When a video touts itself as "probably the greatest hollywood-style RC action movie car chase ever," (sic) you should set yourself up for disappointment. That's not to say that this joint effort, a clearly well-funded partnership between LA Muscle Sports Supplements and Fast & Furious 6, isn't fun and polished, but just lately we've posted some very entertaining small-scale car videos like this and this.

Still, it's cool to watch an R/C Camaro slide wide around turns amidst warehouse shelves full of LA Muscle product. Just as in real life, zooming around gets the attention of the constabulary, and a passel of police cars gives chase, which leads our Camaro protagonist to... J-TURN! It is a cool video, tied to a movie that we know is full of some fantastic cars and you can bet that the full-sizers will do stunts that are even more jaw-dropping.

It never ceases to amaze us how much video production talent you can find on YouTube, especially when considering movies like Battleship actually exist on the silver screen. It's even better, of course, when cars are involved, which is why we can't stop watching this car chase between a pair of radio controlled Ford Mustangs.

Racing through a detailed set built in the middle of a public street using just "cardboard, hot glue and spray paint," this video is possibly even greater than The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever that we saw last year. With the exception of a fruit stand and/or a plate-glass window being carried across the street, this has all the makings of a classic cliché chase scene.

Scroll down to watch the scaled-down action ensue as well as the full-scale conclusion.
Continue reading Watch this awesome R/C car chase scene made with cardboard and glue

Watch this awesome R/C car chase scene made with cardboard and glue originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 22 Feb 2013 19:57:00 EST.
What's the recipe for a great automotive chase scene? Well, first you need to have cars - cool cars, fast cars or classic cars, preferably, along with some machines to actually... well, give chase. Police cars work well, naturally, and they better be fast enough to keep up.

Throw in some scenery that matches the mood of the chase, an appropriate sound track with realistic engine sounds and some suspense-building music, a litany of camera angles - a helicopter overhead couldn't hurt - and a script that includes virtually impossible stunts, crashes and explosions. Oh, don't forget the obligatory fruit stand.

What you don't need, apparently, are drivers in the cars. As you'll see in the video after the break, all of this movie-making magic can be done without putting a single stunt person in harm's way. How? Scroll down below to find out, and be sure to check out the bonus behind-the-scenes video for good measure.
Continue reading Watch The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever

Watch The Greatest R/C Car Chase Ever originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 17 Oct 2012 19:59:00 EST.
