<br />
Last time <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/roadkill">Roadkill</a> took a trip it inolved a $1,500 budget, a 1972 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/pontiac">Pontiac</a> Catalina and a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/21/watch-as-hot-rod-goes-from-el-paso-to-la-the-hard-way/">trip from El Paso to Los Angeles</a>. This time their adventures point northward to Alaska, and their chariot will be a clone of the 1968 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford">Ford</a> Ranchero that <em>Hot Rod</em> used to take a class win in the first Baja 1000. It is, naturally, called "Viva Raunchero."<br />
<br />
Ice racing in America's largest state is the goal. But the real action ends up taking place far away from Arctic latitudes as co-pilots David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan get to enjoy hours of freezing temps when the Ranchero throws repeated tantrums in Vail, Colorado and Utah. You'll find another lesson in road tripping the <em>Hot Rod</em> way in the video <a href="/2012/03/17/hot-rod-tackles-the-alaska-highway-in-1968-ford-ranchero/#continued">after the jump</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/17/hot-rod-tackles-the-alaska-highway-in-1968-ford-ranchero/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em><i>Hot Rod</i> tackles the Alaska Highway in 1968 Ford Ranchero Baja 1000 clone</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/17/hot-rod-tackles-the-alaska-highway-in-1968-ford-ranchero/"><i>Hot Rod</i> tackles the Alaska Highway in 1968 Ford Ranchero Baja 1000 clone</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 17 Mar 2012 20:01:00 EST. <br />
The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford/mustang">Ford Mustang</a> has some strange skeletons knocking bones in its closet, including the Mustero. Believe it or not, the Mustang/Ranchero hybrid you see above was actually a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/ford">Ford</a>-licensed product. The company authorized Beverly Hills Mustang LTD to produce the machines for just two years.<br />
<br />
At the time, the conversion came carrying a price tag of $6,500. That made the Mustero as expensive as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/shelby cobra">Shelby Cobra</a>. Needless to say, buyers weren't exactly lining up with cash in hand for a pint-sized pickup sports car, and only 50 were ever produced, including this well-restored example.<br />
<br />
According to the owner, this '66 Mustero received a complete restoration in the '80s and has been carefully stored indoors since then. A 289-cubic-inch V8 lurks under the hood, mated to a three-speed manual gearbox. Manual steering and brakes are part of the party as well, so be prepared for a work out when it comes time to wheel this machine through town.<br />
<br />
The vehicle currently sits with a Buy It Now price of $32,500. Head over to <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-FORD-MUSTANG-MUSTERO-RARE-1-50-BUILT-BEVERLY-HILLS-MUSTANGS-RESTORED-/220917055159?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&amp;hash=item336faebeb7#ht_1387wt_1167">eBay Motors</a> for a look at the listing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/21/ebay-find-of-the-day-1966-ford-mustang-mustero/">eBay Find of the Day: 1966 Ford Mustang Mustero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 21 Dec 2011 10:00:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>1975 Ford Ranchero with a 604ci V8 - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> We don't often feature custom cars owned by individuals, but this 1975 Ford Ranchero is too good to pass up. One look at the massive rear tires or the dual nitrous bottles in the trunk will tell you that this isn't your everyday sedan-based pickup. <br /> <br /> You might initially think that the wood paneling along the side of the Ranchero, a feature of the Squire model, is the coolest part of the package, but wait until you get a look underneath the hood. Owner Mike Miller has swapped out the original Cleveland V8 with a 604ci V8 specially built by JBA Engines in San Diego, California that puts out 870 horsepower and 822 lb-ft torque on 91 octane. And that's <em>without</em> the 250 shot of nitrous. Check out the chromed V8 and the rest of the Ranchero's tasty details in our high-res gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1975-ford-ranchero-with-604ci-v8">1975 Ford Ranchero with 604ci V8</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1975-ford-ranchero-with-604ci-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/01_bossranchero_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1975-ford-ranchero-with-604ci-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/02_bossranchero_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1975-ford-ranchero-with-604ci-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/03_bossranchero_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1975-ford-ranchero-with-604ci-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/04_bossranchero_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1975-ford-ranchero-with-604ci-v8/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/01/05_bossranchero_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/15/potent-pickup-the-baddest-ford-ranchero-youve-ever-seen/">Potent Pickup: The baddest Ford Ranchero you've ever seen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 15 Jan 2010 14:59:00 EST. Kaiser was one of many smaller independents that had yet to die off in the early 1950s. The independents were often more creative than the big three, pushing innovation with limited resources. This extra-special Special-based vehicle is sporting "Barris Kustom" badges on the B-Pillars, glossy light yellow paint on the flanks, and a iron-irrific Continental L-head 6 underhood. You may not be torching the wide whites off the Kelsey Hayes wires with the 118 horsepower, but it's definitely adequate, even on today's roads. Current bids stand at $7,300 for what looks like a driveable classic. It'd be an interesting vehicle to poke around at and uncover the provenance, and the story would be way more entertaining than "It came down the line in Arlington one day." <br /><br />Thanks for the tip, Mike!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/kaiser-special-pickup">Kaiser Special pickup</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/kaiser-special-pickup/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c451-dash-remote_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/kaiser-special-pickup/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c451-doorpanel-remote_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/kaiser-special-pickup/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c451-emblems-remote_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/kaiser-special-pickup/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c451-engine-remote_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/kaiser-special-pickup/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/c451-fahr-remote_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/09/ebay-find-of-the-day-kaisercamino/">eBay find of the day: KaiserCamino?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 09 Sep 2007 09:32:00 EST. This Silver Shad-amino (Shadero?) has just undergone a two-year restoration by Florida's Foreman Motors. It'd be just the thing out on the Estate, cruising the grounds surrounded by sumptuous leather and wool with the Spirit of Ecstasy up on the prow. We think it's great; it's not like these particular Rollers are rare cars, anyway. The duPont Registry, want ads for those with excess filthy lucre, has it listed at $49,000, or a dollar per accrued mile. It could be worse, at least the Silver Shadow has handsome, stately lines and the conversion appears to be high-quality. Imagine what a <a href="http://www.channel4.com/4car/gl/gallery/gallery/574/4">Camargue's</a> blockier profile would do without its fast C-pillar. Although, that rakish rear window may make a nice Cam-a-Lanche. It'd likely beat the truck in fuel economy, too. <br /><br />[Source: duPont Registry via <a href="http://news.windingroad.com/etc/beverly-hillbillies-coachbuilt-rolls-royce-silver-shadow-pickup/">Winding Road</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/14/pricey-pickup-1969-rolls-royce-silver-shadow-truck-for-sale/">Pricey Pickup: 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow truck for sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 14 Jun 2007 11:23:00 EST. After the war, car-makers took over the production facilities in the area, many of which have since gone away, but more on that another time. <br /><br />More recently, the city has gained some internet notoriety as the home of the most phallic building in the world, thanks <a href="http://www.cabinetmagazine.org/phallic/winner.php">to our water tower</a>. A short distance from the tower is Riverside Park in Depot Town which during the spring and summer months is home to several car shows. The first event of the year is the Show and Shine put on by the <a href="http://www.ypsiareastreetrods.com/home.html">Ypsi Area Street Rods</a> club with proceeds from the event going to a variety of charities like Cystic fibrosis, Hospice and the Humane Society.<br /><br />See more of what was at Show and Shine after the jump.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine">2007 Ypsilanti Show and Shine</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/img_3962_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/img_3985_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/img_3944_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/img_3996_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/img_4005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/07/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine-car-show/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2007 Ypsilanti Show and Shine car show</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/07/2007-ypsilanti-show-and-shine-car-show/">2007 Ypsilanti Show and Shine car show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 07 May 2007 13:32:00 EST.
