Mustang owners have always had a healthy appetite for the aftermarket, and it looks like the new 5.0 will provide plenty of opportunities for warranty-busting horsepower upgrades. Ford Racing just unveiled its supercharger system good for up to 624 horsepower, and now Roush has introduced its own ROUSHcharger system for the 5.0-liter V8.

The Roush system utilizes the TVS2300 supercharger first seen on the P-51A Mustang (replacing the old Eaton M90-based blower) and requires professional installation and calibration. A 90mm pulley good for seven psi, with 47 lb/hr fuel injectors, high-flow fuel rails and a twin 60mm throttle body included in the kit. Roush says that the system can produce up to 550 horsepower and 470 pound-feet torque with the stock fuel pump, and even more with additional upgrades. Pricing is set at $5,999, and Roush offers a 90-day parts warranty. A full system complete with a Roush calibration and a full warranty will be coming later this fall. Hit the jump for full details on the new ROUSHcharger system for the 2011 Mustang.

We got our first peak at ROUSH's new TVS2300 supercharger system under the hood of the P-51A Mustang last year at SEMA, and we knew it was only a matter of time before they put it on sale as a separate kit. Available in several versions, the upgraded ROUSHcharger can be purchased as a complete kit with all the accessories or as a replacement kit for those with an existing ROUSHcharger system. Depending on its calibration, the upgraded supercharger can produce up to 700 horsepower from the Mustang's 4.6-liter V8. A warrantied version version with a ROUSH-assembled shortblock will be available shortly. Full details can be found in the press release from ROUSH after the jump.

The tinkerers at Roush decided that their current ROUSHcharger didn't provide enough horses for Ford's pony car, so they added another 30 to the corral. Now, for $5,599, the ROUSHcharger increases the HP of your Mustang GT from 300 to 445. That's a 48-percent increase and 30 more horsepower than before due to a smaller, faster-spinning pulley and altered PCM calibration. The result is the aforementioned 445 HP as well as 418 ft-lb of torque.

The add-on will soon be legal for use in all 50 states, and those who already have ROUSHchargers can upgrade by ordering the new pulley for $389. A polished version of the supercharger is also available for $5,899. Installation won't alter the balance of your Ford warranty, which is a bonus, and the supercharger comes with its own year-long coverage if the manufacturer warranty has ended.

If you want one of the two-tone beauties, you'd better get to it, because ROUSH is only building 100 of 'em, and Jack sure sounds like he's going to keep one for himself (see the attached press release). That still leaves 99 cars. The car's two-tone finish features black on top and Torch Red, Redfire, Vista Blue, Silver or Grabber Orange on the lower portion. A pinstripe separates the colors, and the result is very, very good-looking.

All cars also feature a Roush light bar, lowered suspension, and 20" wheels. Buyers can give their Roadsters performance to match their appearance by selecting the optional ROUSHcharger upgrade, which bestows the 4.6L V8 with 415-horsepower when mated to a 5-speed manual. Further augmentation in the form of custom interior bits, a short-throw shifter and more can be added to further personalize each car to the owner's tastes.

To the lucky few who'll park one of these sleds in their garage, know that we're painting ourselves a color that's not available for the cars themselves: Envy Green.

Check out the full press release after the jump, and feast your eyes on the Roadster in our gallery.

[Source: ROUSH]

Continue reading ROUSH Roadster: Super-limited, super-cool

ROUSH Roadster: Super-limited, super-cool originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 17 Jan 2007 14:26:00 EST.
