9Renault offers shadowy glimpse of F1-influenced electric car concept

Well, what have we here? Truth be told, we're not entirely sure. The teaser image above comes from Renault, and its contents are about as opaque as the message with which it arrives:

AddRenault plugs Twizy EVs into Eiffel Tower, raves it up

If you've been slacking on your doctor-recommended dose of electronic beats and French weirdness, Renault has you covered. The company has turned out a new video for its Twizy pod car featuring a gaggle of youth prowling Parisian streets in the early hours of the morning. The fleet of bizarre-looking Twizy EVs descend on the Eiffel Tower for a quick plug-in just in time for the famous landmark to erupt into its hourly twinkling. AddGhosn says the world will want 500,000 Renault-Nissan electric cars a year by 2020

The way Carlos Ghosn repeatedly touts the benefits of electric vehicles, you'd think he knows something the rest of the industry doesn't. For now, it appears he's right, since sales of the Nissan Leaf continue to be constrained by supply and not demand. What makes the Renault-Nissan CEO endlessly interesting is that he doesn't back off of his stance no matter what's happening in the world. The best response to the earthquake in Japan? EVs. A competitive automotive industry? EVs. Giving the custo

AddFirst production Kangoo Z.E. rolls off the line in France

Today, Renault rolled the first production Kangoo Z.E. off the production line at it's plant in Maubeuge, France. Maubeuge has actually been making the all-electric utility van for about a year, but the 350 or so units that have been made were all sent off for fleet testing and other "how do we actually make an electric van?" projects. To mark the occasion today, both Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn and the French Minister for Industry, Energy and the Digital Economy, Éric Besson, paid a

AddReport: Renault EV espionage scandal may have been hoax

It looks as if Renault and the French government may have been at the raw end of a hoax surrounding claims of corporate espionage. As you may recall, three of the automaker's executives were recently escorted off of the company's headquarters. While none of the individuals were charged with any crime, reports emerged that they were suspected of stealing secrets tied to the French car company's electric vehicle program and selling them to parties overseas. Reports even pointed toward Chinese auto

AddRenault electric vehicle spy case causes "economic war"; China might be involved

The suspensions of three top Renault execs over corporate espionage this week were just the first public hint that something could be seriously wrong inside the French automaker's electric vehicle program. The details are not yet known, but the case has been called the biggest industrial espionage investigation in Renault's history. French industry manager Eric Besson issued a statement saying France is facing an "economic war" over the electric car technology leaks, according to the Guardian. B
