Forza Motorsport 3, and Gran Turismo PSP. It's a bit of a motley list, but then again it's been a motley year for driving games, and we're still waiting for a vision of the unicorn otherwise known as Gran Turismo 5. If you want to vote, cast your ballot on Spike's site. If you need a refresher because you insist on being an informed voter, follow the jump and check out some gameplay.
The rest of you, commence eye-rolling. The tattooed chopper builder will soon be back on the small screen, this time on Spike TV. His new vehicle is called Jesse James is a Dead Man, which isn't totally accurate unless you're referring to his namesake forbear. The world needs another "reality" TV show like we need a festering case of hemorrhoids, but TV producer's don't care. This series will focus not on James' welding-torch-wielding antics, but will instead follow Mr. Bullock as he moves from one supposedly dangerous activity to another. Great. Seriously, how bad will this show be? Our guess: Fear Factor bad. We can smell the impending suckage from here... like a steaming hot pile of rotting cabbage.

Just when you thought that the reality TV explosion couldn't possibly get any more far-fetched and ridiculous, the execs go and do something like this... and completely redeem themselves!

[Source: Motorcycle.com]
Shoot your TV: Jesse James is a Dead Man coming soon originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 17:34:00 EST. It seemed one needed only a decent proficiency at reading maps, as well as a lot of luck, to win. The winning team was the father/daughter duo of Mike and Morgan Alsop from Lafayette, Indiana, who took top Bullrun honors at the helm of their 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. While the finale is still sitting on our TiVo, we know that the Alsops got as far as they did by making more friends than enemies, while watching their own backs at the same time. Meanwhile, their Trans Am performed flawlessly throughout the 4,800-mile rally and proved to be bulletproof, unlike the rides brought by many of their competition.

Like true Americans, father and daughter Alsop are eager to capitalize on their fifteen minutes of fame and have put the Championship Trans Am up for sale on eBay Motors. One of the Alsop's fellow Bullrunners already put his Lamborghini Murcielago up for sale on eBay, but he didn't have the decency to give the car a tune up or fix any of the damage it received from the competition. The Alsop's sent their car to a body shop immediately following the race and ordered up a new paint job, tires, suspension components and an engine tune up. So not only are you buying a hella fast Trans Am that's proven to be as reliable as the setting sun, you're also buying a car that's seen the bright lights of Hollywood and has a few stories to tell.

Thanks for the tip, Mike!

[Source: eBay Motors]
eBay Find of the Day: Bullrun-winning Trans Am originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 11 Jun 2007 18:03:00 EST. Although the series has just gotten underway, we can already surmise that the Team #10 Lamborghini Murcielago piloted by owner Jeff Marshall and co-pilot John Eltringham survived relatively intact. And for the right bid, it could be yours.

There are still nice weeks worth of episodes left, so no hints about who walks away with the grand prize are revealed in the listing. We already know that the car had been exhibiting clutch problems in the first two segments, so it's nice to see that Jeff has replaced the $10,000 clutch already. The Murci has a fresh set of rubber too, but needs a couple of other fixes. With some noticeable nose damage that will most likely require a replacement, the team had the other Bullrunners sign the future wallhanging. A new windshield and some paint are also mentioned as things the buyer will need to have fixed.

The car itself is #15 of the batch of fifty 40th Anniversary Murcielagos made in 2003/4. Upgrades include an Al Burtoni exhaust, re-mapped computer, K&N airfilters, new plugs, and new front wheel nuts. The seller adds that others have confirmed this is one of the strongest Murcis around, but he won't be needing this Bull on his Washington ranch. His Cayenne Turbo S will work better in that environment and make it a little easier to settle arguments amongst his three children over who gets to ride along.

Thanks for the tip, TestShoot!

[Source: eBay]
eBay Find of the Day: Bullrun Lamborghini Murcielago originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 21 Mar 2007 13:59:00 EST.
We've been too busy throwing down new posts to attend Spike TV's second annual AutoRox awards, but apparently thatdidn't stop the cable network from going on with the show at Fremont Experience in Las Vegas. Hosted by rapper/actorIce Cube and featuring a variety of performances and celebrities, the show is America's only nationwide televisedautomobile awards ceremony. Chevrolet's Corvette Z06 came away the big winner, netting the night's top honor for"Car of the Year," as well as taking home the "Best Sports Car" and "Deal of the Year"awards.

Other big winners included former Chrysler Chairman and CEO Lee Iacocca, who took home the "Icon Award".Sadly, Snoop Dogg was apparently unable to deliver the award to his golfing buddy, so 24's Kiefer Sutherland stepped inon his behalf.

Other winners include:
