<br />
During a product briefing earlier this year, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz">Mercedes-Benz</a> told us that 2013 would be the "year of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/s-class">S-Class</a>." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.<br />
<br />
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/cl-class">CL-Class</a> nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/e-class">E-Class</a> coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/clk-class">CLK-Class</a> designation.<br />
<br />
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/mercedes-benz/cls-class">CLS-Class</a> meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."<br />
<br />
But while 2013 may be the year of the S-Class, that could just be limited to spy shots of the new coupe. The production car may not be shown until sometime in 2014, likely in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show">Geneva</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/19/new-mercedes-benz-s-class-coupe-spied-in-revealing-state-of-dres/">New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 19 Feb 2013 14:01:00 EST. <br />
This week's bag of news is all about cars, cars and cars. Was anyone else aware that the Canadians know a thing or two about tuning Lamborghinis? That's a new one on us. Peugeot and Dodge have new logos, and the Pugs have a new, Ratatouille-esque commercial that involves a blender, a bicycle and a three-wheeled car. The as-yet-unveiled Nissan Patrol Safari gets caught with its doors open, and a bespoke Ferrari, the P450 Superfast Aperta, gets introduced in Florida. It's a little odd. And when some Mercedes engineers get a prototype SL Coupe stuck in the snow and it takes two other Mercedes' to rescue it, let's just say a good time was had by all. Except the Mercedes engineers. Finally, back to those Canadians, while those first lads will get crazy money for their wares, another Canuck wants crazy money for a 1975 Pontiac. Must be the weather. Follow the jump for the feast.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/29/the-autoblog-weekender-motley-fools-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Autoblog Weekender: Motley Fools edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/29/the-autoblog-weekender-motley-fools-edition/">The Autoblog Weekender: Motley Fools edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 29 Jan 2010 21:00:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><em><small>Click above for more rejected renderings of the Mercedes-Benz CLC</small></em></strong><br /></div>
<br />Mercedes-Benz took the easy route when it comes to making its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/27/officially-official-2008-mercedes-benz-clc/">current CLC</a>, using the previous C-Class coupe as a starting point instead of engineering a new entry-level model from the latest C-Class platform. That may be about to change, as <em>CAR</em> is reporting that MB will introduce a proper C-Class coupe to replace the CLC. The new model will ditch the cut-off hind-end of the current car, which isn't quite as pretty as its competition from Audi and BMW. A soft-top convertible is expected to follow a few months after the new 2010 C-Class coupe is introduced.<br /><br />Moving up the Mercedes line, a new E-Class coupe is also in the works to offer a direct competitor to the Audi A5. We wonder if a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/09/paris-2008-preview-mercedes-clk-shooting-brake-concept/">"shooting brake" style hatchback</a> could be offered as well. In any case, the two-door will lose its CLK nomenclature in favor of being known simply as a coupe. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/12/mercedes-cl-and-clk-names-say-auf-wiedesehen/">Also dead</a> is the CL moniker, which will be replaced with an S-Class coupe. In addition to the expected gasoline and diesel-powered models, hybrids are expected to be offered across the entire Mercedes-Benz range in an effort to lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-clc-renderings">Mercedes-Benz CLC renderings</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-clc-renderings/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/nt_clc1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-clc-renderings/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/nt_clc2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-clc-renderings/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/nt_clc3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-clc-renderings/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/nt_clc4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mercedes-benz-clc-renderings/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/nt_clc5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mercedes-benz-clc">2009 Mercedes-Benz CLC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mercedes-benz-clc/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/big_clc_04_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mercedes-benz-clc/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/big_clc_02_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mercedes-benz-clc/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/big_clc_01_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-mercedes-benz-clc/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/54436mer_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/News/Search-Results/Industry-News/Mercedes-coupes-the-next-generation/?content-block=1">CAR</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/15/what-the-future-holds-for-mercedes-benz-coupes/">What the future holds for Mercedes-Benz coupes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 14:58:00 EST. If you want a CLK after 2009, you might have to settle for an E-Class Coupe or E-Class Convertible. Want a 2-door S-Class around the same time? Then you're after the S-Class Coupe. We don't know the reason for the potential name changes, especially since the cars have such great equity -- and taking eight minutes to say E-Class Coupe Black Series doesn't have nearly the to-the-point hotness of CLK Black Series, even though it's the same number of "syllables". The CL change might make more sense as the car wasn't a huge sales success, but drop those letters in conversation and you still get a forceful point across. We can only hope that the bard was right, and that a rose by any other name...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://benzinsider.com/2008/09/mercedes-benz-dropping-the-clk-and-cl-names/">Benz Insider</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/12/mercedes-cl-and-clk-names-say-auf-wiedesehen/">Mercedes CL and CLK names say "Auf wiedesehen..."</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 12 Sep 2008 13:29:00 EST.
