<br />The official numbers for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/04/hands-on-rolls-royce-ghost-is-100-roller-so-far/">Rolls-Royce Ghost</a> have been revealed, and as expected, you won't need to worry about getting embarrassed. The 6.6-liter, twin-turbo V12 is rated at 563 hp and 575 lb-ft, that latter number, in typical Rolls fashion, being available practically at idle - just 1,500 rpm.<br /><br />The run to 60 mph takes 4.8 seconds in North America (but 4.7 elsewhere for some reason), which is a couple of tenths behind the BMW 760i and about a second quicker than the company's own Phantom. For a car once derided as "the baby Rolls," its performance looks as if it will be pleasantly adult. It will go on sale later this year for &pound;165,000 in the U.K. (that's $271K U.S.). You can check out our high-res gallery below and the official Rolls-Royce press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/">Hands-On: Rolls-Royce Ghost</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Rolls-Royce]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/21/rolls-royce-gives-up-the-ghost-performance-numbers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rolls-Royce gives up the Ghost... performance numbers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/21/rolls-royce-gives-up-the-ghost-performance-numbers/">Rolls-Royce gives up the Ghost... performance numbers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 21 Jul 2009 09:27:00 EST. <br />What is a brand? Beyond the badge, what separates a Louis Vuitton bag from a purse that might be just as good, but made by someone else? We come to that question on the occasion of the Rolls-Royce Ghost which, in some quarters, is being considered a Rolls only in name. Autoblog got a chance to crawl around the Ghost - not the "baby Rolls," not the "entry-level Rolls" - and see if the car really is what its makers claim it to be: every bit a Rolls-Royce motorcar.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/">Hands-On: Rolls-Royce Ghost</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/200extouch000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Jonathon Ramsey / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/04/hands-on-rolls-royce-ghost-is-100-roller-so-far/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hands-On: Rolls-Royce Ghost is 100% Roller so far</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/04/hands-on-rolls-royce-ghost-is-100-roller-so-far/">Hands-On: Rolls-Royce Ghost is 100% Roller so far</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 04 Jun 2009 11:57:00 EST. <br />The Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost will not only mean more sales for the company, it will mean more workers. Rolls is adding 300 production workers to the payroll, bringing its Sussex workforce to 900. The majority of new positions will be in the wood, leather and paint shops, but there will be assembly positions opening up as well since the Ghost gets its own line. It might not be the best time to bring a top-end luxury sedan to market, but it is a very good time to apply for a job, and Rolls wants to fill them over the next few months. If you have a luxurious way with wood, leather, or paint (or all three), you can peruse the job openings on the Rolls-Royce site, <font size="2" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a href="http://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/">www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com</a>.</font><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/">Geneva 2009: Rolls-Royce 200EX concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/21/rolls-royce-to-double-workforce-ahead-of-ghost-production/">Rolls-Royce to double workforce ahead of Ghost production</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 21 May 2009 08:01:00 EST. <div align="center"><small><strong><em>Rolls-Royce 200EX - Click above for high-res image gallery</em></strong></small><br /></div>
<br />Despite the fact that Rolls Royce is still calling its 200EX (aka RR4) a concept, the vehicle that debuted at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> earlier this month is, in reality, a thinly disguised future production model that could possibly revive the Silver Ghost nameplate from the early 1900s. According to the European rumormill, the brand may be considering expanding the new downsized range with coupe and droptop versions that would all be based on the same architecture that's been borrowed from the latest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/23/first-drive-2009-bmw-750li/">BMW 7 Series</a>. <br /><br />We can't speak to the voracity of these rumors, but the move does seem to make sense as it would follow the same pattern that RR took with its larger Phantom range. In any case, we're expecting a production model based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/19/officially-official-rolls-royce-200ex/">200EX concept</a> to bow later this year at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/">Geneva 2009: Rolls-Royce 200EX concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/">Rolls-Royce 200EX concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/01-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/02-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/03-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/04-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/05-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=nl&amp;u=http://autotelegraaf.nl/vanonzeredactie/%3Fnewsid%3D3465801&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3DAutoTelegraaf%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3Dysu">Auto Telegraaf</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/17/rolls-royce-silver-ghost-aka-rr4-to-be-available-in-coupe-con/">Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost (aka RR4) to be available in coupe, convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 17 Mar 2009 17:57:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of RR4 spy shots</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br /><em>Auto Telegraaf</em> reports a tidbit on the coming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/spy-shots-rr4-interior-shows-off-new-steering-wheel-idrive-lik/">Rolls-Royce 4</a> that would make the car something special indeed: it claims the car will cost &euro;380,000. If true, that would make it the second priciest car in the Rolls-Royce line-up, with only the Phantom LWB a scant &euro;20,000 ahead of it. Rolls-Royce CEO Tom Purves did say that the newest model would be "<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/30/first-drive-rolls-royce-phantom-coupe/">more expensive than any Bentley</a>," but we don't think he meant <em>that </em>expensive.<br /><br />The actual price will probably be around half of that, &euro;190,000 in Europe, $250,000 or so in the U.S. In addition to coupe and convertible variants to follow its introduction, the car is slated to fit a wide range of powerplants for a Roller: BMW's V12 and turbocharged V8 are in the picture, and diesel and hybrid lumps are on the table. And soon we won't need to call it by its codename any more; the car is rumored to wear the Silver Ghost moniker.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/">Rolls Royce RR4 - spy shots II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rollsrr4.ld1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rollsrr4.ld2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.stwheel.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int3.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fautotelegraaf.nl%2Fvanonzeredactie%2F%3Fnewsid%3D3128383&amp;sl=nl&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">Auto Telegraaf</a> (translated) via <a href="http://www.globalmotors.net/more-details-on-the-rolls-royce-rr4-silver-ghost/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/more-details-on-380-000-rolls-royce-4/">More details on "?380,000" Rolls-Royce 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 02 Feb 2009 09:58:00 EST. While sales figures currently hover around 1,000 per year for Rolls-Royce, we don't know if the figure he's talking about doubling will include the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/04/geneva-2008-rolls-royce-phantom-coupe-a-real-gt/">Phantom Coupe</a>, which goes on sale later this year. The RR4 -- the baby Phantom's code name for now -- will share a platform with the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/04/rumormill-2009-bmw-7-series-coming-july-7th/">7-Series</a> and is expected to give the scales a workout at 5,000-plus pounds. <br /><br />The engine choice is still a mystery. Some speculate that there will be a twin-turbocharged version of BMW's 4.4-liter V8. However, Robertson has said that Rolls-Royce engines will remain unique to Rolls-Royce, in which case a 12-cylinder motor, unshared with any BMW product and smaller than the Phantom's, has been suggested. And in a nod to green, a diesel option is being floated after the car's introduction.<br /><br />The car with which the RR4 will compete, Bentley's Continental Flying Spur, has suffered no ill-will for using a VW engine in its Continental series, so perhaps Rolls-Royce will be more welcoming of BMW power when the time comes. The new Rolls is expected to be priced between $250,000 and $300,000, which is considered "entry-level" for this brand.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/low/">Rolls-Royce RR4 sketches</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/p0045982-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/p0045981-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/baby-rolls-royce-spy-shots/low/">Rolls Royce RR4 - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/baby-rolls-royce-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/00_babyrollsroycea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/baby-rolls-royce-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01_babyrollsroycea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/baby-rolls-royce-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02_babyrollsroycea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/baby-rolls-royce-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/03_babyrollsroycea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/baby-rolls-royce-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/04_babyrollsroycea_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Souces: <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/news/sedans/new-details-on-rolls-royces-upcoming-rr4-sedan/">Motor Authority</a> and <a href="http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/06/11/2010-rolls-royce-rr4-to-get-x6s-v8-twin-turbo/#more-21814">eGM Car Tech</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/12/rolls-royce-expects-rr4-to-more-than-double-sales-might-get-twi/">Rolls-Royce expects RR4 to more than double sales, might get twin-turbo V8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 12 Jun 2008 16:01:00 EST. Some 6,000 Silver Ghosts were produced from 1907 to 1925 , and as you can see in the photo at right (click it to enlarge), they varied greatly in style. We're completely smitten with the wood-bodied boattail behind the group of owners in the middle of the photo (we zoomed in on it in the photo gallery below). <br /><br />To celebrate the Silver Ghost's 100th anniversary, Rolls-Royce is producing a highly-limited run of commemorative Phantoms. Gatti in London on April 24th. From there the 1911 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, Chassis No. 1574 was sold several times, including to Millard Newman in Florida, who had it meticulously restored and added to his collection. After Newman's death, the car's new owner put it through another extensive restoration, won several Concours awards, then brought it to Arizona where it was auctioned for $725,000, Friday. It was by far the best-preserved and most beautiful of three super rare Silver Ghosts auctioned at RM.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Make the jump to check out the two other Rollers that left the auction block.</span><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/low/">2007 RM Auction, Scottsdale: 3 Rolls-Royce 40/50HP Silver Ghosts</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lot264_rr_silver_ghost_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lot264_rr_silver_ghost_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lot264_rr_silver_ghost_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lot264_rr_silver_ghost_6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/lot264_rr_silver_ghost_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/20/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2007 RM Auction, Scottsdale: 3 Rolls-Royce 40/50HP Silver Ghosts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/20/2007-rm-auction-scottsdale-3-rolls-royce-40-50hp-silver-ghosts/">2007 RM Auction, Scottsdale: 3 Rolls-Royce 40/50HP Silver Ghosts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 20 Jan 2007 12:24:00 EST.
