<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/">Honda</a> has pulled back the covers on what we can expect to see at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/tokyo auto salon/">2013 Tokyo Auto Salon</a>, including what looks to be an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/honda s2000/">S2000</a> refresh some four years after the convertible left production. The S2000 Modulo Climax is an "exhibition model" based on the old roadster, but features updated front and rear fascias as well as an interior trimmed out in black and burgundy. Beyond that, details are scarce as hen's teeth.<br />
<br />
Honda will also show off a number of vehicles based on the N-One mini, including the <a href="http://wwww.autoblog.com/tag/n-one/">N-One Modulo Style</a>, Mugen Racing N-One Concept and an N-One worked up by the Japan Nailist Association. That last creation features plenty of rhinestone decoration. (We wish we were joking.) <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/mugen/">Mugen</a> will also display a tarted-up <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/cr-z/">CR-V</a> Design Study as well as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/honda/cr-z/">CR-Z Mugen RZ</a>: a 300-unit specialty vehicle.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the manufacturer's motorcycle arm will show off the Goldwing F6B, previously seen at EICMA 2012 as well as the CB1300 Super Four Special Edition and the NC700X. The automaker will also pepper its stand with a few of its racing machines for the public to enjoy. Check out the <a href="/2012/12/27/hondas-slate-for-tokyo-auto-salon-includes-s2000-revival-many/#continued">full press release below</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/27/hondas-slate-for-tokyo-auto-salon-includes-s2000-revival-many/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda's slate for Tokyo Auto Salon includes S2000 revival, many Mugens</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/27/hondas-slate-for-tokyo-auto-salon-includes-s2000-revival-many/">Honda's slate for Tokyo Auto Salon includes S2000 revival, many Mugens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 27 Dec 2012 11:25:00 EST. <br />
Last week, we were able to bring you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/21/peugeot-teases-paris-bound-208-type-r5-rally-car/">all of the details</a> regarding Peugeot's new 208 Type R5 rally car, but there was only a shadowy teaser image with which to illustrate the pre-production rally titan.<br />
<br />
Thankfully, with our meticulous shooters combing the floor, we now have a good long look at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/peugeot/">Peugeot</a> 208 R5, which the French automaker confirms will race next year in series like the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, European Rally Championship and the National Championships.<br />
<br />
The 208 R5 is, of course, just as racy as we'd hoped, with a wheels-at-the-absolute-corners stance, huge white shoes wearing hometown <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/michelin/">Michelin</a> rubber, a sizable rear wing and sporty graphics as far as the eye can see. Don't get used to seeing it in quite so gleaming a shade of white, however, as this one little guy is destined to get dirty, fast.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/28/peugeot-208-type-r5-rally-car-looks-fast-sitting-still/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Peugeot 208 Type R5 rally car looks fast sitting still</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/28/peugeot-208-type-r5-rally-car-looks-fast-sitting-still/">Peugeot 208 Type R5 rally car looks fast sitting still</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 28 Sep 2012 19:30:00 EST. <br />
Peugeot's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/paris-motor-show">Paris Motor Show</a> stand will need to make room for yet another addition, with the pre-production <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/208">208</a> Type R5 rally car slotted in for an appearance. The successor to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/207">207</a> Super 2000 that has won six Intercontinental Rally Challenge titles, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/peugeot/">Peugeot</a> calls the tubular-framed 208 R5 a "true competition wildcat" for asphalt and gravel stages that will go on sale toward the end of 2013, to teams competing in IRC and national rallies.<br />
<br />
Many of the specs carry over due to category requirements of the S2000 class, so the 208 Type R5 will have a five-speed sequential gearbox putting power through two locking differentials but no center diff, to all four wheels and supported by a long travel suspension. The 1.6-liter THP engine from the 207 S2000 also makes the jump, but the four-cylinder, 16-valve motor will output 280 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Four-pot calipers are mounted at all four wheels, hiding behind 18-inch wheels for tarmac stages and 15-inchers on gravel, while minimum weight for any setup on the Type R5, as per FIA regulations, will be 1,200 kilograms.<br />
<br />
Peugeot hasn't revealed the price, but again, per the FIA, the maximum price allowed is &euro;180,000 ($232,807 U.S.) before taxes. There's a press release <a href="/2012/09/19/peugeot-teases-paris-bound-208-type-r5-rally-car/#continued">below</a> with more details, click on the photo above for a high-res glimpse, and we'll be sure to find out more once we get to Paris.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/21/peugeot-teases-paris-bound-208-type-r5-rally-car/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Peugeot teases Paris-bound 208 Type R5 rally car</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/21/peugeot-teases-paris-bound-208-type-r5-rally-car/">Peugeot teases Paris-bound 208 Type R5 rally car</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 21 Sep 2012 14:01:00 EST. <br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/lada">Lada</a>? Racing? We've got to be kidding, right? Only we're not. While the Russian automaker may not have the motorsport pedigree of, say, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ferrari">Ferrari</a> or <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche">Porsche</a>, there's reason enough to believe it's getting serious.<br />
<br />
One reason is its new corporate cousins at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/renault">Renault</a>-<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan">Nissan</a> Alliance, which owns part of Lada's parent company <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/avtovaz">AvtoVaz</a> and which never fails to get each of its divisions - from Renault in Formula One to Nissan in GT racing to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dacia">Dacia</a> in the Andros Trophy - on the track. Another is its history, however limited it may be, of competition in the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wtcc">World Touring Car Championship</a>. Lada was contesting the WTCC just a couple of years ago, and in announcing the arrival of the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/28/lada-steps-out-of-the-cold-war-era-with-new-granta-budget-seda/">Granta</a>, confirmed that it would be making a comeback. And this is the car with which it'll do it.<br />
<br />
Called the Granta Sport, this adaptable racer will form the basis for a number of racing categories. One is the WTCC, which Lada will contest this year at two rounds (Hungary and Portugal) with an eye towards expanding to a full-season challenge in 2013. Another is the Granta Cup, a one-make racing series which Lada will field in Russia. Finally, an S2000-compliant version is reportedly in the works that would let privateer teams enter the Granta Sport in any of a number of racing series around the world.<br />
<br />
Aside from the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Sebring#Coupe_.281995.E2.80.932000.29">1995 Chrysler Sebring coupe</a> calling to ask for its fake plastic grille back, few details are available as to the Granta Sport's technical specifications, but we have the distinct feeling that Renaultsport has had a hand in its development. One way or another, you can scope out the high-res images in the gallery for a closer look.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/05/lada-gears-up-for-racing-campaign-with-new-granta-sport/">Lada gears up for racing campaign with new Granta Sport</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 07:59:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>Skoda Fabia S2000 - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
Of all the names you might associate with rallying - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/lancia">Lancia</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/audi">Audi</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/subaru">Subaru</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/mitsubishi">Mitsubishi</a> - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/skoda">Skoda</a> might not rank all that high, but they probably should. The Czech automaker took home <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/11/skoda-celebrates-irc-victory-with-special-edition-fabia-rs/">top honors</a> in this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/irc">Intercontinental Rally Challenge</a>, and on the back of its success, is graduating to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wrc">World Rally Championship</a>.<br />
<br />
Well, almost. Skoda won't be competing next season in the top class of the WRC, but will be taking its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/13/blank-czech-skoda-fabia-s2000/">Super 2000-spec Fabia</a> to the S-WRC. The new category inaugurated for the 2010 season allows Super 2000 cars to compete against each other on the top rally stages in the world.<br />
<br />
Teaming up with Red Bull, Skoda will have two teams in the S-WRC class next season: one factory outfit and another privateer entry fielded by Baumschlager Rally Racing. Parallel to the world titles which Red Bull Racing took home this year in Formula One, the Red Bull Rally Team took top honors in the inaugural S-WRC standings. Teamed up with Skoda, they could have a dynamite combination on their hands. Details in the press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/27/skoda-graduates-to-wrc-with-super-2000-fabia/#continued">after the jump</a>.<br />

Both of those vehicles are dead and gone now, but a report from <em>Motor Trend</em> posits that Honda could be working on a way to replace both vehicles in one tidy (and presumably, fun-to-drive) little package.<br />
<br />
The rumored roadster, which reportedly wouldn't be production-ready until 2014, would utilize a subframe with a mid-engine layout for optimum weight distribution. If this exciting-sounding ride is indeed in utero, the big question would surround the avenue Honda would choose for propulsion. Options include a small, possibly boosted gasoline motor, a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/cr-z">CR-Z</a>-like hybrid and possibly even an electric-only solution. All three options would likely be relatively efficient due to the roadster's small stature, but <em>MT</em> points out that a gas-only option could limit the vehicle's international appeal. <br />
<br />
A mixture between a Beat and an S2000 sounds great to us, but is there any proof that such a vehicle is under development? The magazine did some digging and discovered a Honda patent pending in Japan for a subframe vehicle with an "engine being fitted to a center frame." Add to that the fact that last year we heard rumblings of a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/16/the-beat-goes-on-honda-reportedly-looking-at-successor-to-kei-r/">next-generation Beat</a> that looks a lot like the rendering above, and we could finally be looking at a fun new Honda by mid-decade. <br /> It's been ten years since Honda released the S2000 to celebrate its golden anniversary, but since Autoblog's inception, we have somehow never managed to publish a proper review of the high-revving roadster. With the final S2000 having rolled off the line on August 7, we figured it was time to make amends and get some serious seat time in one of the few pure sports cars left in existence.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-honda-s2000">Review: 2009 Honda S2000</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/hondas2000---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="hondas2000---01" title="hondas2000---01" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/hondas2000---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="hondas2000---02" title="hondas2000---02" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/hondas2000---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="hondas2000---03" title="hondas2000---03" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/hondas2000---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="hondas2000---04" title="hondas2000---04" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/hondas2000---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="hondas2000---05" title="hondas2000---05" /></a></div><br /> <em><strong><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/01/review-2009-honda-s2000-is-a-champ-to-the-end/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Review: 2009 Honda S2000 is a champ to the end</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/01/review-2009-honda-s2000-is-a-champ-to-the-end/">Review: 2009 Honda S2000 is a champ to the end</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 11:56:00 EST. <br /> This European Honda S2000 roadster has been subjected to a rather controversial-looking widebody conversion that replaces the Japanese design's crisp lines with an amalgam of shapes and ideas. The front end receives headlamps that may or may not have been borrowed from a Mercedes-Benz SLK and the car's entire aesthetic has been radically altered - even the closer-to-stock rear end has a bigger bumper and spoiler. <br /><br />It isn't clear if this is a one-off job or if it's a kit that we haven't seen before, but our part, we'll stick with Honda's design, thank you very much. However, should you live in Belgium and feel differently, it's up for sale online for 25,000 euros, or about $36k in American greenbacks. The party continues in the gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-widebody-honda-s2000">Custom widebody Honda S2000</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-widebody-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/01-s200wide_thumbnail.jpg" alt="01-s200wide" title="01-s200wide" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-widebody-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/00-s200wide_thumbnail.jpg" alt="00-s200wide" title="00-s200wide" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-widebody-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/02-s200wide_thumbnail.jpg" alt="02-s200wide" title="02-s200wide" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-widebody-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/03-s200wide_thumbnail.jpg" alt="03-s200wide" title="03-s200wide" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-widebody-honda-s2000/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/04-s200wide_thumbnail.jpg" alt="04-s200wide" title="04-s200wide" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.vlanauto.be/en/second-hand-car/Honda/S2000/S_2000wyde_body-2921882-for-sale?id=2921882&amp;zid=185136&amp;cc=11">Vlanauto.be</a> via <a href="http://www.bespokeventures.com/blog/2009/08/29/only-in-europes2000-widebody-conversion-with-european-taste/">The Real JDM</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/31/honda-s2000-gets-bizarre-custom-european-widebody-conversion/">Honda S2000 gets bizarre custom European widebody conversion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 31 Aug 2009 14:29:00 EST. According the <em>Best Car</em>, the rear-wheel drive roadster's replacement will likely ditch Honda's high-revving F20C in favor of the second-generation hybrid drivetrain slated to be fitted to the Accord, and further, the gasoline-electric mill will be driving the front wheels.<br /><br />Although we've been hearing rumors about the S2000's successor for a few years, Honda hasn't provided any indication about if and where the new model is headed. <em>Best Car</em> contends that the new convertible - likely to be fitted with a retractable hard-top - will slot in above the all-new Honda CR-Z due to debut in production form at this year's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/TokyoMotorShow/">Tokyo Motor Show</a>. If that's the case, we suspect the next S2000 will be marketed as more of a boulevard cruiser than a back-road bomber, and that could mean that it might be sold as an Acura if it arrives in the States at all. If it does land here badged as a Honda, might we suggest calling it Del Sol instead?<br /><br />[Source: Best Car via <a href="http://www.7tune.com/new-hybrid-fwd-honda-s2000-due-in-2012/">7Tune</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/rumormill-front-wheel-drive-hybrid-honda-s2000-replacement-com/">Rumormill: Front-wheel drive, hybrid Honda S2000 "replacement" coming in 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 14:27:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Lars Martensson's Honda S2000 concept - click above for a high-res gallery</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />Late yesterday, we showed you the handiwork of 3D rendering guru Lars Martensson (a.k.a. 'GRID'), who had applied his skills to a future vision of a new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/27/subaru-hire-him-next-gen-wrx-sti-is-independently-rendered-awe/">Subaru WRX STI</a>. Today, we bring you the skilled Swede's take on what a next-generation Honda S2000 roadster might look like.<br /><br />While this concept has no basis in reality (and rumors of an S200 successor have thus far amounted to nothing), as with the Subie, we find a lot of merit in what we see. Click on the gallery below to see if you don't agree.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/martensson-honda-s2000-concept">Martensson Honda S2000 Concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/martensson-honda-s2000-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/martensson-s2000-concept-lead_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/martensson-honda-s2000-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/martensson-s2000-concept--(1)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/martensson-honda-s2000-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/martensson-s2000-concept--(2)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/martensson-honda-s2000-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/martensson-s2000-concept--(3)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/martensson-honda-s2000-concept/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/martensson-s2000-concept--(4)_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.3dluvr.com/content/">3DLuvr</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/28/grid-iron-honda-s2000-successor-independently-rendered/">GRID Iron: Honda S2000 successor independently rendered</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 12:29:00 EST. The latest Honda rumor originating from the homeland is that the company could be working on a car that will replace the S2000 more in spirit than in configuration. <br /><br />The purported coupe is said to be a 2+2 and more powerful than the CR-Z, with all four wheels driven through a variant of Honda's SH-AWD system. It might also be a hybrid. Rumors of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/04/honda-s2000-successor-being-discussed-may-seat-four/">an S2000 successor</a> in some guise - even <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/01/honda-s2000-successor-the-apple-falls-far-from-the-tree/">as a front-wheel drive Acura</a> - have been around for a couple of years now, and they probably won't stop until we actually get one. But you'll never hear us complain about Honda's entry into powerful little hybrid all-wheel drive sports cars - as long as it doesn't look like the bastardized rendering of a Mitsubishi Eclipse you see pictured.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/05/honda-s2000-successor-rumored-to-get.html">Carscoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/26/rendered-speculation-honda-s2000-successor-rumored-to-get-hybri/">Rendered Speculation: Honda S2000 successor rumored to get hybrid power, AWD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 26 May 2009 10:57:00 EST. It's only been four months since <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/suzuki-suspends-wrc-program/">Suzuki announced it was leaving the World Rally Championship</a>, but reports are already surfacing about its comeback. Suzuki's decision came amidst a whole slew of similar announcements, primarily from Japanese automakers, to cancel their racing programs. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/05/officially-official-honda-exits-f1-before-2009-season/">Honda pulled out of F1</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/16/officially-official-subaru-leaving-world-rally-championship/">Subaru out of the WRC</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/04/mitsubishi-pulls-out-of-dakar-and-other-cross-country-races/">Mitsubishi out of rally raids</a>... even <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/31/kawasaki-to-withdraw-from-motogp/">Kawasaki dropped their motorbike team</a>. But while Honda is undoubtedly kicking itself for leaving the grand prix scene one season too early, it could be Suzuki that gets back into the race first.<br />
<br />
The reports come from the mouth of Urmo Aava, one of Suzuki's most valued rally drivers. Since the Japanese carmaker withdrew from the top-level series, he's been helping the junior team with set-up for the Suzuki Swift S1600, but the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/wrc-switching-to-s2000-spec-car-for-2010-season/">planned switch next season to the more production-car-based S2000 formula</a> in the top-tier WRC could open the door to more automakers like Suzuki coming back to the fold, or entering for the first time. Like the one which Suzuki was campaigning until last season (pictured above), the new car would be based on the SX4, but cost less to campaign. For his part, Aava realizes he'd need to bring in his own sponsorship cash to make it happen, but if it does, Suzuki could be kickin' gravel and jumping hills by 2011. <em>Thanks to Eralp for the tip!</em><br />

<br />With the announcement that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/26/officially-official-honda-s2000-to-be-terminated-at-the-end-of/">Honda S2000 will cease production after the 2009 model year</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/06/honda-kills-s2000-replacement-v8-program-rwd-acuras/">its successor in doubt</a>, Honda decided to give the high-revving roadster a special send-off before it shuffles off this mortal coil.<br /><br />The Honda S2000 Ultimate Edition retains the 2.0-liter VTEC-equipped four-cylinder putting out 237 hp and 153 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed manual transmission, but benefits from a new set of wheels and an optional hard-top. "Grand Prix White" coats the exterior, while a red leather interior, color-matched stitching and numbered doorsill plaques sets it apart from the standard model. Honda will debut the S2000 Ultimate Edition at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> this March, with sales beginning in Europe shortly thereafter. Honda hasn't announced if the U.S. will get its own version special edition S2000, but if the automaker can save a few bucks that can go towards the development of the new model, we'll be okay with missing out on the "Ultimate."<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-ultimate-edition">Honda S2000 Ultimate Edition</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-ultimate-edition/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/01-honda-s2000-ultimate_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-ultimate-edition/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/02-honda-s2000-ultimate_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-ultimate-edition/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/03-honda-s2000-ultimate_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-ultimate-edition/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/04-honda-s2000-ultimate_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-ultimate-edition/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/05-honda-s2000-ultimate_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/farewell-friend-honda-announces-s2000-ultimate-edition-for-euro/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Farewell, Friend: Honda announces S2000 Ultimate Edition for Europe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/farewell-friend-honda-announces-s2000-ultimate-edition-for-euro/">Farewell, Friend: Honda announces S2000 Ultimate Edition for Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 12:30:00 EST. <br />Detroit's not the only auto show kicking off on January 11. The annual <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/TokyoAutoSalon/">Tokyo Auto Salon</a> (think "Japanese SEMA") also kicks off this Sunday, and Honda has <a href="http://world.honda.com/news/2009/4090107Tokyo-Auto-Salon/">announced</a> the vehicle lineup it'll display at Makuhari Messe. The two headliners are the Sports Modulo S2000 and Fit concepts. The former is a somewhat ghastly take on Honda's two-seat sports car, with a face that belongs in an aquarium and side cladding straight from a '90s Pontiac stylist's wildest fantasies. Inside, the Sports Modulo S2000 Concept is actually very nice, with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009/1262255/">swanky brown leather</a> adorning a variety of surfaces. It still doesn't atone for that clock-stoppingly ugly body kit, though. Read on for some brief commentary on a pair of other concepts headed to the show, and check out the gallery below for the complete model rundown.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009">Honda at Tokyo Auto Salon 2009</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/tas_2009_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Sports Modulo S2000 Concept" title="Sports Modulo S2000 Concept" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/tas_2009_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Sports Modulo S2000 Concept" title="Sports Modulo S2000 Concept" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/tas_2009_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Sports Modulo Fit Concept" title="Sports Modulo Fit Concept" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/tas_2009_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Sports Modulo Fit Concept" title="Sports Modulo Fit Concept" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-at-tokyo-auto-salon-2009/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/tas_2009_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Honda Life Style Study" title="Honda Life Style Study" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/07/honda-unveils-2009-tokyo-auto-salon-lineup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda unveils 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon lineup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/07/honda-unveils-2009-tokyo-auto-salon-lineup/">Honda unveils 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 11:01:00 EST. According to <em>Autocar</em>, HoMoCo is right-sizing its plans for the next two years, and that includes rethinking the development of a range of rear-wheel-drive Acuras, a new V8, a convertible based on the CR-Z and the S2000's successor.<br /><br />Acura seems to be carrying the weight of the bad news, with its RWD 7-series rival, originally due out in 2015, cancelled indefinitely, along with development of a V8 engine that would allow the brand to compete with the best and brightest from Germany. The Euro-market Legend could also be on the block and there's a chance that Honda will stop developing two separate Accord models for sale in the U.S. and abroad, instead opting for one mid-size sedan to be sold worldwide.<br /><br />Unfortunately, the development cease-fire also extends to Honda's smaller offerings. Honda planned to release a drop-top version of its CR-Z after the hybrid goes on sale next year, but that model has been nixed. Even more disturbingly, 2009 will be the last year of production for the S2000, with no heir apparent waiting in the wings.<br /><br />We're hoping to get more details on the cut-backs as the week progresses, but needless to say, there's more than enough disappointment to go around.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle.aspx?AR=236796">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/06/honda-kills-s2000-replacement-v8-program-rwd-acuras/">Honda reportedly kills S2000 replacement, V8 program, RWD Acuras</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 12:58:00 EST. It tolls for Formula 1... and for the World Rally Championship. The FIA has announced that from 2010 the WRC will use <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_2000">Super 2000-spec</a> cars, instead of the current championship's Group N racers. As with the FIA's moves in F1 to standardize components in order to help teams save money, the S2000 cars all have third-party-supplied gearboxes and drivetrains, use 2.0-liter engines with 8,500 rpm rev limits, and are prohibited from being excessively modified (if you have some time, check out the <a href="http://www.fia.com/resources/documents/1623371895__AppJ_Art_254A.pdf">FIA-mandated S2000 specs</a>), among other things. Should manufacturers wish to sell their S2000 cars to privateer teams they can charge no more than &euro;168,000. Five time WRC champion <a href="http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/72197">Sebastien Loeb has spoken out against an S2000 WRC</a>, saying he won't be interested in rallying if the 2010 regs actually take effect. The Group N cars that drivers like Loeb currently pilot will be relegated to the P-WRC come 2010. We'll find out then if Sebastien Loeb goes with them.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=101&amp;id=3526&amp;desc=New%20World%20Rally%20Car%20details%20revealed">WRC</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/wrc-switching-to-s2000-spec-car-for-2010-season/">WRC switching to S2000-spec car for 2010 season</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 13 Dec 2008 16:33:00 EST. The Honda, owned by Ben from Bespoke Ventures and being used as an automotive extra in <em>The Fast and Furious 4</em>, sustained a fair amount of damage to the bumper, right fender and headlamp. There's no word on when Universal is going to be settling its tab for the damages done by Mr. D, but Ben has already got a "<a href="http://www.cafepress.com/therealjdm">Vin Diesel Broke My Car</a>" t-shirt for sale, which should ease the financial burden. That, along with the "<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/29/nissan-gt-r-ownersmanual-warns-of-messing-with-perfection/">Don't tune your GT-R</a>" tee, should complete your summer fashion collection.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.bespokeventures.com/blog/?p=419">TheRealJDM</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/03/vin-diesel-damages-s2000-on-set-of-fandf4/">Vin Diesel damages S2000 on set of F&amp;F4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 03 Apr 2008 18:27:00 EST. <p>Fiat is banking heavy on the re-launch of its historic Abarth tuning brand. It's got several models coming up, including hot versions of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/21/an-eyeful-of-new-fiat-grande-punto-abarth-shots/">Grande Punto</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/23/spy-shots-fiat-500-abarth-scooting-around-the-ring/">500</a>. It's rebranded its S2000 rally racing team under the Abarth name, and has done the same with its sponsorship of Valetino Rossi's championship-winning Yamaha MotoGP bike. There's even talk about a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/02/fiat-may-be-planning-abarth-only-models/">dedicated sports car</a>. </p>
<p>To tie together what is targeted as a blend between its racing prowess and road manners, the Fiat subsidiary has put together this creative little video that reminds us of that golden oldie, "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena". Thankfully they didn't put that into the soundtrack, letting us enjoy the uninhibited roar of the racing engine. Check it out after the jump and remember, "IN RACING WE TRUST!"<br /></p>

As <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/04/new-york-auto-show-hondas-hardcore-s2000-is-a-fitting-send-off/">you've seen before</a>, the S2000 CR nixes the soft top in favor of an aluminum hardtop, and comes equipped with a revised suspension and new aero bits while simultaneously shedding the pounds. If you're not inclined to make the trek to the track sans air conditioning and tunes, they can both be added for an additional $1,000.<br /><br />The new for 2008 S2000 gets redesigned 17-inch wheels, retuned spring and damper rates that improve high-speed stability and steering feel, along with a tire pressure monitoring system and a new instrument cluster with redesigned fuel and temp gauges.<br /><br />Honda's full press release is after the jump, and be sure to check out the S2000 CR's gallery below.<br /><br />[Source: Honda]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer">Honda S2000 Club Racer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_22_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/09/honda-s2000-cr-starting-at-36-300/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Honda S2000 CR starting at $36,300</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/09/honda-s2000-cr-starting-at-36-300/">Honda S2000 CR starting at $36,300</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 09 Oct 2007 16:24:00 EST. A teaser for the S2000 Type-S is now up on the automaker's Japanese website showing the JDM car wearing the same wheels, bodywork, and rear wing as the USDM Club Racer. In contrast to the CR, however, the Type-S appears to have retained its folding soft top. The Club Racer has had that hardware removed for weight reasons and wears a cover with integrated fairings (or a removable aluminum hardtop) instead. You can compare the two cars by looking at the galleries below. The Honda Japan website doesn't give any specific Type-S details at the moment, but we grabbed screenshots of the images made available so far. Expect to see the S2000 Type-S revealed for all next month at the Tokyo Motor Show. <br /><br />[Source: Honda]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-type-s-jdm">Honda S2000 Type-S (JDM)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-type-s-jdm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/honda-s2000-type-s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-type-s-jdm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/s2k_types_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-type-s-jdm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/s2k_types_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-type-s-jdm/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/s2k_types_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer">Honda S2000 Club Racer</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/honda-s2000-club-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/s2k_cr_1280_22_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/honda-s2000-type-s-headed-to-japan/">Honda S2000 Type-S headed to Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 11 Sep 2007 12:19:00 EST.
