<br />
As a part of the festivities to launch its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/11/29/lamborghinis-aventador-roadster-la-2012/">Aventador Roadster</a> model, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/">Lamborghini</a> has announced that is returning to racing with the new Gallardo GT3 FL2 and its in-house race team, Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The new race-spec <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo/">Gallardo</a>, co-developed with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/reiter+engineering/">Reiter Engineering</a>, will initially compete in motorsports series such as the Italian GT3 Championship, Asia Le Mans Series and the single-make Blancpain Super Trofeo Championship. Additional series will be announced later including races in the US next year - possibly as a part of the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/grand+am/">Grand-Am</a>/<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/american+le+mans+series/">American Le Mans Series</a> series.<br />
<br />
Reiter Engineering has been building racing Lamborghinis since 2000, but this will be the first time it has worked in cooperation with the automaker to create a car.Other than the obvious aero changes such as the front splitter, rear diffuser and massive rear wing, the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 FL2 also received some weight reduction, better brakes and engine cooling and, surprisingly, improved fuel consumption. The car dropped about 55 pounds compared to a standard Gallardo, and since it was designed to compete in endurance races, it was given "24-hour" brakes, although we don't actually know what changes were made.<br />
<br />
Deliveries of the Gallardo GT3 FL2 will begin in March with a starting price of 320,000 euros, or around $430,000. <a href="/2013/01/29/this-is-lamborghinis-evil-looking-new-racecar/#continued">Scroll down</a> for more details about Lambo's newest racer.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/29/this-is-lamborghinis-evil-looking-new-racecar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>This is Lamborghini's evil-looking new racecar</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2013/01/29/this-is-lamborghinis-evil-looking-new-racecar/">This is Lamborghini's evil-looking new racecar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 29 Jan 2013 14:01:00 EST. <br />
Hans Reiter, the chap you might know from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/reiter%20engineering/">Reiter Engineering</a> and its winning <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/">Lamborghini</a> racecars, started a company called Sareni United for one purpose: to build a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/chevrolet/camaro">Chevrolet Camaro</a> GT3 race car. The resulting silver shockwave is powered by a 7.9-liter Katech V8 rated at up to 650 horsepower and 627 pound-feet, and the racer's lead engineer says it has lap times "similar to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Lamborghini Gallardo</a>" but that there is still a lot of work to do.<br />
<br />
More importantly, the plan wasn't to simply make a race-worthy Camaro, the brief was to make one one that was cost efficient enough to lure new entrants into the racing game. Planned overhauls for the engine and gearbox are at 5,000 kilometers and other parts at 10,000 km.<br />
<br />
The Camaro GT3 has been homologated by the FIA, Reiter says two cars are already planned for use in Germany's ADAC GT Masters series and that other inquiries have been made about GT4 and touring cars. It is priced at &euro;195,000 + VAT ($253,056 U.S.).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/03/sareni-uniteds-chevrolet-camaro-gt-turns-pony-car-into-thorough/">Sareni United's Chevrolet Camaro GT turns pony car into thoroughbred</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 03 Jan 2012 11:29:00 EST. <br />
Which is the ultimate iteration of the Lamborghini <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lamborghini/gallardo">Gallardo</a>? Is it the purist's choice, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/26/first-drive-kinda-2010-lamborghini-gallardo-lp550-2-valentino/">Balboni edition</a>? The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/17/2010-lamborghini-gallardo-lp-570-4-superleggera-first-drive/">LP570-4 Superleggera</a>? Or the latest open-top <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/17/lamborghini-gallardo-spyder-performante-crashes-the-party-in-la/">Spyder Performante</a>? The answer could very well be track-bound, and you're looking at it right now.<br />
<br />
The latest race-spec Gallardo developed by <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/lamborghini/">Lamborghini</a>'s motorsport partners at <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/reiter+engineering">Reiter Engineering</a>, the LP600+ is designed to GT3 regulations. Its 5.2-liter V10 has been tuned up to 600 metric horsepower (592hp by our count), joined with a retuned gearbox, competition aerodynamics package, rolling stock, suspension and more. With a curb weight trimmed to just 2,624 pounds and a 40mm ground clearance, the Reiter LP600+ promises to give the competition a run for their money with a relatively modest price tag (for a race-ready supercar, anyway) of &euro;288,500 ($386k).<br />

<br />Reiter Engineering used last weekend's 24 Hours of Spa race to reveal its Murcielago LP670 R-SV, a GT1 race-ready version of the already hardened LP 670-4 SV. The box-stock Lambo already shed 220 pounds compared to its non SV brethren, weighing in at 3,451 pounds. The Reiter racer, stripped of any non-essentials and with a body rendered entirely in carbon fiber, drops further 921 pounds to weigh in at just 2,530 pounds (1,150 kg). <br /><br />Reiter is hoping the car will be one of the six allowable brands chosen for next year's FIA GT World Championship. You can read the press release on the taurean missile after the jump, and check out the gallery of high-res photos below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lp670-r-sv">Reiter Engineering LP670 R-SV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lp670-r-sv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/01_reiter_lp670sv_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lp670-r-sv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/03_reiter_lp670sv_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lp670-r-sv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/05_reiter_lp670sv_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lp670-r-sv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/07_reiter_lp670sv_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lp670-r-sv/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/09_reiter_lp670sv_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.reiter-engineering.com/raceteam/raceteam.html">Reiter Engineering</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/27/reiter-engineering-unveils-lamborghini-murcielago-lp670-r-sv-at/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Reiter Engineering unveils Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 R-SV at Spa</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/27/reiter-engineering-unveils-lamborghini-murcielago-lp670-r-sv-at/">Reiter Engineering unveils Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 R-SV at Spa</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 27 Jul 2009 11:00:00 EST. <br />To some casual observers, Ferrari and Lamborghini may seem like peas in a pod: exotic Italian supercars with aggressive styling and superlative performance capabilities. But how they arrive at that point is far from similar. While Ferraris are bred from racing technology, Lamborghini, for the most part, doesn't compete in motor sports. For that, they've got Reiter Engineering. The German motorsport garage has decades of experience turning Lamborghini's road cars into racing cars, and not with an immodest level of success. Especially in the GT3 racing class, where Reiter-prepped Lambos have taken titles and continue to lead championships around the world. The latest Reiter GT3 car is now emerging from the development phase and the order books are open.<br /><br />Based on the Gallardo LP560-4, the Reiter LP560 GT3 is a lightweight road-course rocket. The 5.2-liter V10 has been revised to GT3 specifications, while lightweight aluminum chassis components draped in carbon fiber bodywork keeps weight down to just 2,624 pounds. Downforce has been optimized, shift times have been halved and weight distribution has been balanced. But one of the most intriguing elements of the LP560's design is that it can be easily upgraded to compete in the higher level GT2 class, giving privateer teams a wider variety of titles to contest. Reiter will sell your team a turn-key GT3-spec model for 265,000 euros (about $375k), and upgrade it to GT2 spec for another 30,000 euros ($43k). Details in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-lamborgini-gallardo-lp560-gt3">Reiter Lamborgini Gallardo LP560 GT3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-lamborgini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/reitergt3_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-lamborgini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/reitergt3_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-lamborgini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/reitergt3_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-lamborgini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/reitergt3_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-lamborgini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/reitergt3_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/20/reiter-debuts-new-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Reiter debuts new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT3</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/20/reiter-debuts-new-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt3/">Reiter debuts new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 19:58:00 EST. <br />Some automakers run their racing programs in-house, and some choose to out-source. While its principal rival falls under the former, Lamborghini opts for the latter, giving its blessing to German motorsport garage Reiter Engineering to campaign race-prepped Raging Bulls in European sportscar series. Earlier this month we brought you the first details and images on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/06/reiter-engineering-launches-new-gallardo-lp560-gt2/">Reiter's latest racecar, a Gallardo LP560-4 prepped for the GT2 class</a>. With that out of the way, Reiter is now reportedly turning its attention to its next project for the top-tier GT1 class. It's basis: the spankin' new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/02/officially-official-lamborghini-murcielago-lp-670-4-superveloce/">Murcielago SV</a>.<br /><br />The ultimate version of the Lamborghini supercar was just <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murcielago-lp-670-4-superveloce/">revealed at the Geneva Auto Show</a> last month, but the boffins at Reiter Engineering aren't about to waste any time. No details yet, but if the rear-drive-only LP560 GT2 is any indication, we can expect Reiter to axe the Murci's all-wheel-drive system to save weight as well. The GT1-spec Murcielago SV is being developed for the 2010 season, when the FIA GT Championship will be split into the GT2 European Championship and the GT1 World Championship. While the aforementioned LP560 will take on the former, the competition Superveloce will take on the likes of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/fia-gt1-nissan-gt-r-revealed-in-full-with-600-hp-v8/">Nismo GT-R</a>, Ford GT and two or three more anticipated models, each supplying a maximum of two teams with two cars each, in the latter that will include races in Argentina, Australia, South Africa and the UAE in addition to the European events. <br /><br />Reiter's been known to turn the racing versions of Lamborghini's roadcars back into street machinery, with examples like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/26/one-more-for-the-road-reiter-engineering-builds-gallardo-gt3-fo/">Gallardo GT3 Strada</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/reiter-engineering-offers-street-legal-version-of-murcielago-r-g/">Murcielago R-GT Strada</a> in its repertoire, but we couldn't imagine them taking the street-bound SV to even more extreme grounds... could we?<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murci-lago-lp-670-4-superveloce">Geneva 2009: Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murci-lago-lp-670-4-superveloce/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-lp-670-4-superveloce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murci-lago-lp-670-4-superveloce/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-lp-670-4-superveloce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murci-lago-lp-670-4-superveloce/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-lp-670-4-superveloce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murci-lago-lp-670-4-superveloce/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-lp-670-4-superveloce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-lamborghini-murci-lago-lp-670-4-superveloce/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-lp-670-4-superveloce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74362">Autosport</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/14/reiter-engineering-developing-gt1-spec-lamborghini-murcielago-sv/">Reiter Engineering developing GT1-spec Lamborghini Murcielago SV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 14 Apr 2009 10:01:00 EST. </small> <br />Forget about the latest LP560-4 or the limited-production Superleggera that preceded it: what you're looking at here is the ultimate Gallardo. Only it's not made by Lamborghini. Unlike its arch-rivals in Maranello, Lamborghini doesn't make racing cars. For that, it turns over its supercars to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/10/05/gallardo-gt3-racer-will-be-built-but-not-by-lambo/">Reiter Engineering</a>, the German garage that fields <em>renn</em>-ready Raging Bulls in European sportscar championships, and has also turned out <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/reiter-engineering-offers-street-legal-version-of-murcielago-r-g/">a few variants</a> for <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/26/one-more-for-the-road-reiter-engineering-builds-gallardo-gt3-fo/">the street</a>, too. The firm has just released its latest effort, a competition spec Gallardo for the GT2 class in the European Le Mans Series.<br /><br />Based on the Gallardo LP560-4, Reiter has done away with the all-wheel-drive and gone with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/18/rumormill-lamborghini-working-on-two-rear-wheel-drive-cars-for/">rear-wheel traction</a> only for its Racing Bull. To meet GT2 regulations, Reiter will have had to actually reduce the engine's output from the stock 560hp to below the 500hp mark, and possibly added some ballast to fine-tune the weight balance and meet the 1125kg minimum heft requirement for the series. Instead of starting the season in Barcelona with the rest of the field, Reiter has opted to perform some additional testing before hitting the track at Spa on May 10. You, however, can check out the images in the gallery below for a sneak peek.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt2">Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 GT2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/reiter_gallardo_gt2_testing_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/reiter_gallardo_gt2_testing_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/reiter_gallardo_gt2_testing_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/reiter_gallardo_gt2_testing_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.reiter-engineering.com/2009/04/lamborghini-gallardo-gt2-successful-test-of-50th-reiter-gallardo-in-salzburg-2/">Reiter Engineering</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/06/reiter-engineering-launches-new-gallardo-lp560-gt2/">Reiter Engineering launches new Gallardo LP560 GT2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 13:59:00 EST. <br />Turning road cars into race cars and then back into road cars seems to be Reiter Engineering's new specialty. The factory-supported Lamborghini race team, which also recently built a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/15/reiter-engineering-offers-street-legal-version-of-murcielago-r-g/">street-legal variant of their Murcielago R-GT</a> that competes in the FIA GT1 and European Le Mans Series, is now offering a road version of their Gallardo GT3 racecar. Based off the standard Gallardo with the 5.0L V10, the "Strada" features carbon fiber bodywork including fenders that have been widened 60mm, a new front fascia with "shark" style air ducts, side skirts and a large carbon fiber wing at the rear. A single large center-mounted exhaust system reduces weight by nine kg and added an extra ten horsepower, while new three-piece alloy wheels are wrapped with ultra sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rubber. The interior stays relatively stock, although the stock seats have been replaced with leather-covered racing units. While we wouldn't say the result is subtle, it's definitely one of the cleaner designs we've seen. <br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-gallardo-gt3-strada">Reiter Engineering Gallardo GT3 Strada</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-gallardo-gt3-strada/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/reitergallardogt3strada_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-gallardo-gt3-strada/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/reitergallardogt3strada_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-gallardo-gt3-strada/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/reitergallardogt3strada_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-gallardo-gt3-strada/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/reitergallardogt3strada_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/reiter-engineering-gallardo-gt3-strada/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/reitergallardogt3strada_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: Reiter Engineering]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/26/one-more-for-the-road-reiter-engineering-builds-gallardo-gt3-fo/">One more for the road: Reiter Engineering builds Gallardo GT3 for the street</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 26 Dec 2008 19:58:00 EST. <br />The benefits of motorsports usually have a way of trickling down to road cars, although in this particular case the connection is fairly direct. Reiter Engineering, the factory-backed motorsports company that competes in the FIA GT1 and GT3, recently unveiled a street legal version of its Murcielago R-GT racecar at the Essen Motor Show. The supercar features race-oriented modifications including a carbon fiber front spoiler and rear wing, OZ Racing wheels, and upgraded brakes and suspension components. Reiter also added a new rear fascia, and moved the exhaust system up towards the rear deck lid. Apparently the show car is a one-off, although word has it that it can be had for the right amount of money, and the individual components on the car are also available for purchase.
