<div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><small>2010 Saab 9-5 - click above for high-res image gallery</small></em></strong></div>
<br />
Here's a little bit more on the salvation/debacle of Saab. First of all, it should be pointed out that after our last <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/10/report-spyker-takes-the-lead-in-the-saab-bidding-sweepstakes/">report about Holland's Spyker trying to buy Saab</a>, the <strike>freaks</strike> lovely people over at <a href="http://www.saabsunited.com/">Saabs United</a> pointed out some <strike>gaping holes in our reporting</strike> an inconsistency or two with the <em>Reuters</em>/our version of the facts. As such, we've gone ahead and vetted the information we're using for this post with the brain trust over at Saabs United. Hey, they really like Saabs, what can we say? And now, on to the story.<br />
<em><br />
<a href="http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20091213/OEM/312139992/1193">Automotive News</a></em> is reporting that China's <span id="autonewsGraf1">Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Company (BAIC) has reached a deal with General Motors to acquire the tooling for both the Saab 9-3 and 9-5. Not so fast, says Saab's United! What they actually acquired is the tooling for the <em>old</em> 9-5, as well as the stuff for the pre-2006 9-3. Sort of a big difference, as obviously Saab's just getting geared up to roll out the all new 9-5 - and whomever winds up buying Saab will most likely want to offer both it and the existing 9-3 and its derivatives. Spyker's CEO Victor Muller confirms the BAIC deal is for "old equipment" and goes on to characterize the BAIC deal as, "Good news."<br />
<br />
Then there's a bunch of no commenting. Obviously, General Motors has no comment on anything, though they do say that once a deal is reached they will say something. As far as we can tell, the pending Spyker deal is still a definite maybe. BAIC could not be reached to make a "no comment," and Saab's Eric Geer's stated, "</span>We can't comment on anything about the sales process." Though our Saabs United source does provide us with a juicy tidbit, "[Geer's] wife is Saab's head legal counsel so he's like the canary in the coal mine. If he ever resigns suddenly..."<span id="autonewsGraf1"> <br />
<br />
So there you have it - Saab's future is still totally up in the air. Though our source says that in addition to the 9-5 sedan, there's a 9-5 wagon (SportCombi) that's "pretty much ready to go" as well as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/saab+9-4x">9-4x</a> which has, "</span>been ready for about a year but Caddy had to get the SRX out first." Plus, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/04/report-saab-in-expansionist-mood-plots-own-9-3-replacement/">new 9-3</a> is being worked on. <span id="autonewsGraf1">And one more thing - Saabs United is reporting that a <a href="http://www.saabsunited.com/2009/12/swedish-group-interested-in-saab-automobile-acquisition.html">Swedish group</a> (not Renco) is also in talks with GM, in addition to the Spyker deal. We'll keep you posted. <br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Saab 9-X Air BioHybrid Concept - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
The talk has begun: last week the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/27/swedish-report-says-koenigsegg-wants-to-sell-fewer-saabs-for-mor/">outlines of Koenigsegg's intent for Saab</a> was publicized, now the sports car company is flapping their jibs to back it up. The 9-5 and 9-4X that GM developed will be arriving shortly, and behind those is the 9-5 SportCombi. The gem for Saab fans is the mention of a redesigned 9-3, and perhaps a 9-1 and 9-2.<br />
<br />
That 9-3 might even make a return to the days of quirky, since it is "<span id="intelliTXT"><span id="ctl00_ctl06_ctl00_lblArticle" style="font-size: 12px;" class="linkarticle article_body mgn5_b">more unlikely than likely" that it will be built on a GM platform. In short, Koenigsegg wants to do a clean-sheet design, and that could mean restoring the aura of the Saab 900 </span></span>to the brand's smallest car. That, a huge leap in feel and quality, and the ability to sustain a paucity of sales for a few years just might put a Swedish crown back on the old gal. However, we realize that is asking a lot...<br />
<br />
But going beyond that, Koenigsegg's plan is that the 9-3 wouldn't remain the brand's smallest car for long. A 9-1 or 9-2 that takes inspiration from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/18/paris-preview-saab-unveils-9-x-air-biohybrid-concept/">9-X Air BioHybrid Concept</a> is being considered, which would finally give Saab an entrant in a segment where buyers have proved they are willing to pay a premium for well-done small cars. The test of Koenigsegg's ambition begins now.<br />

The company sold 93,220 cars in 2008, a drop of more than 25% from the previous year, and getting sucked into this year's General Motors saga hasn't exactly helped to create any believers in Saab's return to form.<br /><br />But the quirkier Swedish brand has been taken over by Koenigsegg, and the little company is said to have big plans for the bigger one. Saab's product lineup, as laid out by Swedish car mag <em>Auto Motor &amp; Sport,</em> will have the expected new 9-5 and 9-4 CUV at Frankfurt this year. Next year comes the new 9-5 SportCombi with Start/Stop technology. The two following years will bring the new 9-3 coupe and convertible, a 9-5 crossover, and a little <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&amp;hl=en&amp;js=y&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.automotorsport.se%2Fnews%2F18929%2Fdystert-bokslut-f%25C3%25B6r-saab--men-det-v%25C3%25A4nder%2F&amp;sl=sv&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">9-1 -- rumored to be co-produced with the Mini</a>, sccording to the Swedish buff mag. In 2012, the magazine also predicts a sport hybrid powerplant.<br /><br />The predictions go all the way out to 2017, but it isn't clear how much is pure guesswork versus actual hints from Saab. The magazine, however, suggests there will be some sort of shortened, Aero X coupe-looking thing, a return of the Sonett as a TT-fighter, and the <em>next </em>new 9-5 in 2017.<br /><br />At this point, no one knows what Saab is going to look like a year from now, much less eight. But if Koenigsegg can make it look anything like it does in the <em>Auto Motor &amp; Sport</em> chart - and get the sales to back it up - a lot of people will be very happy about it.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.saabsunited.com/2009/07/ams-chart-saabs-possible-future-model-timeline.html">Saabs United</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/01/charting-out-saabs-coming-model-lineup/">Charting out Saab's upcoming model lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 01 Aug 2009 09:07:00 EST. The Swedish automaker has reportedly flown a number of European journalists to the Saab museum in its home town of Trollhattan, where what appears to be production-ready versions of the new 9-5 in wagon form were covered up with nothing but thin, somewhat translucent covers.<br /><br />Due to the nature of such form-fitting attire, we can clearly see the outline of the brand's familiar front fascia, albeit slightly modified with a more deep-set look than current models. There is also just a hint of headlight trim brightwork, which looks rather subdued when compared to the current 9-5. The rest of the car is much harder to interpret, though we do spot rakish-looking C-pillars that lend further credence to the sedan's expected coupe-like shape.<br /><br />In addition to the 9-5, Saab also kept a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/saab9-4x">9-4x prototype</a> under wraps in its Showroom of the Future. There's not much to glean there, from what we can see the planned CUV shares its basic shape with the Cadillac SRX but at least gets an infusion of Saab-specific DNA in the front fascia. <a href="http://www.saabsunited.com/2009/06/from-the-saab-showroom-of-the-future.html">Click here</a> to see the rest of the spy shots from Saabs United.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.saabsunited.com/2009/06/from-the-saab-showroom-of-the-future.html">Saabs United</a> via <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5286916/2010-saab-9+5-wagon-teases-in-slinky-car-cover">Jalopnik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/11/saab-9-5-semi-revealed-under-form-fitting-cover/">Saab 9-5 semi-revealed under form fitting cover</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 11 Jun 2009 12:59:00 EST. <br />Yesterday, we reported on the fact that General Motors' global sales summary for 2008 included a mention that both the Saab 9-5 and 9-3X would be launching in 2009. We also took note of the fact that the 9-4X was not mentioned anywhere. Saab spokesman Jan-Willem Vester also noticed what we wrote and dropped us a note. Responding to whether Saab might <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/21/gm-confirms-launch-of-saab-9-3x-and-9-5-in-2009/"><em>"just slowly slide off into oblivion,"</em></a> Vester says:<br /><blockquote><em>The word 'oblivion' is certainly not in Saab's vocabulary anytime soon, especially since the Swedish government has proven be to be very supportive of the brand as one of its best known products around the world and a main source of jobs for the region.</em><br /></blockquote>As for the 9-4X, Vester points to the fact that the vehicle is still being tested and regularly caught on camera, including this provided shot taken somewhere in the vicinity of Arjeplog, Sweden. The 9-4X shares its architecture with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/11/detroit-2009-2010-cadillac-srx-live-w-video/">Cadillac SRX</a> and producing it would certainly add to the economies of scale. Based on its size, design and likely powertrains, the 9-4X should certainly be a far better fit in the lineup than the Trailblazer-based 9-7X ever was. <br /><br />Given that GM would apparently like to offload the brand on a new owner and is <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/report-gm-getting-saab-ready-to-stand-alone/">taking steps to make it more autonomous</a>, it certainly makes sense to keep the 9-4X alive, fleshing out the lineup and making for a more appealing purchase. However, with no firm launch date and GM still struggling, the 9-4X's long-term viability may still be in doubt if no one opts to buy Saab.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-testing-in-sweden/low/">Saab 9-4X testing in Sweden</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-testing-in-sweden/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/saab-9-4x-spy-shot_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Saab]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/saab-responds-to-oblivion-comment-for-the-9-4x/">Saab responds to "oblivion" comment for the 9-4X</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 13:29:00 EST. General Motors put the marque up for strategic review last Fall and it was not listed among the company's core brands when it submitted its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/02/gm-asks-congress-to-kickstart-its-heart-with-ambitious-plan/">viability plan</a> to the U.S. Congress in December. With many of its new model introductions being delayed this year, one has to wonder if Saab will just slowly slide off into oblivion. Given the seeming absence of anyone willing to step up and buy the Swedish automaker, that may yet happen. <br /><br />Before that time, though, Saab dealers in Europe will get at least two additions to their product lineup. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/26/spy-shots-saab-9-3x-crossover-thingy-caught/">9-3X</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/20/spy-shots-is-this-the-next-saab-9-5/">recently spied 9-5</a> are listed among new European introductions confirmed for 2009 in a new company press release. That news nugget came buried in a missive about The General's global sales for 2008. As far as we know, the <a href="http://www.trollhattansaab.net/archives/2008/11/spyshots-the-saab-9-3x-appears.html">9-3X is basically a higher riding version of the 9-3 wagon, &agrave; la Subaru Outback</a>. It will probably use a variant of the Haldex XWD system seen on the Turbo-X. The 9-5, of course, is an Epsilon II based replacement for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/14/detroit-2009-saab-9-5-griffin-edition-is-an-excuse-to-issue-a-p/">long-lived Saab flagship</a> of the same name. No mention was made of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/spy-shots-saab-9-4/">9-4X</a> crossover that shares its platform with the new Cadillac <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/11/detroit-2009-2010-cadillac-srx-live-w-video/">SRX</a>. That vehicle has likely been delayed until at least 2010, if it hasn't been canceled altogether. If things go as originally planned, it will go into production in about a year. Up front is pure Saab, the rear hatch couldn't say SportCombi more forcefully, and the sloping shoulder line and window profile are 9-5. It's supposed to go into production in about a year, but hopefully we'll get to see it in Detroit in a few weeks since who knows where things will be a year from now.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/2010-saab-9-4x-spotted-without-all-the-camouflage/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/spy-shots-saab-9-4/">Spy Shots: Saab 9-4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 13 Dec 2008 15:06:00 EST. This offroadier 9-3 <strike>wagon</strike> SportCombi derivative has a raised suspension, "skid-plates" and extra cladding, plus jumbo exhaust tips to give it a more butch look. Looks like the Outback craze continues unabated. As we've told you before, the 9-3X will differ a bit from other 9-3s in its focus. Saab's Haldex drivetrain has shown itself to be a hoot to drive, which we noted when we sampled the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/09/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-saab-turbo-x/">Turbo X</a>. Unlike the performance-oriented Turbo X, however, the 9-3X will use its Haldex AWD system for tackling trenches rather than twisties, offering its owners the security to tackle snow, potholes and black ice. It looks like it's going to be a busy 2009 for Saab, with the pending <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/17/la-preview-saab-9-4x-shows-up-early/">9-4X</a>, tweaks to the 9-5 and now the 9-3X. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.trollhattansaab.net/archives/2008/11/spyshots-the-saab-9-3x-appears.html">TrollhattanSaab.net</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/26/spy-shots-saab-9-3x-crossover-thingy-caught/">Spy Shots: Saab 9-3X crossover-thingy caught</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Nov 2008 15:29:00 EST. Features like the converging window lines on the side, the rear lights, and the Saab grille, give away its lineage. From the side, especially from the A-pillar back, you could be forgiven for confusing the Saab with a lot of other CUVs, while lines that are quite distinctive on the smaller 9-3 and 9-5 look to have been stretched into rather bland expanses on the 9-4X. It's still early, so we look forward to seeing the fully Saab-ified retail version. If Saab's managing director is to be believed, what won't be bland is one of the engine choices: a diesel with 250 hp and 406 lb-ft. That's the kind of quirky we can get behind. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.leftlanenews.com/saab-9-4x.html">Left Lane News</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/spy-shots-saab-9-4x-almost-naked/">Spy Shots: Saab 9-4X, almost naked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 30 Sep 2008 16:29:00 EST. GM's Chilean website had the above photo of the production Saab 9-4X available for all to see earlier today, so now we know the production model looks almost identical to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-live-reveal/">9-4X Biopower concept</a> from last year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>. We'd be interested to see if the concept's integrated tail pipes and large front/side air dams make it to production but, judging from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/08/spy-shots-saab-9-4x/">spy photos</a> we've seen, probably not. The 9-4X will be built on the same platform as the upcoming front- or all-wheel-drive <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/15/cadillac-provoq-concept-evolves-into-2010-srx/">Cadillac SRX</a>, which will also be unveiled this auto show season.<br /><br />We don't have many details on the 9-4X just yet, but it will have a turbocharged 2.0L engine with 245 hp and 265 lb-ft mated to a six-speed automatic. The concept also ran on ethanol, which is also likely for the production vehicle considering that two thirds of all vehicles in Sweden are of the flex fuel variety. Other engine choices could include GM's 3.6L V6, which is likely to be found under hood of the SRX at launch, and an upcoming 250-hp 2.9L diesel. Either way, European customers will likely have an engine lineup twice as large as what we'll be offered in the U.S.<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE: </strong><em>Saab has confirmed that the image above is not the production 9-4X, but rather a creative photoshop of the 9-4X Concept from last year's Detroit Auto Show produced by third-party reps down in Chile. </em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/">Saab 9-4X - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring3.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring4.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring5.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/saab-9-4x-revealed-ahead-of-la-auto-show-debut.html">Motor Authority</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/17/la-preview-saab-9-4x-shows-up-early/">LA Preview: Saab 9-4X shows up early</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 17 Sep 2008 11:58:00 EST. Word is that the newest hauler will have "Saab-DNA design and technology." Designed by teams in Sweden and Germany, that means an Aero-X-like snout, some combi-type curves in the back, and an ascending shoulder line. No word on engines yet, but there looks to be a full range of options, and dealers who have seen the final car are excited. This is all very good news to Saab mavens who don't want another badge-engineered Tahoe. For the rest of us, our first chance to see it could be as soon as the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.nextautos.com/best-look-yet-saab-9-4x-possible-detroit-reveal">Next Autos</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/08/spy-shots-saab-9-4x/">Spy Shots: Saab 9-4X</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 08 Sep 2008 16:34:00 EST. This CUV was first revealed as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/officially-official-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-for-real-this-ti/">9-4X BioPower Concept</a> at the 2008 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Detroit-Auto-Show/">Detroit Auto Show</a>, and as you can see from the spy shots in our gallery, the production version will be very similar to what we saw on stage in January. The Swedish designers even retained the sloping roof that begins its descent all the way up front at the a-pillars.<br /><br />The 9-4X is based on a heavily modified version of GM's Theta platform that also incorporates elements of the company's Epsilon 2 platform, effectively making it a unique chassis on which only this CUV and the upcoming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/detroit-2008-the-cadillac-provoq-shows-its-face-in-the-midwest/">Cadillac Provoq</a> CUV <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/17/saab-9-4x-to-share-a-platform-with-new-compact-cadillac-cuv/">will be based</a>. We know the 9-4X will be offered with Saab's new XWD all-wheel-drive system, and engine choices should be similar to the rest of Saab's range and include turbocharged four- and six-cylinder motors. (Yes, the 9-7X SUV is offered with a naturally aspirated six- and eight-cylinder engine, but that doesn't count.) Since the 9-4X will also be sold globally, we're hoping the U.S. market gets a diesel version, as well. Brenda Priddy hints that a 250-horsepower diesel is in the works. Okay, Saab. Now you've got our attention.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/">Saab 9-4X - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring3.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring4.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/saab9-4x.ring5.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Photos: Brian Williams for Brenda Priddy &amp; Company]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/11/spy-shots-saab-9-4x-prototype-caught/">Spy Shots: Saab 9-4X prototype caught</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 11 Apr 2008 15:59:00 EST. The CUV drove onto the stage under a shake of fake snow and out popped two dolled up ski bunnies (well, one bunny and a hare, as it were). <br /><br />We <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/officially-official-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-for-real-this-ti/">already know</a> pretty much everything there is to know about this car, but it's worth repeating that this concept gets 245 hp and 353 Nm of torque (at 2500-5250 rpm) on gasoline versus 300 horses and 400 Nm (at 2600-5100 rpm) on delicious ethanol. Put gasoline in the tank and you can go 22.4 miles to the gallon (ethanol mpg was not disclosed, but it'll be less). A CUV very much like the 9-4X Concept, Saab's first, will likely be coming in 2009, so get ready to stick your skis into your biofuel car and hit the slopes. Video of the 9-4X unveiling is available after the jump.<br /><br />Read more at <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-live-reveal/">AutoblogGreen</a>. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-concept-live-reveal/low/">Detroit 2008: Saab 9-4X Concept live reveal</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/img_1028_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/img_1029_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/img_1035_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/img_1037_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-concept-live-reveal/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/img_1038_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-1/low/">Detroit 2008: Saab 9-4X BioPower Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/x08cc_sb001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/x08cc_sb002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/x08cc_sb003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_sb004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/x08cc_sb005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-live-reveal/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit 2008: Saab 9-4X BioPower Concept live reveal</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-saab-9-4x-biopower-concept-live-reveal/">Detroit 2008: Saab 9-4X BioPower Concept live reveal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 13 Jan 2008 15:20:00 EST. It's the Saab BioPower 9-4X, and a Dutch outlet has seen fit to release these lowish-res images of the CUV a bit early. We think it's a CUV because the popularity of the SUV is waning (Ford's switching the Explorer from its body-on-frame SUV roots to a CUV compliant unibody, for Pete's sake), and Saab's done the whole SUV thing already with its rebadged (although nicely) version of the Chevy Trailblazer called the 9-7X. Regardless, the 9-4X is destined for production probably later this year. The Concept is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder enginer, typical Saab fare, that produces 245 HP/260 ft. lb. of torque on gas and 300 HP/295 ft. lb. of torque on ethanol. There's also an intelligent all-wheel-drive system that can split power between the front and rear axles, as well as between each side of the rear axle depending on which needs it most. Stay tuned this Sunday when the Detroit Auto Show officially begins for us and we'll find out more.<br /><br />[Source: World Car Fans, <a href="http://www.trollhattansaab.net/archives/2008/01/saab-9-4x-concept-first-pics.html">Trollhattan Saab</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-concept-leaked-photos/low/">Saab 9-4X Concept - leaked photos</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-concept-leaked-photos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/9080108.005.mini1l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-concept-leaked-photos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/9080108.005.mini2l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-concept-leaked-photos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/9080108.005.mini3l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/saab-9-4x-concept-leaked-photos/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/9080108.005.mini4l_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/detroit-08-preview-saab-9-4x-biopower-leaked/">Detroit '08 Preview: Saab 9-4X BioPower leaked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 08 Jan 2008 08:36:00 EST.
