<br />
Rolls-Royce has officially dropped dozens of images and plenty of details on its new "baby" saloon, the Ghost. The new Roller won't be seen publicly for another week, when it'll formally bow in Frankfurt, but we now know that its 6.6-liter V12 generates an impressive 575 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 rpm, along with 563 horsepower in U.S. trim. The 212.6-inch body stretches over a 129.7 inch long wheelbase, and the whole car weighs in at 5,445 pounds unloaded. <br />
<br />
There are no surprises in the styling, which is unchanged from the 200EX concept displayed in Geneva last March. naturally, the Ghost retains the Phantom-style coach doors (don't call them suicide in the presence of a Rolls rep) with built-in umbrellas. Inside, the Ghost carries over additional Phantom quirks, such as the "Power Reserve" gauge the driver gets in lieu of a traditional tachometer. Aside from that, this is clearly more of a driver's car than the Phantom, whose opulent backseat accommodations show that it's more about being driven in. The Ghost's steering wheel is much smaller in diameter and has a thicker rim than its big brother, and the seats appear to have more contouring for lateral support, as well. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but plan on bringing a Halliburton attache case full of cash if you plan on buying one, just to be on the safe side. A video and an exhaustive official press release follows after the jump.<br />

<div align="center"><small><strong><em>Rolls-Royce 200EX - Click above for high-res image gallery</em></strong></small><br /></div>
<br />Despite the fact that Rolls Royce is still calling its 200EX (aka RR4) a concept, the vehicle that debuted at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GenevaMotorShow/">Geneva Motor Show</a> earlier this month is, in reality, a thinly disguised future production model that could possibly revive the Silver Ghost nameplate from the early 1900s. According to the European rumormill, the brand may be considering expanding the new downsized range with coupe and droptop versions that would all be based on the same architecture that's been borrowed from the latest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/23/first-drive-2009-bmw-750li/">BMW 7 Series</a>. <br /><br />We can't speak to the voracity of these rumors, but the move does seem to make sense as it would follow the same pattern that RR took with its larger Phantom range. In any case, we're expecting a production model based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/19/officially-official-rolls-royce-200ex/">200EX concept</a> to bow later this year at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/">Geneva 2009: Rolls-Royce 200EX concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-rolls-royce-200ex-live_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/">Rolls-Royce 200EX concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/01-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/02-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/03-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/04-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-200ex-concept/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/05-rolls-royce-200ex-official_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=nl&amp;u=http://autotelegraaf.nl/vanonzeredactie/%3Fnewsid%3D3465801&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3DAutoTelegraaf%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3Dysu">Auto Telegraaf</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/17/rolls-royce-silver-ghost-aka-rr4-to-be-available-in-coupe-con/">Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost (aka RR4) to be available in coupe, convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 17 Mar 2009 17:57:00 EST. The 200EX will be a new, smaller model to slot in below the current Phantom sedan and coupe, riding on a new platform and with an all-new engine. The underpinnings are believed to be derived from the just launched <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/19/la-2008-2009-bmw-7-series-and-concept-7-series-activehybrid-unv/">7 Series</a> and may be powered by a newly designed V12 engine. If 12 cylinders are employed, the engine will not be a variant of the motor used in the Phantom, but an all-new design.<br /><br />Judging from the teaser, Rolls-Royce is sticking with the lower wider grille look that debuted on the 100EX and then the Phantom coupes and lighting is likely to come from a full LED array rather than the usual xenons. Steel is believed to replace much of the aluminum used in the Phantom for improved durability and a power closing "coach" doors will carry over from the Phantom. We should be seeing more complete photographs and other details of the 200EX in the coming days.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.worldcarfans.com/9090218.040/rolls-royce-200ex-concept-aka-rr4-image-surfaces-before-geneva-debut">World Car Fans</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/19/geneva-preview-rolls-royce-200ex-concept-teaser-surfaces/">Geneva Preview: Rolls-Royce 200EX Concept teaser surfaces</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 19 Feb 2009 10:25:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of RR4 spy shots</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br /><em>Auto Telegraaf</em> reports a tidbit on the coming <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/spy-shots-rr4-interior-shows-off-new-steering-wheel-idrive-lik/">Rolls-Royce 4</a> that would make the car something special indeed: it claims the car will cost &euro;380,000. If true, that would make it the second priciest car in the Rolls-Royce line-up, with only the Phantom LWB a scant &euro;20,000 ahead of it. Rolls-Royce CEO Tom Purves did say that the newest model would be "<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/30/first-drive-rolls-royce-phantom-coupe/">more expensive than any Bentley</a>," but we don't think he meant <em>that </em>expensive.<br /><br />The actual price will probably be around half of that, &euro;190,000 in Europe, $250,000 or so in the U.S. In addition to coupe and convertible variants to follow its introduction, the car is slated to fit a wide range of powerplants for a Roller: BMW's V12 and turbocharged V8 are in the picture, and diesel and hybrid lumps are on the table. And soon we won't need to call it by its codename any more; the car is rumored to wear the Silver Ghost moniker.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/">Rolls Royce RR4 - spy shots II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rollsrr4.ld1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rollsrr4.ld2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.stwheel.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int3.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fautotelegraaf.nl%2Fvanonzeredactie%2F%3Fnewsid%3D3128383&amp;sl=nl&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">Auto Telegraaf</a> (translated) via <a href="http://www.globalmotors.net/more-details-on-the-rolls-royce-rr4-silver-ghost/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/02/more-details-on-380-000-rolls-royce-4/">More details on "?380,000" Rolls-Royce 4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 02 Feb 2009 09:58:00 EST. <br />That treasure trove of appalling autodom described in the most gnarled English imaginable, otherwise known as eBay Motors, serves up today's flavorful morsel of weird and wonderful. Why wait for the upcoming Rolls-Royce <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/RR4/">RR4</a> when you can just throw $50K at this heavily customized Chrysler 300C? It's got the ostentatious grille, the suicide doors, the RR embroidered headrests, but most importantly, a HEMI V8 underhood. HEMI, apparently now transmuted to mean "multi-displacement system," will save you fuel as you rent the car out for the dreamy rate of $750 per day as the seller suggests. At least with a Chrysler lurking underneath all that nasty, you can be assured that repair costs will be nominal compared to the real thing.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fake-rr4/low/">Fake RR4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fake-rr4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/f6ad_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fake-rr4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/f7e9_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fake-rr4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/f908_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fake-rr4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/fa39_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/fake-rr4/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/ff0b_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___CONVERTED-TO-2010-ROLLS-DROPHEAD-PHANTOM-COST-OVER-65K_W0QQitemZ270307980696QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item270307980696&amp;_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&amp;_trkparms=65%3A-2|39%3A1|240%3A1318">eBay Motors</a> via <a href="http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/chrysler-300c-on-ebay-no-its-rolls-royce-rr4/">TTAC</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/26/ebay-find-of-the-day-rolls-royce-rr4-already-for-sale/">eBay Find of the Day: Rolls-Royce RR4 already for sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Nov 2008 18:33:00 EST. <br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/1163324/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int2.kgp.ed_opt.jpg" /></a>Development work continues on the new "entry-level" model inbound from Rolls Royce dubbed the RR4. By "entry level" we mean that the new RR4 will cost a cool $100,000 less than the Phantom, which means we should expect a price tag in the $250,000 - $280,000 range. <br /><br />Spy photographers from KGP have caught a development mule out testing and brought back the first pictures of the RR4's interior. Wood inlay can be seen on the center console and dash, which should be expected for any car costing more than your house. Also snapped were the iDrive-like controller, which we assume will use a reskinned version of the new iDrive system from the 7 Series with a few Rolls-specific tweaks, and the RR4's new steering wheel that features some interestingly integrated switchgear. The RR4 will actually ride on a version of the 2009 BMW 7 Series platform, but don't expect much parts bin sharing between the two in order to keep the Rolls as pure as possible.<br /><br />The RR4 will be aimed squarely at the Bentley Continental Flying Spur and may also spawn a coupe and convertible to compete directly with the Continental GT and GTC, respectively. We expect our first peek at the production version around the time of the Geneva Motor Show in early 2009.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/">Rolls Royce RR4 - spy shots II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rollsrr4.ld1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rollsrr4.ld2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.stwheel.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-spy-shots-ii/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/rr4.int3.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: KGP Photography]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/17/spy-shots-rr4-interior-shows-off-new-steering-wheel-idrive-lik/">Spy Shots: RR4 interior shows off new steering wheel, iDrive-like controller</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 17 Nov 2008 14:58:00 EST. The RR4 won't be coming to market for another two years, but its design is complete and vehicle development and testing is well underway. The marque's Goodwood factory is undergoing renovations that will allow its production lines to accommodate the full Phantom range as well as the new RR4. <br /><br />Based on the sketches, it looks like the RR4 will be retaining the same long-hood, high-beltline proportions as the Phantom series cars. Although rumors have had the RR4 being built on a derivative of the new 7-series platform, Rolls isn't saying anything about that right now. The car will apparently have a unique new engine not shared with any other models. You can read Rolls-Royce's official press release is after the jump.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/low/">Rolls-Royce RR4 sketches</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/p0045982-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/05/p0045981-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rolls-royce-rr4-sketches/826152/">Rolls-Royce</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/27/rolls-royce-releases-official-sketches-of-new-rr4/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rolls-Royce releases official sketches of new RR4</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/27/rolls-royce-releases-official-sketches-of-new-rr4/">Rolls-Royce releases official sketches of new RR4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 27 May 2008 09:54:00 EST. Caught in clear view by KGP photographers, the upcoming "entry level" car by Rolls Royce that's based on the same underpinnings as the next BMW 7-Series looks for all the world like a little <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/01/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-rolls-royce-phantom/">Phantom</a>, just wearing less conspicuous consumption on its sleeve. What we have here is a Rolls Royce that should more of a driver's car than the Phantom, a true chauffeur-driven chariot if ever there was one. Like Bentley has its Continental line for the up and coming super rich who care about driving dynamics more than lineage and pedigree, so too will the RR4 reach out to those who don't care about monolithic grilles (it's still got one as you can see through the covering) and 2-inch thick carpeting. We do notice, however, that the RR4 appears to be sporting rear suicide doors, which is a nice touch that links the smaller car with its big bro'. A range of engines have been rumored that include all manner of V12s and V8s, as well as a diesel. Time will tell, but for now we're day dreaming of an epic comparison test between a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/30/in-the-autoblog-garage-2006-bentley-continental-flying-spur/">Bentley Continental Flying Spur</a> and the RR4.
