<br />When BMW rolled out the new 6 Series coupe in 2003, it reconnected with a nameplate that had laid dormant for some 14 years. The original 6-Series, produced between 1976 and 1989, earned itself a cult following and iconic status, epitomized by the 635CSi. Some apparently feel that the current 6 doesn't pay enough homage to the original. The people at Racer X Design count themselves in that camp, and are evidently hoping there are more like-minded enthusiasts... with cash.<br /><br />Racer X Design has caught our attention before with some arresting concepts, including the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/17/racer-x-design-kc-427-concept-offers-modern-interpretation-of-th/">KC-427</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/10/rendered-speculation-racer-x-design-rz-formula/">RZ Formula</a>. The RZ-M6, however, takes the existing 6 Series and retros it up a bit, in turn paying a bit of homage to BMW's own <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/27/modern-retro-bmw-m1-homage-officially-revealed/">M1 Hommage concept</a>. The modified body panels would also widen the coupe by an extra 50 mm, giving it a more aggressive stance to go along with the tribute styling. Of course, Racer X Design needs to attract some potential customers to bring the RZ-M6 to life, but it's already a few steps closer to reality than the studio's previous projects. Check it out in the gallery below and read the full press release after the jump.<em><br /><br /></em><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6">Racer X Design BMW RZ-M6</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/2009-bmw-rz-m6-by-racer-x-design-side-race-1280x960_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/2009-bmw-rz-m6-by-racer-x-design-rear-race-1280x960_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/2009-bmw-rz-m6-by-racer-x-design-rear-and-side-1280x960_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/2009-bmw-rz-m6-by-racer-x-design-rear-1600x1200_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/2009-bmw-rz-m6-by-racer-x-design-front-race-1280x960_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.racerxdesign.com">Racer X Design</a> via <a href="http:// http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/2009/top-2009-BMW-RZ-M6-by-Racer-X-Design.htm">SeriousWheels.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/15/rendering-homage-racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rendering Homage: Racer X Design BMW RZ-M6</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/15/rendering-homage-racer-x-design-bmw-rz-m6/">Rendering Homage: Racer X Design BMW RZ-M6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 11:29:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res image gallery of the Racer X Design Formula RZ</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The term "F1 car for the road" is as clich&eacute;d as "Darth Vader's new ride," but it's hard to look at the Racer X Design Formula RZ without drawing a comparison to open-wheeled track tools, along with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/KTMXBow/">KTM X-Bow</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/07/geneva-2008-japanese-ambition-the-k07-spyder/">K07 Spyder</a>.<br /><br />Racer X Design first appeared on our radar with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/17/racer-x-design-kc-427-concept-offers-modern-interpretation-of-th/">KC-427 Concept</a>, a modern interpretation of the Cobra powered by a theoretical 6.4-liter V10. The Formula RZ takes a different tack, combing the attributes of the pioneering <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ArielAtom/">Ariel Atom</a> and the aforementioned X-Bow and K07 with a customizable body - complete with removable nose cone and wing -- aimed at delivering a pure driving experience for a party of two.<br /><br />The Formula RZ is simply a design study at the moment, so there's no mention of powerplants, gearboxes or curb weights, but that doesn't stop us from fantasizing about how the RZ would attack the track, and it shouldn't stop you from checking the renderings in the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz">Racer X Design Formula RZ</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/01_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/02_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/03_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/04_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/racer-x-design-formula-rz/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/05_formula_rz_render_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://74.125.93.104/translate_c?hl=en&amp;sl=fr&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http://www.reubenzammit.com/rz_formula.html&amp;usg=ALkJrhi04CU2TwIMQ7wJ50sHRZxW-aD0ng">Racer X Design</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/10/rendered-speculation-racer-x-design-rz-formula/">Rendered Speculation: Racer X Design RZ Formula </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 17:29:00 EST. <p>Nearly four years ago at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show, Ford launched a Cobra Concept with a 6.4-liter V10 and a modern design twist of the classic two-seater. While it was cool to see a modernized version of the original, it still lacked the overall aggressive design of the original Cobra that so many people love. There weren't enough curves, and the front looked somewhat awkward.</p>
<p>Recently, Maltese design and tuning company <a href="http://www.racerxdesign.com/">Racer X Design</a> launched renderings of what they call the KC-427 Concept. It has very similar lines to the original Cobra (especially the rear), but with sharper creases that give a modern appearance. Racer X Design hopes to have a full concept car out within a year, and to eventually produce a run of twenty.</p>
